Hi. What is the best way to get started in having the Greek gods as your main belief?

Or even the other old gods.

Have a nice day and stay safe ☀️

Hi there! 👋

Well, I can't say much about other gods. Overall, I'd say reaserch the pantheon, the religion, it's history/background, traditions and pillars. Learn the basics first. You don't need to have the knowledge of a scholar.

See if it resonates with you and if it's something you're interested in. You can talk with people who are a part of this religion and see how they may approach certain things to get the general idea of what one's practice could possibly look like nowadays. Don't be afraid to ask questions. We're usually pretty open and happy to talk about our gods.

Just see what works for you, you know?

Be open to learning, be patient with yourself and know that you don't need to be perfect, don't beat yourself up if you make mistakes at first.

Here are some posts that could be useful:

  • Some basics + where to start with research, etc: LINK
  • Prayer: LINK; more about prayer - Q: Do I need to pray?: LINK
  • Cheat sheets - basic info about the gods: LINK

Hope this helps!

Witch Craft in Your Every Day Life

use sun or moon water in your morning teas or coffee.

Add honey or sugar to your tea or coffee with the intent of making your day a little sweeter.

Stir your drinks and food clockwise with the intent to invoke, stir counter clockwise with the intent to banish.

When cooking, assign the metaphysical properties to the spices you are using in your recipe.

When sweeping your floors, imagine your self sweeping up all the negative and stagnate energy in your home out along with the dirt.

When washing dishes scrub them in a clockwise circle with the intent to invoke positivity and health into your plates and bowls.

Water your plants with moon and sun water. Feed your plants crushed u egg shells. Burry the ashes of a burnt sigil on paper or a bay leaf in your plant pots. Decorate plant pots with sigils. This will all turn your plants into protective wards for you.

Make a sigil with the phrase “Only people who I wish to see this can see this” or something like that, then draw it on everything you wish to keep private in order to deter nosy people.

Draw sigils with your lotion, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand sanitizer, and roller ball perfume.

Make sigils from the phrases “I am healthy” and “I am protected” and draw them on the inside of your face mask.

Charge your face masks with your crystals.

Bless everything you drink and eat no matter what.

Draw protective sigils inside your bra if you wear one.

Let your regular jewelry become protection charms by letting them charge in a plate of salt and protective herbs (Mine also has herbs for self love and to help with anxiety)

When needing to remember important information let a ring charge in rosemary and mint for mental clarity and to help you remember then wear this ring every time you study and take a test.

Decorative candles? Scented candles for the smell? Turn them into spell candles with your intent when you light them, manifest some positivity.

💗Lovely offerings to Aphrodite💗

  • Roses: all roses are sacred to Her.
  • Dark chocolates: known to be an aphrodisiac
  • Vanilla: organic is best
  • Sweet fruits: especially apples
  • Seashells: of all kinds
  • Sand: collected from the beach if possible
  • Seawater: if you don’t live near the ocean, make your own saltwater for Her
  • Olive oil: olive oil is liked by many deities
  • Golden honey: honey is another liked gift by many gods
  • Sweet perfumes: offer Her the whole bottle or wear some as a devotional act
  • Poems and hymns: make them about Her or about someone you love

💗Sweet devotional acts💗

  • Practice self-care and self-love
  • Feeding birds, bees, and fish and taking care of nature
  • Dancing
  • Enjoying the beauty of the world
  • Masturbate in Her name if you feel comfortable doing so
  • Music, either your own or a playlist that reminds you of Her
  • Remember to tell the ones you are close to your love
  • Do a little extra for yourself - a spa day, new clothes, go a little extra on your makeup even if it is just a normal day for you, etc.

💗Cute altar ideas💗

An altar to Aphrodite should be as beautiful as you can make it. Decorate it with ocean motifs, roses (real or fake), flower garlands, nods to Her sacred animals (doves, swans, dolphins,) art of Her or erotica, rose quartz, pearls, and bright colors that capture feelings of love and the sea. An altar beside a window, on a windowsill, a vanity stand, or somewhere with a mirror. If you need to keep it secret or wish to keep a travel altar, try to keep her altar in a pretty box adorned with floral or sea decorations or something like a makeup pouch.

Having an outdoor garden altar is also a perfect option for Her - make it bird and bee friendly, use organic products (ones without pesticides) on your plants, have bird-feeders around, and have a little place where you can safely light a candle or incense for Her along with an offering bowl and a place for you to sit and enjoy the beauty she brings to you.

On prayers in hellenism

(feel free to correct me if i made a mistake)

Literally yesterday I was talking to one of my best friends about her relationships and said “i must admit when you dated x i prayed day and night for you to find a better man, im not a prayer person tbh”.

And that little dumb comment ended up here. I thought to myself why was I in fact not a prayer person and why and how did I pray in certain cases such as when running or asking Aphrodite for my friend to find a better guy.

So here you go, a crash course on prayers but specifically in hellenism.

If it’s not obvious, each way of worshipping is different and if you don’t agree with something I say just don’t do it? Paganism in general is a very personal and free religion, so do whatever you think it’s the right way (be careful too pls).

Let’s start with what troubled me the most, the posture. Did I have to kneel? Sit? WHAT?! Well here you go:

  • When praying to ouranic Gods or heavenly Gods, one should stand with hands in the air and palms facing upward (Burkert 1985, 75).
  • When praying to chthonic Gods or underworld Gods, as well as the deceased, hands mustn’t be raised, and the prayer should be murmured (Burkert 1985, 75).
  • When praying to einalic Gods or Gods of the sea, as well as Nymphs and spirits of the earth, arms must be spread wide towards the sea; the hands “are also stretched towards the cult image” (Burkert 1985, 75).

(Here you can find which are some of the ouraic, chtonic and einalic gods)

Position ready, now you should try to purify yourself through washing your hands, taking a shower, etc. (Miasma, this is all miasma go research kiddos). Why? WHY?! Well, Imagine someone comes to you all dirty and smelly asking for help… no fun right.

Let’s assume you already are clean, get an offering to offer the gods and let’s start.

Okay okay now, what do we say when we start a prayer? Do we say “Hey pal how you doing bro” (be kind enough to add the generic frat boy voice when reading)? The answer is obviously not but what should we say… I assume you have already decided who are you praying too, so we name/invoke the deity we are asking help/giving our gratitude too, most of the times this starts with a “Hear, O (deity) + (epithets you might think are pertinent for this specific prayer, optional)”. Not always though, I’ll be furthermore breaking down two prayers from the Iliad on this steps to make it even more clear. This comparison can be found below.

Done that? We can proceed to basically give an “argument” on why you, from all people, should be blessed with their help. This is not for to guilt trip the deity okay, this is to bring up the beautiful relationship you have with them, it’s basically a reminder of “Hey, I’m serious about our deity x worshipper relationship, this is no joke”.

Now ofc we have to say why are we praying for. Wealth? Love? Want to pass your exams? (I sure do). Please don’t ask for an unicorn, ask for something the gods can give you such as protection, a blessing, good luck at an exam: be creative but not too creative.

Now that they are hopefully giving you what you’re asking for, we give back freely not because we want to force them to give us what we want. Basically the quote “I give so that you may give.” This can be considered as a “promise” on doing something like “I will practice violin daily for you” or “I will burn a candle for you”. You have your own practices so go with them.

Comparison among two prayers

Now that we got this, you may ask yourself “Where the hell is Roy taking all this info from?”. So I’ll just analyze prayers for you so you can see the clear structure used by Greek Writers. Here we go through comparing two prayers from the best book on Earth, the Iliad:

[446] So saying he placed her in his arms, and he joyfully took his dear child; but they made haste to set in array for the god the holy hecatomb around the well-built altar, and then they washed their hands and took up the barley grains. Then Chryses lifted up his hands, and prayed aloud for them: “Hear me, god of the silver bow, who stands over Chryse and holy Cilla, and rules mightily over Tenedos. As before you heard me when I prayed—to me you did honour, and mightily smote the host of the Achaeans—even so now fulfill me this my desire: ward off now from the Danaans the loathly pestilence.”
The Iliad Book 1 446-457
[220] to war in the forefront of the Myrmidons. But Achilles went into his hut, and opened the lid of a chest, fair and richly-dight, that silver-footed Thetis had set on his ship for him to carry with him, whem she had filled it well with tunics, and cloaks to keep off the wind, and woollen rugs. [225] Therein had he a fair-fashioned cup, wherefrom neither was any other man wont to drink the flaming wine, nor was he wont to pour drink offerings to any other of the gods save only to father Zeus. This cup he then took from the chest and cleansed it first with sulphur, and thereafter washed it in fair streams of water; [230] and himself he washed his hands, and drew flaming wine. Then he made prayer, standing in the midst of the court, and poured forth the wine, looking up to heaven; and not unmarked was he of Zeus, that hurleth the thunderbolt:“Zeus, thou king, Dodonaean, Pelasgian, thou that dwellest afar, ruling over wintry Dodona,—and about thee dwell the Selli, [235] thine interpreters, men with unwashen feet that couch on the ground. Aforetime verily thou didst hear my word, when I prayed: me thou didst honour, and didst mightily smite the host of the Achaeans; even so now also fulfill thou for me this my desire. Myself verily will I abide in the gathering of the ships, [240] but my comrade am I sending forth amid the host of the Myrmidons to war: with him do thou send forth glory, O Zeus, whose voice is borne afar, and make bold the heart in his breast, to the end that Hector, too, may know whether even alone my squire hath skill to fight, or whether his hands [245] then only rage invincible, whenso I enter the turmoil of Ares. But when away from the ships he hath driven war and the din of war, thea all-unscathed let him come back to the swift ships with all his arms, and his comrades that fight in close combat.”
The Iliad book XVI 220-245

Libations & Placement

Achilless:  This cup he then took from the chest and cleansed it first with sulphur, and thereafter washed it in fair streams of water; [230] and himself he washed his hands, and drew flaming wine.

Chryses: “around the well-built altar, and then they washed their hands (…) then Chryses lifted up his hands, and prayed aloud for them”

Calling among the gods

Chryses: “Hear me, god of the silver bow, who stands over Chryse and holy Cilla, and rules mightily over Tenedos

Achilles: ”Zeus, thou king, Dodonaean, Pelasgian, thou that dwellest afar, ruling over wintry Dodona,—and about thee dwell the Selli, [235] thine interpreters, men with unwashen feet that couch on the ground.”

Justification

Chryses: As before you heard me when I prayed—to me you did honour, and mightily smote the host of the Achaeans

Achilles:  Aforetime verily thou didst hear my word, when I prayed: me thou didst honour, and didst mightily smite the host of the Achaeans; even so now also fulfill thou for me this my desire.

What they are asking for

Chryses: even so now fulfill me this my desire: ward off now from the Danaans the loathly pestilence

Achilles: O Zeus, whose voice is borne afar, and make bold the heart in his breast, to the end that Hector, too, may know whether even alone my squire hath skill to fight, or whether his hands [245] then only rage invincible, whenso I enter the turmoil of Ares. But when away from the ships he hath driven war and the din of war, thea all-unscathed let him come back to the swift ships with all his arms, and his comrades that fight in close combat.”

Offerings

Chryses:  and took up the barley grains.

Achilles: nor was he wont to pour drink offerings to any other of the gods save only to father Zeus.

-_-

They both fulfill the checklist I did for you so hopefully this will be helpful. As always good luck!

Cartomancy

What is cartomancy?

Cartomancy is a form of divination using a deck of regular playing cards. Cartomancy has been a common form of divination since the 14th century. This form of divination uses the same card lay outs as tarot readings.

Why Practice cartomancy?

A deck of playing cards is a lot cheaper than a deck of tarot cards.

If you are in a household that does not support your beliefs playing cards are a very sneaky form of divination.

The meanings are very informative and a lot easier to remember than tarot in my own experience.

What does each card mean?

easy witchy tips i have learnt through my craft
  • writing a protective sigil inside your door to avoid bad energies to enter your room
  • making sigils by yourself works better because you pour your intention into it and can be a great way to manifest
  • white candles can replace any candle when doing candle magick
  • clear quartz can replace any crystal
  • when drinking your daily coffee/tea, stir clockwise to manifest something and anti-clockwise to let go of something. repeat your affirmations as you stir
  • salt baths absorb bad energies so having a salt bath once in a while helps with having your energies balanced
  • write an affirmation in a bay leaf and burn it to manifest it
  • always keep iron on you for protection
  • work with the moon phases and transits to make your spells more powerful
  • keep a sigil in your phone case for protection/manifestation
  • after giving an offering to a deity, return it to the earth
  • drink mugwort tea for lucid dreaming/astral projection (don’t drink it if you are pregnant!!)
  • before you put a crystal under water or in the sun, research about it
  • keep a dream journal. it helps for lucid dreaming.
  • put an amethyst under your pillow to sleep better and to recall your dreams
  • charge your tarot/oracle cards by putting a crystal on top of them while you are not usinf them
  • mix moon or sun water with your cosmetics for a quick beauty spell
  • try to do an activity to connect yourself with each element everyday. (ex: a bath for water, walking barefoot for earth, lighting a candle for fire, singing for air)
  • make an habit of meditating everyday

Write your Witchcraft

The thing is, we change. We are not the same person we were five years ago. Hel, a lot of us are not even the same people we were last week. We change, and our beliefs, favourites, thoughts and the way we see ourselves changes with it.

The same is true for our witchraft, religion and spiritual beliefs. This is why I have a list of question that I like to answer for myself every couple of years. I first started this when I came across a list of questions by Juniper from Walking the Hedge (site no longer in use) in 2008, yes, over ten years ago. Every few years I filled in the questions and looked back at the answers I gave before. Some never changed, some changed quite a lot.

When our coven started a new lesson plan, I gave out the list of questions as well. We sealed our answers in envelopes and plan to fill them in again, once we finish our lessons. Then open the envelopes and look at the answers side by side. To see how we have changed.

I looked at the list last week and found it actually lacking a bit. The questions were very deity- and spiritual based, so I was missing some more questions about my personality and witchcraft. So I decided to make my own list of questions!

Since I wanted to make this more a weekly journaling/grimoire prompt for myself I put together 52 questions. These can be answered weekly (maybe every year) or you can work through the list in one go and repeat that every few years or so.

Some notes on the wording: I consider myself both a witch and a pagan, but to keep it easier to read I only used wording like “witch” and “witchcraft”, they can however be substituted for “pagan”, “paganism” or even “my path”, should that fit you better. When I talk about “sacred space” this can both mean a ritual space like a temple or casting of a circle, but also just your home or outdoors witchy environment.

I’d love it if you would tag anything you feel comfortable with posting online with the tag #writeyourwitchcraft!

  1. What draws me to witchcraft?
  2. How do I see the divine?
  3. What in witchcraft makes me happy?

A Daddy’s Duty

pairing: Eijirou Kirishima x Bakugou Katsuki

genre: smut

word count: 5.4k

featuring: top!Eijirou, bottom!Katsuki, excessive use of the word “daddy” (no such thing), barebacking, spanking, pining Ei, Somnophilia, light dom/sub

summary: Eijirou wakes up to something wet. As his mind dances on fuzzy edges, a limbo between sleepy darkness and a hazy consciousness, his overheated palms run over the cool sheets. Sheets that feel a lot cooler than they did before.

Then, there’s the very distinct feeling of a tongue on his dick. His senses kick into overdrive, and his body in autopilot as he ruts into this mysterious wet-hot cavern that’s somehow found its way onto his dick. It’s the burning pleasure in his veins that pulls the groan out of his mouth.

Then, only then, does the panic set in.

Kidnapped? No. Katsuki. Katsuki’s room. Katsuki’s…mouth?

OR; When Principal Nezu assigns Eijirou to watch Katsuki after he gets involved in a quirk accident, giving the redhead nothing but a name, he doesn’t think much of it. Not until he wakes up with his dick balls deep in Katsuki’s throat in the middle of the night. Maybe he should look up what “transference” is after all.
