My initial and continuing reaction is "what would they prefer happen? How do they suggest the situation be responded to?" Because I think people laughing along with the cops need to really consider that. If talking someone down is NOT how you want the situation to be handled, how do you want it handled? What is the resolution that you expect and/or would respect? Truly? What do you really want to see happen here?

Continuation of Rain Check
Roy kicked the tide as it washed over his feet. The splash was pretty good, but Marinette could do better. She’d not only proven it time and time again, but she’d taught Lian as well and now Lian could do better than that splash. In their entire relationship, he had never been able to splash her the way she and Lian could splash him. Every attempt had resulted in mild disruption for Marinette and disaster for him. But that streak was going to end with vacation. He was going to destroy her… respectfully.
If he wanted to splash her without coming out worse from her retribution, he was going to have to do better as well. He only had one more day of their getaway to get better at it before they had to leave their little hideaway and return to their normal lives, so he needed to focus. However, his focus was immediately broken when he heard Marinette screech. His heart stopped and adrenaline flooded his veins. His eyes snapped to her, and his body instantly calmed, as he saw the culprit receding back.
He chuckled and shook his head watching her run away from the tide line and turn back to pout at it and he couldn’t help the sappy, lovesick smile that seemed permanently cemented on his face whenever she was around. She held the bottom of her dress out to examine the damage, looking so much like the first day they met, he almost collapsed into the sand. Everything about their relationship so far had been so idealistically perfect, the cynical side of him wanted to question it. But lucky for him, every time he started, his family was there to slap some sense into him… literally in the case of most of them.
He laughed out loud when she dropped her skirt and made a face at the ocean like it would be reprimanded, before continuing her walk, eyes glued to the ground. She managed to pay enough attention to jerk away from the next flow toward her, which gave him a great idea. A brilliant, awful idea. Why get better himself when he could use his environment to his favor. Work smarter, not harder, as they say.

Everyone should follow what's happening at Columbia right now. This is the largest protest there since 1968, and the admin just stripped several students of healthcare and housing.
The NYPD arrested over 108 students camping on the South Lawn yesterday. Now, thousands have joined the demonstration. As Israel prepares to commit genocide, Palestinian and Jewish students are taking the lead in protesting institutional complicity around the world.

Two-year-old Albert Apsassin feeling the spirit at National Indigenous Peoples Day in Camrose, Alberta.
Babies doing the Thing with their grownups will never not be an immediate and loving reblog.
This is also important because until 1951, Indigenous kids were not allowed to dance at pow wows. It was illegal for them to participate. This is not only heartwarming, but an act of defiance against the ongoing oppression and genocide sanctioned by the Canadian government.

There is an expression I remember hearing as a kid.
“Nice guys finish last.”
It’s a cliche phrase, and you probably heard either an incel or some Alpha wannabe say it as a justification for being a dick.
When I was younger I thought it was stupid. But then I thought about it. The truth is they are using it wrong.
Being Nice is not the same as good.
Nice means Agreeable, pleasant. Satisfactory, and/or Subtle
Good means Morally right, having positive qualities and trying to do what is right.
Just because someone is agreeable or meek does not mean they are a good person.
But just because someone ISNT meek or agreeable doesn’t make them a good person either.
The truth is that being nice is not the issue. It’s what’s underneath. If you are an antisocial sexist prick, you aren’t going to attract women.
So it’s not that nice guys finish last. It that guys with no substance do.
being pleasant and agreeable is fine. But it’s whether or not someone is actually a piece of shit that matters.
Niceness is a cologne. You can douse a piece of shit in cologne, but it’s still a piece of shit.
So my dudes, don’t try to be nice. Try to be good.
