So here’s the thing people kind of don’t realize outside of CA is that yes Malibu is a predominantly wealthy area. However you’re always one street away from an entirely different economic neighborhood in LA. Like where I live on one side is very poor houses and apartment complexes and the other side is estates.
Like I can literally look out my window at hillside mansions and if I go down my actual street there’s low incoming housing.
So when people are like “HEY WHO CARES RIGHT? Its just Will Smith or Lady Gaga’s house thats burning” its also like a LOT of lower income houses or middle class ranches in that area as well.
Also not to mention the fact that its firefighters, volunteers and prisoners getting paid like 2$ an hour (basically slave wages) trying to put that out.
So if you hear someone popping off on “WELL ITS JUST A RICH NEIGHBORHOOD WHO CARES” uh…..lots of us care? Its a huge area of town that’s being burned down, wildlife areas and there are actual people being killed.
Also the effects of the smoke are literally all over the town county and are visible from over an hour’s drive away.
