If you could make a single (non-Sora) spinoff game, what would it be? Who would be your protagonist and what worlds would you like to see?

Avatar

I think it would be super funny and on brand of the kick off to Kairi’s adventure was Ventus telling her to just runaway because it’s how he got stronger and it’s not like Sora planned his training regiment; So Kairi grabs what clues she has about Sora’s past adventures and runs off with Ventus because he’s not gonna explain to anyone where Kairi went. Also to help make sure she’s relatively safe. She even gets Namine to tag along so they can actually talk to each other for once.

It’s almost like going through a greatest hits album of Sora’s adventures, meeting a few of his friends and learning abilities along the way. I’d like to see Nightmare Before Christmas again and the sequel to The Little Mermaid. NEVERLAND IN MODERN GRAPHICS

All the worlds still have their own unique situations that while serious, aren’t as dire as before; more so on a 3DDD level minus the end. The real challenge comes from maybe after every other world plus some visits to Traverse Town, you bump into friends like Demyx, Lea, Terra, etc, who are trying to bring you back (on orders) and those are the real milestone fights where Kairi puts what she’s gathered so far into practice. With help she gets the better of them which is pretty impressive and it all builds to the final match when you return to Land of Departure. After hearing about all her progress, Aqua challenges Kairi solo to judge for herself.

It would be more of a lighthearted journey in terms of stakes, but emotionally rich with Kairi learning more about Sora as she trains and Aqua trying to figure out what kind of master she really wants to be. It’s also funny to imagine the secret boss just being Riku, who’s been busy following his own leads.

Sun:*playing video games*

Ilia:Hey.

Sun:Oh hey! You need something?

Ilia:I was just wondering if you were going to bed soon.

Sun:Nah. My day was pretty calm and I want to make a dent in the game before I’m spoiled. Why? Did you want the tv?

Ilia:No. I’m pretty tired actually.

Sun:Oh I’m sorry. I’ll turn it down if it’s bugging you.

Ilia:Heh, thanks but this has more to do with me going to sleep in general. I want to go to sleep.

Sun:Turning in early? Okay. I’ll keep an eye out.

Ilia: No that’s fine. I’m not sleeping yet.

Sun:But if you’re tired then you should rest.

Ilia:Yeah but there’s no real point if you aren’t joining me.

Sun:…*pauses game* Did you…hear yourself just now?

Ilia:….Oh gods, ugh. *squints* Ewww, the fuck? What the fuck? Aaagh! How dare you.

Sun:Me!?

Ilia:*grabs shoes* Imma gonna go hang out with Blake and have a night on the town! It’ll be awesome!

Sun:I think it’s sweet you want to cuddle.

Ilia:Silence!

Well knowing you have some old outlines I'd love to hear about your keykids

Avatar

Keep in mind, these thoughts are like incredibly old. At least a decade at this point or more.

I’d have to do some ancient digging to find any old papers but I remember my Keykid named Vincent.

He was a pretty calm young man who loved the water; always laying about on his keyblade, Lowtide, that transformed into a surfboard. He never had any truly grand motivations because the blissful peace with his hometown friend, Calypso, was enough.

She was a very adventurous keykid that was truly amazed by the power she awoken one night after adventuring out to sea to rescue a child on a boat who was taken by the current and ended up on a neighboring island. Self improvement and ambition was her at her very core. The idea of being sore and tired after pushing through the unknown was gratifying, and Vincent was never far behind her. He may not seem like the type to most people, but she knows what truly gives him joy isn’t mundane peace, but the freedom to stretch out his limbs and take the world at his own pace. With her keyblade, Voyage, she set off to new places.

Whenever Calypso learned about other worlds and an ocean of stars there really wasn’t a choice but to explore it; to learn just how far she can go with this power. The idea of even more beautiful sights and waves to lay on was fascinating to Vincent. More importantly, there was no way he was letting his friend go off on some chaotic journey without him covering her back. It’s not like he’s super attached or anything. Who said anything about a crush? He sure didn’t.

Hailing from a world that’s primarily water, wind, water, and thunder spells were pretty much their bread and butter. Calypso was always pretty strong and capable while Vincent wasn’t a slacker nor was he particularly the most enthusiastic either. In a lot of cases, it was Calypso charging ahead and inspiring others they met. If you were to ask her though, she truly believed nobody could beat her Vincent whenever it counted. To her, she was always marching down a path he could walk easily and was sometimes already at place she getting to. Vincent had nothing to prove to anyone or himself; only things he wanted to protect and see. So the moments those precious things needed him, Vincent showed everyone what Calypso always knew. He’s as courageous and intense as she was. He just needs a reason to jump into the deep end.

If Ventus and Aqua can hear each other's songs in the game... what would their reactions be?

Avatar

That’s unironically hilarious because the only time Ventus’s song plays is when he’s sad or in emotional distress. There’s a scene it literally kicks in the second after Aqua tells him to go home; so now I’m just imagining Aqua mentally going “Shit” because sad woodwind instruments started playing out of the blue.

At least with Aqua’s song there’s the excuse she’s deep in thought about something important. Ven’s theme is literally “I’m not doing so good right now.” 😭

The only time it’s kinda hopeful is KH3 and that scene still makes me cry cause it’s so emotional and he says thank you.

Favorite KH game?

Favorite KH spell or ability?

And do you like or dislike gummi ship sections?

Avatar

Kingdom Hearts (1) is my favorite overall and the one I go back to the most. Birth By Sleep is a close second.

Lethal Frame is high up on the ability list, but I also need to mention I believe it’s either Spark or Relfect Raid? The one where the keyblade splits into multiple after throwing it. Really loved the BBS idea of making multiple Raid spells with different abilities. Special shout out to Tornado and also Gravity from KH1.

I don’t hate the gummi ship lol. There’s definitely a few times I want to replay a game though and then I remember I’d have to do certain gummi ship missions that I rather not. That being said I do like the KH1 detail that on certain routes, depending on which side you’re steering towards, it will change the course of what world you’re picking.

Avatar

What about Dream Drop Distance do you dislike and like? We now know you like the music. I will admit that the ending with why only Riku was given the Keyblade Master title is ridiculous for me personally.

Avatar

It sorta feels like retreading some old ground. Com has Riku regretting his past actions and trying to deal with the darkness that’s inside him and by the end he learns to accept some help. Days and KH2 had this man essentially doing self atonement for a year while struggling to face his old friends. That resolves itself beautifully with his friends only being happy he’s okay and telling him to get a grip cause everyone is fine with him to the point they fight together effortlessly.

I just always found it a little strange they decided to make another game where Riku is doubting himself so heavily when he’s gone through the arc to the point he was chillin on the beach causally. I think I’d have a different opinion if through 3D Riku learned to have fun with situations and adventure again like in KH1.

The exam thing is a bit silly. I’d probably like the outcome more if they truly doubled down on it actually bugging Sora but it’s mainly used for jokes. Logically speaking it also makes no sense considering Sora by definition finished the test. If anything, Riku got an A+ but Sora still did 100% and showed his work!

KH3D is still a very fun game and I love how open it is. I don’t even hate the big twist and end stuff at all. I just think some of the narrative decisions were odd. For example, bare minimum, there’s no reason Kairi couldn’t have gone to mysterious tower with them from the start. Personally I would’ve made the Final Exam double as Kairi’s orientation considering everyone assumed the test was safe and going as planned. That gets into an entirely separate opinion though.

Avatar

I feel like Kairi and Xion would start a friendly rivalry after Kairi starts getting really good with her keyblade. Like, they compete to see who can clear out the most heartless when they show up.

Avatar

I’d Imagine Xion would feel a little like Roxas whenever she shadowed him for work in the beginning.

Kairi is just politely watching Xion do her thing in order to learn and gain ideas while Xion is now awkwardly being a leader/example for her to follow. The two easily get along and will sooner get themselves into a chaotic situation rather than saying “let’s call it for a day.”

Outside of training, it’s just also very warming and thought provoking for Kairi to see someone who is not only a bit similar to Sora, but his precious memories of her given this wonderfully new and unique experience. Xion is quick to tell Kairi all sorts of compliments and praise whenever the girl is feeling down on herself. There’s never been any doubt about Sora’s feelings yet it makes a difference hearing someone like Xion saying “he thinks the world of you.”

Which "The World That Never Was" music did you like more? The one for KH2 or the one for KH:DDD? Both are very good and have their own feels.

Avatar

KH3D had some issues but that music isn’t one of them. Deep Drop is such a good battle theme and Sacred Distance has awesome strings.

Maybe it’s because it’s our second visit to that World but something about it in 3D makes it feel like more of a world/dungeon too. In a similar way with how CoM made Castle Oblivion feel like a new place on the final floor despite us always being there.

Avatar

You ever thought about making oc kids for Kingdom Hearts?

Avatar

Many times. I have old outlines for some, including lore for my KHUX character. Maybe I never really shared it because in a way, they were real and hanging out with guild doing raids.

Sometimes I still think about my time playing KHUX. I still know one person that was in that group. @cindiquilsnivy

Such simpler times. If anyone is actually interested in key kids then I wouldn’t mind sharing.

Avatar

KH question: favorite ship? And favorite rarepair?

Avatar

I’m always going to be a softie for Sokai and Rokushi as my favorites. They make me smile so much.

Rare pair is Venqua. It’s so difficult to describe why I like it. It feels so dorky yet genuine. Serious yet unserious to the point their friends are like “yall are over reacting. Just go to lunch.” I should probably do more content around it. Ven slightly having this impression of her being so mature and him needing to bring his A-game while Terra is in the other room calling Aqua a social disaster that needs to get out more.

Shout out to @starcharmfunzies for occasionally giving me something to hyperfixate on.

Avatar

Which OC child is hit the hardest in the event of Jaune's sudden death. Who is least affected?

Avatar

Definitely Yujin. She’s his little princess and has been the main parent in her life. It would be very hard on her if he left her life. (kinda like another father and daughter duo)

Lucas would see it coming. It would be rough at first but he gets the benefit of processing that news before it’s real.

Avatar

Kingdom hearts question let's see...

Has Kairi beaten Riku in a spar? If so, how'd he react?

Avatar

This sounds like a mental rollercoaster for Riku. I feel like sparring began with him going easy until he gets hit in the face because she realized he was going a little easy on her. He really doesn’t want to hit her full on, but at the same time he absolutely will not leave his defense down, but that doesn’t make her any less frustrated.

She’s won twice by breaking through his defenses which is impressive but she’s not entirely satisfied until they have a real good fight. Riku promised if she wins a third then he’ll come out swinging next time. (He’s tired of getting hit.)

Avatar

Which OC do you feel you'd get along with the best?

Avatar

In a very unique way, probably Mona. Close second would Veronica.

Lots of crazy conversations and potential tears to be have with those two.

Avatar

Ignore if you already answered something like this, but if genshin released a 5 star version of a current 4 star who would you want it to be?

Avatar

I’m gonna be spiteful and say Sethos; give him back the power. It would’ve been cool.

Chongyun but the 5 star version has his Yang energy going out of control. Also give me 5 star Collei who can use her forbidden powers.

Amber for selfish reasons lol
