“Hm?” He traces his fingers lightly over your arm, leaving a trail of goosebumps on your soft skin. You squirm slightly and he laughs softly.

“Do you think we would’ve met if it wasn’t for Haechan and his stupid party?”

You look into his eyes, searching, and he stills for a moment. You wait patiently, letting him think.

“You mean if he hadn’t pushed the two of us into his wardrobe because of the whole ‘seven minutes in heaven’ thing?”

Renjun’s voice is tinged with amusement, and you grin too, remembering Haechan’s party and the long game of truth or dare that had been one of the highlights of the night. You don’t think you can ever forget the way Jaemin began kissing everyone sloppily on their cheeks, or how Mark almost tripped down the staircase while trying to get Haechan’s neighbor to buy a banana for ten bucks as a dare. When it had been Renjun’s turn and he’d chosen to perform a dare, Haechan had forced you and him to play seven minutes in heaven in his tiny wardrobe.

Although nothing explicit had occurred, that had been the first time you’d met Renjun.

“Yeah,” you nod, leaning your head on his chest.

You recall how nervous you’d been in the dark, shut inside the closet with a stranger for company, but Renjun had cracked a few lame jokes in an attempt to break the ice. They weren’t funny (although he likes to claim otherwise) but that night had ended with the two of you exchanging numbers and promising to meet up at a nearby cafe the next week.

Eventually, that evolved into where you are currently - snuggling with Renjun while he holds you in his arms, your legs tangled together underneath the unicorn-patterned comforter you’d bought as a one-month anniversary gift, sharing one pillow.

Renjun hums, lost in thought - you know he’s reminiscing too - and you tilt your head up and brush your lips against his cheek.

“If I’m being honest, no,” he admits, looking at you.

Your tears were endless, breath sharp and heavy as you became overwhelmed with stress. It was hard being a college student, being overloaded with homework and extra classes. The homework you were trying to do was hard and you felt stupid for leaving it undone for so long, but you had been busy.

Warm hands placed themselves on your shoulders, reaching around your neck to pull you into the body behind you. Renjun rested his head on your shoulder, leaving light kisses on your neck. This wasn’t the first time he had come home to you like this, and he hated it, but he knew all he could do was just be there to comfort you.

Renjun reached over and closed your laptop, deciding for you that you had done enough work for the night. “rest now, we can worry about it in the morning, love,” his sweet voice entered your ears and you just nodded, turning to cuddle closer to the man. If it weren’t for him, you probably would have continued to stress yourself to the point you’re physically ill.

❏ cooking together. the way jung jaehyun can make a task as ordinary as cooking romantic. when he notices that you’re not able to tie your apron, he makes his way towards you, helping you tie it without uttering a word till he’s done. “shall we get to cooking then, love?”

❏ him tying your hair/you drying his hair. “that definitely isn’t it,” you chuckled as you felt his fingers in your hair, trying to tie a high ponytail, but failing miserably. “it doesn’t look that bad!” jaehyun retorted, tying the last knot of the hair-tie. “alright, A++ for efforts then!”

❏ even the shortest text from one puts a smile on the other’s face. be it a small “have a good day!” or a short “ily,” it always has the other smiling.

a small smile makes its way up to jaehyun’s lips, with the dimples showing as jaehyun softly says to himself, “i love you too, my love.”
