the truest ADHD ally of our time was my professor who during a field exam handed me a newt and told me to hold it and I was like “what do you want me to do with this” thinking it was for the test and he shrugged and said “it’s just to keep ya busy”

not to be cheesy but my wildlife professors who probably had little to no training specific to teaching students with learning & developmental disabilities still really understood how to teach those students and I have to believe it’s because they have dedicated their lives to understanding life and its value on even the most microscopic level and they’ve learned patience from studying the most still animals and the change in a prairie over time and the growth of trees and they really do go out to the woods to find peace and to share their passion with students and they’re the type of people who stop to listen before they speak

and certain things become clear to a person like that, the sort of person who has spent their life listening and learning and letting the world show them things they don’t know

so when they end up with a student with trouble staying still and being quite during tests, things like this are easy for them. he knew amphibians were my special interest. he knew I needed to be occupied. so he said “here’s a newt”

I wish every teacher were like those professors I was so lucky to have

idk it’s a common joke among wildlife professionals that they got into their work because they don’t like dealing with people but I’ve often found that doing what they do has made them some of the most empathetic, thoughtful people I’ve ever met

At that [rehearsal], Tom saw that the production designer had put a giant lobster tank in the center of the restaurant and that was just a true design choice just to make it seem like a fancy restaurant. As soon as Tom sees it, he goes, ‘Well, I’m going to go in the tank.’

Even if you’re Tom Hardy, you don’t just jump in a lobster tank and call it day. “The designer was like, ‘We didn’t build it for somebody to go in!’” Fleischer says. “And, you know, they were all live lobsters.”

Then improvised direction required the rejiggering of major elements to allow for Eddie/Venom to plunge into and feast, and for Hardy to do it all safely. As anyone who witnessed the The Mask-like spectacle, they pulled off the construction and stunt work under the wire. And the lobsters gobbled up by a Venomized Eddie? Marshmallow crustaceans with chocolate syrup blood.

2017 is off to a great start. I just got sent this on AO3. This is my fucking fic. I’ve reached peak Internet. There is no where to go from here.

Before somehow this gets flagged as adult content. Happy (almost) two year anniversary of Eastern European mom reading my shoddy final fantasy blowjob scene in line at Disney Land.

Have we ever discussed the fact that 2001 - 2012 Disney channel’s shows all had strong female leads, with the exception of Zack and Cody but they had a black man in charge, a smart poor white blonde girl and a dumb rich Asian so still beautifully diverse.

Disney was 100% female empowerment and showed diversity. Who did they employ to create the shit they have today?

Of the shows with girls as leads, two of them were POC and their heritage was actively acknowledged throughout the show. We have a Wizards of Waverly Place episode featuring a quincenera and we have That’s So Raven, which actually did a lot to talk about body image and addressed the issue of antiblack racism.

Not to mention Zack and Cody had a working single mother (a divorcee at that!!) who was respected, strong, and amazing. Also a PoC bellhop who was a crucial role and in nearly every episode, and whose heritage was always known and respected. That’s So Raven had a lovely and diverse cast of friends/family, tackled topics that every teenager faces, like stress from school and work, body positivity and racism that runs in our country, all while still having banter that was classic in Disney. This also doesn’t even brush on the animated series that Disney had at this time, like Lilo and Stitch, The Proud Family, Kim Possible, and American Dragon Jake Long, which all had either strong female leads, PoC, or a mix of both.
