The Irish Aesthete: Ruins of Ireland, by Robert O'Byrne
I've just finished Iron Heart and Ms Varela I have Got to KNOW: does Ayla ever find out her brother is banging the queen? It's like never addressed in the book. Everyone else knows. Crier knows. But Ayla is like "oh yes Storme is Junn's closest advisor, good for him" and that's it. Does she ever find out? Does Crier just get more and more awkward about the situation as time goes on, and like she wonders if it's been too long to mention why Storme works so closely with Junn? Nina I've got to know!!!!
SCREAMS
yes she does find out, probably within like a month of the final confrontation with kinok, and her response is basically: “good for you. please never, ever speak to me about this, and CERTAINLY do not speak to me about whatever you two have been getting up to with my close personal friend benjy.”
— iron heart (2020)
She looked the same as last night—red uniform, messy dark braid, big brown eyes. She carried the same intensity about her, like heat waves rising from her skin, even though she was just standing in the doorway and not currently in the middle of saving Crier’s life. Like she was more than a human girl. Like she was a summer storm made flesh.

Crier's War (2019)
literature women from A-Z → Crier of Rabu
Crier was beautiful. Created to be beautiful, but it was more than that; more than perfect bone structure and symmetrical features and flawless brown skin. It was the way her eyes lit up with interest, the way her fingers were always so careful, almost reverent, as she flipped the pages of a book. The way she held absolutely still sometimes, like a deer in the woods, so still that Ayla wanted to touch her, reach out and touch her face to make sure she was still real.
MAKE ME CHOOSE — @venka asked: crier’s war or the seven husbands of evelyn hugo?
There was something terrible in her, something clawed and angry and afraid and sad… The truth of Ayla, the pain of her, was like a song you could feel vibrating on the air, even if you didn’t know the words. It was a hum, low and throaty and full of sorrow.
hey crier’s war fans! I’m going to do a very small acrylic charm order of this design, and I’ve put it up for preorder on my store! (preordering will help me know how many to get)

crier had been designed. crier was made. but in the moment ayla first touched her, crier had learned what it felt like to be born.

Stop thinking about her. Why was it so hard?
