Interview with Miyazaki

Pointing out a few things that were interesting to me, while avoiding already mentioned details.

- Miyazaki is working on the concept of Sekiro’s plot, but the scenario, character dialog and texts are done by other staff (while still acting as supervisor). He mentions that his way of storytelling has a habit, so the decision was also to introduce a bit of freshness to this project. Sekiro features a more story driven ”easier to understand” narrative focusing more on the characters, compared to their other recent titles which featured a rather ambiguous narrative told through the world and it’s many little texts.

- World is set in a fictional Sengoku era, so historical figures won’t make an appearance (good decision imo).

- The amount and size of areas, as well as the number of boss battles, won’t change much compared to their other titles.

-|| “Have you played Koei Tecmo’s Nioh?”

-|| ”Yes, of course I played it!” (Also he’s very aware of Nioh 2 and Ghost of Tsushima).

-|| “After the June 2016 interview it was said that there are 3.5 projects in planning-”

-|| “There were in fact 3.5 projects in motion since then. 0.5 is Déraciné, 1.0 is Sekiro, and the remaining 2.0 are two unpublished titles that are still being developed” (told ya ;0). Okay I don’t get the next part exactly, but I think he meant to say “Both of them are something you would expect from us”

Note* Dark Souls Remastered and METAL WOLF CHAOS XD are not part of that 2.0 since they were handled by outside studios.

Note* Miyazaki admits they went a bit overboard with the BB easter eggs in Déraciné, mainly due to the staff “loving Bloodborne”. Imo this could mean two things, either they “disclosed” too much from what they initially planned, or they are aware that these specific easter eggs would create unrealistic expectations in fans if in case they actually weren’t having any plans of doing a direct/indirect sequel.

Some people took it upon themselves to cut out and redraw hundreds of parts from the manga panel, just so it can be rigged and animated. + All the good voice acting and sound effects. This obviously took a great deal of time and effort, and a good sense for direction. Really looking forward to this team growing with each new episode.

I don’t know them, but I felt like this is really worth sharing. So if you’re into Berserk, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, or any dark fantasy whatsoever; do yourselves a favor v
