My debut novel!

Anyone a fan of my fanfics? Also a fan of sapphics, secret relationships, wlw mlm solidarity, alternate history, arson, and destroying corrupt systems? Well, have I got a book for you! BURN THE HOUSE DOWN is my self-published debut novel about the first woman president, Janine Moore, as she struggles to balance her presidential ambitions with her relationships with her daughter and her secret girlfriend. Sound interesting? Check out the link here.

Here’s the blurb for those that are interested!

In 1935, Janine Moore was just another Congressman’s widow who ascended to his seat by promising to continue his legacy. Twelve years later, the White House burned, with President Janine Moore left standing in the ashes.

It’s been fifty years since Janine Moore was president. Few remember her “Accidental Presidency,” and even fewer know that it was no real accident. After half a century of the truth gathering dust, the story of the first female president finally spills from the lips and pens of the most important people in her life—a gripping tale of political intrigue, heedless ambition, desperate motherhood, and a sixty-year forbidden love affair that will shake everyone’s ideas of what truly went down in an administration destined to burn.

What lengths was a farmer’s daughter willing to go to in order to climb the stairs to the White House and break the greatest glass ceiling in the world? Why did her famously temperamental relationship with her second husband crash and burn? And most importantly, who burned down the White House that fateful night?

Listen. Listen. I get the plot intentions of Monty and the Cat King as characters and what they were supposed to be for Edwin in terms of his sexual awakening/coming to terms with his sexuality/accepting the fact that you can, actually, fall in love with a boy. I get the slow burn for Charles and Edwin and I love it.

But as a fanfic writer known for my poly ships and fics, do you really think I'm going to not find some kind of way in my fic series to organically bring the Cat King and Monty back into the story and give them a chance to figure their shit out with Edwin/explore the fantastic dynamics/tiny details that the show dropped into my lap?

(Spoiler alert: yes, I'm finding a way to get Edwin three boyfriends. And Charles is still figuring things out with Crystal. And hell, Crystal and Niko are going to have a thing too because you cannot convince me that the sparkling lights were all dandelion sprites and not the meeting of two sapphic idiots.)

Dead Boy Detectives Finale AU: Jenny POV Chapter!

We've got some plot stuff going down in this chapter but also the first establishment of the Jenny/Night Nurse dynamic, the Cat King, Jenny, and the Night Nurse having a perfectly batshit conversation, and a major plot twist explaining what's been going on with Monty!

Hope y'all enjoy!

You have to understand that I love every doctor equally but in different ways. 9 and 12 are my favorites, 10 has the most fascinating arc, and 11 and 13 crawl inside my ribs and pry themselves into my lungs and refuse to let me look away from their big bright lonely eyes and horrific coping mechanisms (though that last one might apply to every Doctor). Can't wait to see where 15 fits in on that scale!

WAIT HOLD UP A MINUTE THE CAT KING KISSED MONTY HOW DID I MISS THAT I AM RAPIDLY INCORPORATING THAT INTO MY FIC PLANS

Update: this has somehow become a very important subplot in developing both of their characters both internally and how they interact with not just each other, but others. I'm like fourteen "chapters" into planning/writing my greater AU and they're not even romantically interested in each other yet (their relationships with Edwin have been the main focus, but I am DOWN to explore things further down the line) and somehow this ONE MOMENT has become a lynchpin of their character development. I'm blaming @theongp for being the person who pointed the kiss out.

the tension between wanting to read other fanfic for inspiration and being so far into my AU/invested in the specific poly dynamics in my brain that I cannot comprehend monogamy/people setting fics in the ACTUAL post-canon setting

I just want to remind everyone how affordable buying food from indigenous tribes is. I live in a major city and I was able to purchase and ship (15) pounds of fish from back home to myself for cheaper than I could buy it from a grocery store here in the city. Yeah, shipping has its own environmental factors but I was able to support an indigenous owned business while also getting my groceries at a lesser cost. (Buying in bulk is always a good idea if you’re planning on having something shipped to you)

Some tribal owned grocers that ship:

Tanka Bars (Oglala)

Twisted Cedar Wine (Cedar Paiutes)

Seka Hills Olive Oil and Vinegars (Yocha Dehe Wintun)

Honor the Earth (? Anishinaabe)

Nett Lake Wild Rice (Boise Forte Anishinaabe)

Passamaquoddy maple (Passamaquoddy)

BONUS: coffee :)

Yeego Coffee (Navajo)

Spirit Mountain Roasting (Yuma Quechan)

Birchbark Coffee (Anishinaabe)

Small correction:

Honor the Earth is an organization founded by Winona Duke of the White Earth Nation (Anishinaabe/Ojibwe) with Amy Ray and Emily Saliers (LGBTQ musical duo Indigo Girls and long-time political activists.) You can buy Honor The Earth merch online to support the environmental work they do, specifically to help protest Enbridge Oil’s Line 3 Pipeline routed through tribal lands that endangers wild rice beds which are both a staple crop and sacred to Anishinaabeg.

However, Winona also heads up a hemp farm called Winona’s Hemp & Heritage Farm located on and run primarily by members of the White Earth Nation. It seeks to general local wealth for the tribe by encouraging the production of hemp as a fast-growing renewable and regenerative crop resource to be used for everything from non-plastic textiles/clothing, housing construction and insulation, food products, and CBD products! (They also grow other crops there such as heirloom varieties of corn, beans, squash, Jerusalem artichokes, potatoes, and ceremonial tobacco in an effort to help re-establish and increase tribal food sovereignty!)

They have both a brick-and-mortar shop called The Hemp Market Store and Coffee Shop in Osage MN where they sell their products and others by Indigenous-owned & -run companies! (They also sell those seasonal tribal heirloom crops there including Lakota squash and Ojibwe purple potatoes.)

But you can also buy many of their products online including hemp-fiber clothing, hemp tea, and hemp pasta. They also partnered with an experienced tribal herbalist to formulate CBD medicinal products like balms and oils (haven’t used it myself, but I the CBD balm for my mom for Christmas a few years back and she said it helped her chronic hip pain a lot.)

If you are not physically disabled, I want to ask you to do one tiny thing. Download this app. And every time you are about to go out with your friends, check the location you're going to go to.

Then drop a note in the group chat or on the Evite or whatever letting people know what the situation is. Lifting that bit of work off of your disabled friends is going to be hugely welcome, especially if you're the one to ask for changes. "Hey that restaurant looks tasty, but it's going to be a hassle if anybody needs to use wheels or a cane ( or has a stroller or anything else that your friend group might need), can we get takeout instead? Or go to this other cool place up the block?"

If you want to do a big thing, anytime you go somewhere that is poorly rated, let them know on a comment card or with a quick email that you're disappointed in their lack of accessibility. And vice versa, if you go somewhere that's well rated, send them a note to say thank you.

you know, sometimes I almost feel bad for destroying characters as I am wont to do, peeling them apart from the inside out and putting them through some of the worst circumstances any person has ever had to go through, living or dead, just so I can explore their psyche/reactions to said SituationTM, but then I remember that I'm going to eventually let them get their hug and their healing arc and I just start giggling and going "oh, my readers are going to LOVE me being a dick"

Dead Boy Detectives Finale AU: Cat King POV!

Chapter 3 in our "Going to the Underworld to Bring Niko Back" finale AU is up, and this time it's the Cat King's POV- woohoo, right? The Cat King's POV was so much fun to write, considering how strong his voice is. Hope you enjoy a bit more of the Hades/Persephone metaphor, a study of his feelings for Edwin, and the team finally entering the afterlife to save Niko!

Dead Boy Detectives Finale AU Chapter 2: Charles POV!

What it says on the tin: this is chapter 2 of my AU where Edwin convinces everyone to save Niko from the afterlife. This chapter is from Charles' POV and explores his relationship with Edwin/his POV on the events of the season/Edwin's latest deal with the Cat King. Enjoy, y'all!
