I will never stop loving the concept of Shidge where she knew about him from her father (who admired Shiro a lot, his best student tbh). Pidge got to know him as a family friend and sure, liked him enough, but didn’t think much of it at the time you know? He’s got his life, she’s got hers, etc.
But then they’re brought together in the most unexpected way by outside circumstances. He comes back into her life, opening a door that brings her so much closer to finding her family than she ever would’ve been alone. They have a common goal now, to find her family, to bring them back safely and they work together for this goal that ties them together, for the family (Sam, Matt) that ties them together.
And wherever they end up post-war, doing their own thing, finding some balance and normality in life again and achieving personal goals, they are brought back by their bond through Voltron, through the Holts being like a second family to Shiro. Like they always have something bringing them back together, these two seemingly very different people.
Shidge has the perfect makings of such a concept, I think. It could be so beautiful in the hands of the right storytellers.
