Shiro begins to laugh a bit, seeing Hunk getting all stress and worked up Shiro wonders if Hunk has ever felt anything similar before. Romance and other normal human basic needs are something they haven’t had the luxury to afford for a while. But it was nice to see the others have not forgotten...
“Hunk calm down, relax, you are acting just like the first time we have gone to Balmera. Honestly, gender has no room when it comes to the matter of romance, just... think about that alright? You will be fine whatever preference you choose, if you are happy that’s what counts right?”

He knew the other intent, whenever or not Lance notices them or not is another question. But he can see the admiration the other hold against him even after all the years in the garrison and then more during their time in Space, and like all things, Shiro just wanted to offer what he could, share that wisdom he held.
But it was nice to know that the other had his back, it seems that their time together has made him grow up to the fine man he is today. He hopes one day, Lance would get those affections he craves in return.
Shiro is utterly oblivious to any sort of affection. At least mine is.... and given it’s basically canon with Shiro STUTTERING like an idiot seeing Keith all grown up and change, means he is actual a loser when it comes to that department.

is it a crime for him to admit that after coming back from being dead, Keith looked and felt different from the boy he once knew, help guide him in the right direction? Is he a bad person for admiring him with a whole new light? He hated to think Keith would have thrown away his life the way he did that time, just for the sake of an old promise...
He wished, sometimes, he just... let him go. He wasn’t worth it, no matter how many times Shiro heart flutter thinking Keith does indeed love him. Guess there are some things he isn’t ready to speak out yet.

HARDLY surprised when the other show up one day out of the blue.
“As I’m sure given how... Allura gave you a run for your money.” the princess temper was not one to fiddle with plus it was legendary among their team! “It’s a form of expression before you ask, and honestly still trying to wrap my mind around all of this,” he admitted to him, keeping his expression passive, but with a hint of cautiousness. As he sat there with his only arm resting on the table in front of him.

“I don’t think that’s how adulthood works Keith…” he would know, given, he kind of helped others find their place in the world a few times. Keith was his first, then other paladins just kind of line up afterward. Not to say he would call himself a father but… he is the oldest among them and he took most of his duties seriously.
“And I am sure that’s not the way I encourage you…” he snorted a bit, “Why do you say that? Are the others giving you a hard time?” he tries hard not to smirk, but it was interesting to see Keith lead the team now that he is out of commission for the time being.

Don’t think about it romantically, don’t think about it romantically. This is a trick, you know it. Keith just being generous with his affections as of late, just because he had more time to spend with his mother, that’s all. He really doesn’t mean that... he just values him that’s all! Yeah! Keith nudged Shiro’s side and shook his head. “Now it really feels like you’re trying to get rid of me.” It was a joke, but only slightly laced with honesty. “We’ll set things right for you Shiro, I promise.” He sighed, moving off Shiro’s shoulders and looking towards the ground.
“The Galra don’t think there’s anything special about Earth, so we at least have that advantage. Maybe we can avoid a fight until we’re ready. Wishful thinking, I know.” But still, he could hope. Earth was their home, and he’d hate for anything to happen to it on their account. Besides, maybe they would already have a head start if Sam Holt had been able to convince the Garrison about the possibility of an alien invasion.
Keith let his gaze soften as he moved his gaze back to Shiro’s eyes. He felt a little guilty, being away from the team as long as he had back then, but he needed it. At least he’d been assured Shiro was fine. Now, he wasn’t so sure. “I want to believe you Shiro.” He did, but he also knew it wouldn’t be easy. Shiro was always trying to carry all his burdens himself.
“Promise me… Promise me that if you need anything, you’ll come to me. I don’t care what it means.” Keith had meant what he said back then, even if the person he had said it to wasn’t the real Shiro. He loved him, and he would do anything for him, anything to make his world right. He didn’t think there was any way Shiro could know what he’d said and bringing it up… Keith didn’t want to burden Shiro with the knowledge of the fight. Best he didn’t know too much about it.

Dare he says he can promise those words? Or dare he actually lie to him about it just so Keith feels at ease? Would he be worst off by lying to him? Guilt ate at him, but he swallows it and sighed, “I can’t make any promises that will be a way to distract you but if things get rough I will not hesitate then.” that much he can tell him, to share with him. Besides, Keith has enough in his plate as it is, be with the blade of Marmora, team Voltron, being a leader, his mother, and his pet wolf, he doubts he will take the time to notice a few mishaps from someone like him.
“So long as you promise me you will give it your best and whatever happens do not get distracted with the mission.” even if it means his life could be at stake again. He died once, he can die again without so much of a blink. His time being gone had given him enough time to come to terms or reflect more than anything of not being able to return to life. He just so happens to be lucky Allura magic was something beyond human understanding.
“Promise me, Keith, you will do that for me.” he asks, looking into his eyes, as he turns fully to put his attention on the other, “Promise that even though you promise to save me, you will put that above other things.” he was not his clone, he would not let Keith willing disregard his life that way, he isn’t selfish to ask Keith to do that. What kind of mentor would he be if that was his original thoughts when he offers to help young Keith?
That’s... abusing Power, he refuses to do that.
