Of all the endings they could have given us, I’m actually okay with this one.

Dean never saw himself as someone who would get married, have kids, have a life outside of hunting, and he was okay with that. He wanted Sam to give him permission to die, say he’d be okay without him. Dean knew it was his time, his final time. Sam was able to have a life and marry Eileen, who I assume was the woman on the porch. Who knows if he kept hunting or what happened to the bunker, but Sam got to do what he’s always wanted deep inside… what Dean felt like he’d held his brother back from.

Dean going out in a battle during a hunt, being able to say goodbye to Sam, and being okay with his own demise… that’s how we all hoped he was gonna die.

Sam dying of old age, surrounded by memories of his family (both past and present), completely non-violently… that’s how we all hoped he was gonna die.

Their first words in heaven to each other were the first words they said to each other on screen.

And that… is perfect.

This. All of this. I’m not mad about the ending. It just hurt and it’s gonna take some time to get okay.

I’m all about it.
