The touch alone would have been enough to break his heart- Vax’ildan turned at it, to meet the other’s gaze. “You won’t,” the words tumbled from his lips without consideration, he had no intention of going anywhere. “You won’t.” More certainty this time, but still a hesitance in those eyes. Vax’ildan exhaled softly, grasping Gilmore’s hand and giving it a small squeeze.

The hand on his shoulder caused him to turn– he smiled at Keyleth, shifting to take her hand, but then it was on his cheek, and he nuzzled into her palm just slightly. “It’s alright,” his voice was soft, he placed his hand over hers on his cheek.

     His gaze follows her their hands when Keyleth weaves her fingers into his, following her lead as she raises them between the two before his eyes leave them to look at Keyleth proper. Jokes on him, because it’s about as soon as he looks away from her hand that it leaves his to boop him on the nose and catch him a little off guard. “Ahh, wh-”      Head tilting backwards after the touch, he can’t help himself be smile and offer a bout of brief laughter at the rather silly wordless exchange. “Thank you, I think?”

His first reaction was a sharp inhale- hand on his head, he leaned into, but then it drifted to his ear and his muscles tensed. Vax’ildan withdrew to study her- he felt a great, deep ache in his bones, an exhaustion he could not explain. What was he to say? he opened his mouth, but nothing came to mind, so he closed it again.
