Summary: Celine Dawn, daughter of the Rosewood Pack's Beta, is not what you would call an ordinary she-wolf. She hides a dark past behind her blue eyes. She has many secrets. Ones she would kill to keep from being revealed. So what happens when she finds out the Moon Goddess has paired her with the Continent's most powerful and feared Alpha?

Tyler Williams is the Alpha of the Silver Lake Pack. The biggest and most powerful pack on the whole Continent. He had been invited to Rosewood to improve diplomatic relations with them. He decided to go to the Mating Ball out of pure curiosity.

He is, however, taken aback when he learns that the Beta's prickly daughter, with literal flames in her eyes, is his mate. He feels drawn to her, wanting to find out every detail about her. But Celine isn't as willing to divulge answers as he'd hoped.

She is so much stronger than he thinks. But, alas, even the strongest among us can break.

My mother had been ecstatic when I told her I’d be bringing my mate back to Silver Lake. From what I’d learned after Erin whisked Lin upstairs, Mom had prepared a traditional dinner. Now, along with James, Kai, and Tom, she and I sat at the table, waiting for my mate and sister to come downstairs.

Laughter sounded from around the corner, and then the females in question emerged.

I woke up to one hell of a headache. Surprisingly, I was on the ground by the fire instead of the sleeping area where James and Kai still slept. But not Celine. No, my mate crouched before the fire, still gazing at the fading embers with unblinking eyes. She was shaking, not from the cold, but exhaustion. Her face was paler than usual, and I could see dark circles under her eyes.

We were all ready to leave. Except for my mate, for whom we’d been waiting for the past half hour.

I stood leaning against a tree, as did James and Kai. Nathaniel was here as well. He was fidgeting, itching to get back to his pregnant mate, no doubt.

“Where is Celine?” I finally asked.

Nathaniel cast a bored glance my way, approaching me. “The cemetery.”

The following five days passed by relatively quickly.

Mostly, I trained-- without my mate’s audience, thank the gods. I didn’t see him anyway. Which was good; I’d have more than enough time with him ogling me during our journey to Silver Lake.

I sat at the dining table in the Pack House. Me, James, and Kai had arrived quite early. The breakfast was to begin at 10 a.m, the clock above the mantel still showed 9:50. I sat to the right of the head of the table. My Beta and Gamma sat next to me.

I knew why I was so impatient. Celine had yet to arrive. I couldn’t help but hope and wonder whether she’d show up. She said she would but… 9:51. There was still time. Maybe she’d be late.
