It seems to me that Emilia has really confused herself and her own personal wishes with what the character she played was repeatedly shown to have prioritized and valued. Because Daenerys didn’t love anyone, least of all Jon Snow. She wanted to control him, minimize him, and dominate him.

Ironically right now Emilia seems to be the embodiment of all of the things the GoT fandom derided young Sansa Stark for in Season 1: holding a naively idealistic view of a dreadful person and wanting above all else to be at the center of a romantic narrative that emphasizes her beauty and innocence.

i’m honestly so confused right now. where did people get the idea that sansa just decided for herself, with zero input from the north, to be queen? why do you think they’d accept that? they literally just escaped a tyrant. do ya’ll really think they would’ve chosen anybody else? who? i mean, they’ve tried multiple times to make her queen, have consistently recognised how she’s the person looking after their interests and safety, and it’s been made quite clear to the audience they’d never bend for anybody but a stark. would they have preferred robb or jon? honestly, most likely. they’d definitely prefer at least robb but hey, that’s not an option. what we do know for a fact is that they preferred sansa to jon at one point and we know they were 100% willing to choose her over him until she denied them.

let’s be very, very clear here: sansa hasn’t betrayed anybody. sansa has put her family and the north before herself for almost 3 seasons straight now and has on multiple occasions tried to increase the security of the power of her family and people (often at the expense of herself). ya’ll have reached the point where you’re actively lying to yourself just so you can be salty. frankly it’s embarrassing.

There are a lot of things about S8 of GOT that I too did not love. HOWEVER, I think the petulant petition is fucking dumb. And the thing that annoys me about the petition bullshit the most is this completely asinine (also, fake) narrative that the people that put this thing together and/or signed it are somehow “supporting” the cast and crew by making their dissent public. Emilia really said that about Varys, she really blamed Jon for killing Darnerys after what she did and more.

And all of this after she said that she wanted to show Daenerys in her last scene “as we saw her in the beginning: young, naïve, childlike, open, and full of love and hope” because she doesn’t enjoy fans calling Daenerys the Mad Queen.

With all due respect for Emilia but she talks like her crazy fans… in her eyes Daenerys is still an angel and all the other characters were the devil because they didn’t kiss her a*s and therefore Daenerys was justified for what she did… that’s so obnoxious and irritating coming from her.

i really don’t care, but y’all act like she had any choice in the matter. acting is weird. it’s reflective. it’s methodical. she had to be Danaerys for ten years, analyzing scripts and taking notes and filming and being sick during a big part of it and y’all are straight up invalidating everything she’s studied and worked hard for ? you don’t have to like the finale, and you don’t have to say it was good. but quality and character interpretation is subjective and just because it’s presented or illustrated in a show doesn’t mean it’s either done WELL or it’s morally or realistically RIGHT. it just IS.

and she has worked so so hard and admittedly cried and raged over the ending. so let her at least have an honest interview without claiming moral and artistic authority over her choices and her words.

Regardless of how she feels about the end saying that Jon Snow killed Daenerys because he doesn't like women is stupid af even as a joke because it shows that she somehow dismiss what Daenerys did in the previous episode.

Saying that Jon and Daenerys could have worked it out if he just talked with her is worse because it sounds like she thinks that Daenerys deserved a second chance after what she did or that she would have listened to Jon if he asked her to stop her world domination plan, like if what she said to the Dothraki and unsullied is just nothing.

Saying that Varys was warned doesn't make it better that Daenerys burned him alive when he was trying to stop her from committing a genocide.

The final season is already bad enough without Emilia Clarke trying to find the good in what Daenerys did to KL and the innocents she killed.

As I said, with all due respect for Emilia, I found her interviews full of bs.

It couldn’t possibly be because Jon is not the Targaryen who was given too much power at a young age? I mean I guess anything goes for Dany stans at this point, let’s pretend that Jon and Dany were given the exact same circumstances, except they weren’t. One got too much power at a young age, then that power was never kept in check, she was allowed to climb up and up, then she was never really taught the truth of how horrible her ancestors really were since viserys fed her biased lies… in season 7 she straight up compared herself to Gods… Dany gets followers in her journey while Jon has to earn friendships. Dany gets put on a pedestal while Jon is told to sit down and be humble….

So yeah MAYBE if you actually spent a brain cell thinking about it you’ll realise that the Targaryen who doesn’t go “Fire and blood” is the Targaryen who is a Stark… who never grew up thinking he has to fulfil some extraordinary Destiny… Jon Snow is the anti- Dany…. just like how Harry Potter is the Anti-Tom Riddle. They were foils Vanessa! One thinks he doesn’t even deserve winterfell while other is so far gone they associate the throne and power with victory. That’s why people don’t question Jon’s sanity. It’s literally that simple.

People seriously out here pretending it’s because he’s a man when it’s because he doesn’t burn people alive and scream about taking shit with fire and blood. I mean, the show has sexism issues, but this ain’t one of them.

I actually LOVE that Jon is a Targaryen because he is PROOF that you aren’t destined to follow in your family’s footsteps (as many have been saying was the message with dany going dark) it’s about who you choose to be and what you choose to do. Jon’s father was a dumb asshole, Jon didn’t turn out to be anything like him. So he’s a great example that you are not meant to be just like your papa, unless you choose to be. Like dany did, that’s why we question her sanity, she made the choice to kill millions of innocents, fulfilling her father’s dreams. You could blame the writing and cry about how unfair life is, but it’s heavily hinted in the books written by GRRM so 🤷🏽‍♀️

Very well said. No one was questioning Dany’s sanity purely because of her bloodline, it was because of her actions and choices.

Say it with me folks, murdering an entire city of innocents after they have surrendered is not liberating them. And the fact that GoT let everyone involved get away with it is disgusting.

I refuse to believe RLJ was unimportant to Jon’s identity. It absolutely was.

But it was sacrificed to fuel Dany’s pain. It propelled her wants, her desires, her needs.

Jon was sacrificed for the sake of fabricating a romantic tragedy where there was none.

They glorified Dany. And the people behind that decision can burn in hell for it.

In the meantime I will be grieving the second death of Jon Snow for the rest of the month. Because Jon lost. He lost everything. He is right back where he started- an outcast. But now, he’s disgraced himself, which is another massive crime. It’s like Dany took control of his mind and he lost all reason.

I’ll eventually move on from my anger and remember it’s just a tv show that jumped the shark, like so many others. But right now I’m going to rage at how badly Jon was abused and ripped to shreds by Dany, Dan and Dave, and the HBO executives that have a hard on for Dany

It’s bullshit. Jon and Dany are fundamentally, morally incompatible. Period. And they tore Jon’s character to shreds and he lost everything in the process.
