Ruminations of A Dreamer - Part VIII (Viktor x Reader)

Title: Caught. Summary: Viktor realizes that he's caught in his feelings but he never thought he would be caught in a different situation. Series Masterlist –♥– Melancholy gracefully danced around him, dallying with him as he dove deeper into the depth of his mind, finding a thrilling sense of tranquility he often found in the silence of his own lab, the void noise filled with his loneliness and solitude.

However, his spirit felt much lighter, whatever his spirit truly was, for the matter.

However, all of him was carried into the immaculate yet tuneful morosity of the symphonic beauty that enveloped him with more memories of you.

However, even while he was utterly engrossed in the research he had on hand, the mere reminiscent thought of that wonderful evening that you spent together just a few weeks ago, was still as vivid, still as heartwarming as it was on that eve.

... If only he could relive it again.

His hands holding the softness of your figure against his body, the titillating urge to pull you even closer to him yet the fear of you even remotely hearing the thundering beating inside his chest, his heart battling his rib cages while his face flushed deeply at the thoughts invading his mind as he gazed upon the beauty of your sweet visage, the enchanting curve of your lips, the kind look in your eyes and all the refined traits that made you the fascinating creature that you were.

A creature. That, you were. A peculiar specimen that roused within him worrying sensations that compelled Viktor to doubt his health further, but little did he know that his sickness was not a physical. Searching in textbooks in vain for answers that he should find himself.

Ruminations of a Dreamer Part VII - (Viktor x F!Reader)

Title: The Ball. Summary: When you and Viktor attend Mel Medarda’s ball together. (Totally not a date. Totally.) Series Masterlist –♥– On the day of Councillor’s Medarda’s ball, Viktor made it. How? He wasn’t even sure but only temporarily, he had abandoned all his research for the sake of his current project. Your gift. Unfortunately, he couldn't give it to you with his own hands. By the time he was done with the final touches, testing how well it worked, you had already begun your preparations so he trusted one of your maids with it, attaching a small note from him. 'Dearest Y/N, please accept this as a token of our friendship. I believe that this will compliment your natural beauty perfectly. I hope to see you wearing them tonight. Your friend, Viktor.' Now that was done, Viktor had to hurry to the tailor's shop, where Councillor Talis had already requested a suit designed just for his research associate. A small detail that Jayce knew Viktor would forget he would have to prepare before the ball, but had taken care for him, especially considering how engrossed he was on your gift. Only a few hours later, Viktor, handsomely dressed in a black suit and tie, comfortably found his place as a wallflower at the Medarda's ball. While he awaited your arrival, he distracted himself by sifting through his mental notes of his upcoming experiments, idly chatting with any Academy member who happened to come across him. "Viktor!" Jayce called him out from afar, catching his attention while he gestured with a tilt of his head to the entrance to the vast ballroom of the Medrada mansion. There you were, standing and looking around you like a lost child, his legs moved on their own. A smile unconsciously drawn on his thin lips as he took in the sight of you: wrapped in a beautiful form fitting royal blue dress, the red tainting your lips enhancing their delicate shape. "Y/N." He called out to you, the moment your eyes met, the trepidation dissipated from your expression, replaced with a bright smile which only made Viktor's gifts to you shine in return. "Oh!" You gasped, looking down at your neck in surprised, eyes wide as you peered up to Viktor the moment he stood before you. "What.. What is this? Also, hello and thank you." You giggled. A necklace and a hair piece handcrafted with hextech stones in the shape of bruneras, devised specifically to react to the bearer's emotions. The blue stones appeared as precious gemstones, shining bright whenever you felt joy and dimming to a dark blue shade the more neutral and calmer you felt. "One thing at a time, Y/N. Hello to you and it was my utmost pleasure." He smiled, brushing around a stray strand that fell upon your bare shoulders, the tip of his cold fingers barely grazing your soft skin. "Would you like to know why I chose bruneras?" With a shy nod from you, Viktor smiled, reaching for your hand and giving you a quick twirl so he could see the way the hairclip held back the waves of your tresses across your back. "In that dream, the one I recounted to you, I was surrounded by bruneras. And whenever I am with you, I am reminded of that dream." As your hand touched the glimmering stones adorning your chest, you offered him a shaky smile as he continued to explain how they worked. Keeping your hand in his, he gave it a light squeeze as he confessed. "I am appeased and flattered to know that you are happy with your gift." "Of course, I am. I can't even begin to describe how beautiful this is. No one has ever given me a gift as thoughtful as this. I'm speechless." "And so is everyone else gazing upon you." Viktor tried so hard to ignore the tightening in his chest, a strange pang in his heart erupting at the thought of what his statement could entail. Guiding you to one of the nearest pillars, he leaned on the solid column while both of your eyes scoured your surroundings, you filling him in on town gossip that he had no idea would be as interesting as when you told him of it. He found himself snickering too many times for him to be able to count. He felt

so... light. That was the only word he could use to describe what joined the simple happiness of sharing good company. A luxury he was lucky to have this evening. When a certain tune began playing, he noticed the way you stiffened ever so slightly, your eyes lingering longingly over the pairs that found each other on the dancefloor, swaying to the adagio of the music. "Would you like to dance, Y/N?" In moments like these, he wished he had the grace that he never was fated to possess. The limp in his leg was a clear obstruction to that, there was no point for him to combat it, but just find ways to deal with it. "Yes... Yes, I do." You hesitated as you took the hand that he offered you, while he rested his cane on the wall behind him, walking closer to you. "Y/N, I must confess something to you. I'm not a skilled dancer so I cannot guarantee that this will be an enjoyable experience for you." "Viktor, I really couldn't care any less about the dancing." You stated sincerely, shrugging with a carefree attitude you only wore when you were comfortable and confident. "What matters to me is that it's with you. So, Mister." You grinned at him, yet the shyness that riddled you tainted your cheeks in a deep flush of pink, an adorable sight that ensued a ghostly sensation within his chest, an urge to press his lips upon, what he knew would be, the warmth of your skin. That natural flush almost became the same color of the tint on your lips, both of which made you seem even more... becoming. He was not accustomed to such interactions yet he did whatever felt right. Pulling you closer to his body, he placed a firm hand on the small of your back while yours rested upon his shoulder, your other hands linked together tightly. His eyes furrowed in concentration, doing as much as he could to maintain his equilibrium without putting too much pressure on his weak leg, without getting distracted by the loud thumping of his heart against his chest, not realizing that he seemed like he was frowning down at you in the process. "Lean on me, Viktor." You whispered, lifting your chin up to look into his eyes, the melody of the music harmoniously flowing around you, carrying your feet, shifting from one side to another. Just simple enough for him to manage without tripping. You knew what he was going through and this was your way of telling him. "Let me be there for you like you are here for me." You giggled, your voice carrying a beautiful tune on it's own. If only he could tune out all other sounds, an odd certainty came upon him that you would still be able to dance on the sound of your voice alone. "Then hold me tight, Y/N." He leaned down to whisper in your ear, low and smooth, just to make sure you could hear him well. "I cannot fathom the thought of tripping on your beautiful dress." "Do you trust me, Viktor?" The softness of your cheek brushed against his as you angled your face to speak into his other ear. "Yes, I do." He replied without giving it a thought. "Then let us dance until our legs give out." Your jovial giggle marked the beginning of what was an evening the two of you would always remember. The meaning of the comfort you felt in each other's arms was unbeknowst to either of you, yet it was crystal clear. You simply had to truly open your eyes, despite only having each for one another. –♥– Taglist: @theweebrises

Ruminations of a Dreamer Part III (Viktor x F!Reader) "It all started by the riverbank, a place I used to play alone with the gadgets I would create. The sound of the streaming water, the shadows cast by the cliff on the other side, it was all too familiar. What was different, was the intoxicating smell of flowers. I searched around, but there was no sign of any flora." His voice evoked the same wonderment he must've felt in his dream. "It was as if I was standing right there and then. As if... I was a child again." He smiled to himself while reaching and grabbing his cane, standing up and walking towards where you had been seated by the window. "But, I was not a child. I was the Viktor I am today. I could hear the sounds of children playing and the same latent yearning I've always had to join them, yet, my inclinations resided elsewhere." He might not have noticed it but his hand tightened around his cane as he looked over the industrialist beauty of the city. "I was trying out a new gadget. A small boat with a water-fuelled motor. It worked and ahhh... the happiness it made me feel. Till it began rushing away from me, and my leg wouldn't allow me to catch." He sighed, reliving the helplessness that had been a good friend of the loneliness he was fated to. "Not until this luminescent bright blue aura appeared before me, slowly approaching me and... It's hard to explain but it touched me, held my hand and then, it enveloped my whole body. Like a shell yet it was a part of me. It's warmth spreading through me, a strength that I never knew propelling me forward. And believe it or not, I was running. I could... run." His disbelief was tangible in his bittersweet words. "My apologies." He chuckled, his index rubbing sheepishly on the tip of his nose, eyes averted away from you and back to the modern scenery offered by Piltover. "I'm a scientist, not a man of words. I hope my ability to convey some coherent sense through my rambling was not null." His eyes widened as he felt a softness, a warmth blanketing over his hand cradling the head of his cane, darting downwards only to see your hand on his. "Purple prose is lovely and all but it is the emotions evoked in one's words that count more." You squeezed his hand gently, unconsciously so, a surge of emotion erupting within you, apparent in your expression as your gesture urged him to look at you. Ambers finally meeting you, both of you exchanged a brief smile that felt oddly intimate. But it was too much. For both of you. "Ah, pardon me!" You exclaimed apologetically, removing your hand as quickly as you could manage. "It is absolutely f-fine, Miss. I am not bothered in the least." He reassured you. "Uhm..." You hesitated, it was now your turn to avert your eyes, looking down to the floor while your fingers twiddled together. Viktor noticed the way you nervously bit your lip, but he gave you an encouraging smile with a small nod. "I know that look, Miss. Tell me what's on your mind, please." "You know me well." You giggled lightly, a pink tint painting the top of your cheeks. "Your eyes said it all. I could tell how much happiness you felt in that dream... the peace you felt just talking about it." A peculiar connection, something akin to the tension caused by a magnetic force... It was hard to put into words, yet, it was reminiscent of the sensation he felt whenever he would be near those Hextech runes he had been toying with. Hextech. "Maybe someday, I'll find a way to allow people to read each other's minds, revisit or even display their dreams to themselves and others." The excitement in the smile you wore was a precursor to the uncanny erratic glee Viktor always contained so well the moment an epiphany of sorts struck him. Being the rational man that he was, he knew that enthusiasm and motivation played an essential part in his work yet setting aside those emotions was detrimental, as much as he possible could, in order to to do what's necessary to bring his creations to life. "I know that one day, you will." Your affirmation came out as a

certainty. An irrefutable fact that you somehow knew of and he had yet to discover. Placing your hand on his once again, you gave it a gentle squeeze as you stood up. "I must be on my way, Viktor. I've taken up enough of your time already." "Goodbye, Miss." Viktor was surprised at the sound of his own voice. It was... disappointed. "Until we meet again." Ruminations of A Dreamer Part IV - (Viktor x Reader) Was it wrong of him to call upon you all of a sudden? It wasn't something that would be considered peculiar in any shape or form yet the nagging thought ticking in Viktor's mind wouldn't leave him be. You were always the one who dropped by his lab, checking upon his progress and seeing that all his needs were met, whether it came to any additional equipment or funding for anything he required to make things happen. You truly were so generous. He had thought about it many times before but why didn't he ever feel the need to reassure you or even demonstrate any of his work to you when, being the recipient of your benevolence, he owes you a sliver of courtesy towards your support for him? Tapping his foot anxiously on the floor, each tap reinforcing the odd nervousness boiling slowly within him at the strange train he's found himself on. How he found himself in a position where, whilst he created a whole farce to have you join him in his lab, he realized that he had been... Now he was just repeating himself. Hoping that the small note he handed to your maid would reach you soon, Viktor sighed, throwing his gaze at his messy desk, filled with scribbles on his notebooks, loose papers. What was it that he wanted to show you again? Closing his eyes, he created a mental checklist of all his current experiments, taking note of each and every one that could be of interest to you. He probably was overthinking this. His words always came so naturally to him when he spoke about science and his innovations. He inhaled deeply and breathed out shakily, again and again, until whatever unnecessary nervousness left his body. Fast and loud clicking could be heard from the hall leading to his lab, rushed footsteps falling on the marbled floors and suddenly stopped right in front of his door. Then, silence ensued. Then, a soft knock, causing Viktor to chuckle lightly. "Yes, Miss." He spoke before you had the chance to announce yourself. "Please come in." He flashed you a small smile as you poked your head in, opening the door slightly ajar then finally stepped in. "I invited you so I am, of course, expecting you, Miss." "I know. How foolish of me." Your shy laughter accompanying your words roused a novel effervescene in his chest, one that made him feel an absurd need to open his chest and see what was happening inside what was encased in his ribcages. "Your note mentioned that there was something that you would like to discuss with me. Shall we get on with it?" "Oh yes, in matter of fact, I have so many things." Viktor was proud of the work he has done and sharing it with someone who cared about it, despite not understanding it fully, brought upon him a childlike giddiness that did not necessarily show, but was still present. Using the help of his cane, Viktor twisted on his heels in the direction of his desk, turning his head to look at you. Frozen in place and standing right where you were and making no sign of moving. Tilting his head in a wordless inquiry, he couldn't help the way your fingers played with the ends of your hair as you mustered to find the words you wanted to say. "Anything the matter, Miss?" Viktor asked. "If there are other investors that would like to work with you, I do not wish to stand in the way of your success, Viktor." Words spoken like a true citizen of Piltover, with uncharacteristic assertion despite the emotions brimming from the waters of your orbs. You were not like them. Yet, It still reminded him that you both came from two different worlds. The kindhearted and bright upside and the genius undercitizen. How such an uncanny pair you were. "Do as you please and I promise I shall support you no matter what decisions you make. I promise you that." You continued, the bewilderment in Viktor growing by the second. "Miss, I have no intention of working with the help of anyone else." He shook his head, hoping that his sincerity came across. Was this the result of him neglecting his duty towards you? "But the other Councillors...

I've heard that they would-" "I turned them all down." Replying blantly, there was no way he would be such an ingrate to do such a thing as to accept what the other Councillors thought be would temptations. "You... you did?" Your disbelief was tangible, making Viktor think how different you were from others that surrounded you... This is where the farce that he created began. The one where his only goal was to uncover a hidden treasure, a universal truth and a discovery he thought was too unlikely for a man such as himself. "It is the truth, Miss." Taking a few steps closer to you, thinking that somehow his proximity would serve as further reassurance and offer you the certainty that you sought. "I've invited you here because I would be happy to show you the progress of my current researches." "Oh!" What would have been tears became sparkling droplets reflecting your relief and delight. "You really want to show me what you're working on, Viktor?" Your voice shaking from hesitation, the way your eyes widened marked the surprise in your expression, followed by a soft smile that Viktor couldn't help by mentally describe as utterly sweet. "But of course, Miss. I would love to." Seeing such a range of emotion in you in only a few minutes was intrguing and... fascinating to him. Wasn't sweetness supposed to be something that you could only physically taste? Keeping you close for now would help him get a bit closer to the answer. Probably. –♥– Series Masterlist Taglist: @theweebrises <3 Feel free to leave any comments. I hope you are enjoying this mini-series so far <3

Ruminations of A Dreamer Part VI - (Viktor x F!Reader) Series Masterlist –♥–

"Miss, please! We can do that for you!" Viktor overhead the voice of the flustered maid as he neared the dining room of your estate. "It's alright, Kaia." You replied calmly, not a hint of dismay in your tone. "I wouldn't do this if I didn't want to. I just want everything to be perfect." Walking as quietly as he could, making sure each click of his cane against the marble floors was as silent as possible so he didn't alert you to his presence. It was 7:25 pm. He was 5 minutes early and he didn't want to intrude. Yet, seeing you bumbling to and fro from the kitchen to the dining room, dancing around the maids that chased after you and you, paying them no mind at all. Viktor couldn't help the low chuckle that escaped him, muffling it with his hand on his mouth so that his incognito status could remain so until it was time for him to reveal himself. You did not have to go through all this trouble, just for a Zaunite like him, let alone, a man like him. Yet, in your excited agitation, you seemed to be enjoying yourself and who was he to stop you from doing that? He would just have to repay you somehow. "Milady, you've already spent too much in the kitchen. Please allow us to help you." The maid called Kaia practically begged. "There's no need. I'm all done, anyways." Satisfaction ringing clearly in your voice. Viktor didn't have to see your face to guess the expression on your face. "He'll be here any minute now." And right on cue, Viktor took a few extra steps, finally making his appearance in the dining room, greeted by the sight of the candlelit dinner you had apparently prepared for the two of you. Rather than having the food spread out across the length of the long rectangular table, dishes of savoury deliciousness placed in front of a set of two plates placed opposite each other. "What a beautiful dinner you've prepared for us, Y/N." Viktor's words rolled off his tongue smoothly, his smile heard in his voice as he approached where you stood, at the other end of the table. "Good evening, Viktor." You greeted him in a welcoming tone, your hand reaching up to brush your hair behind your ear. "It's really nothing. Just a few dishes that I actually know how to cook." You giggled sheepishly, your hand resting on the side of your neck. "You're much better than me." He chuckled, the thumping of his cane louder as he walked faster to close the distance between you. "Although there is science in cooking, I am a failure at it and would live off raw fruits and vegetables if the Academy didn't have a cafeteria for all students and scholars." "And you also have me." You chimed before adding quickly. "Please have a seat here. I'll sit on the other side." You tapped your hand on the chair in front of you. "And now, I have you." He repeated your words, letting them sink in and trying to wrap his head around the thought of having you... as a friend, of course. The notion of a friend was not something he was well acquainted with, being an outcast for much of his life so, he would just have to learn what it meant. Through you.

Ruminations of A Dreamer Part V - (Victor x F!Reader) Squinting at the combinations of runes before him, Viktor's mind was racing at all the possibilities he has thought of, attempting to find those he has not figured out yet. Was everything as mechanical and methodical as he always thought them to be? In science, definitely. In magic, not entirely. Patterns always did exist, whether they may be logical, each step being traced with an ease of some kind and others, irrational, no thread of reason tying the different pieces together. The dichotomy exhibited by science and magic was like that of humans. It was easy to understand them but also not. They are predictable yet were capable of deviations, and those deviations were akin to mutations that were unseen and uncalled for. Such as the ones Viktor felt brewing within him... The emotions that he- "Viktor?" Your voice was gentle, right by his ear. If it weren't for the feeling of your form looming over him, he would've thought that it was a product of his imagination. His body jolting upwards, his back that had been slouched over his desk now straightening with the surprise of your presence. "I'm sorry!" You shot him a sheepish smile, your fingers carding through the soft strands of your hair, bringing his eyes to the rings adorning your slender fingers. "I didn't mean to startle you. I knocked several times and I called your name too but you couldn't hear me. It really wasn't my intention to bother you." "Nonsense. I am always delighted to have you here, Miss." Viktor shook his head, reaching for his cane and grunted as he pushed himself up. It would be disrespectful if he spoke to you while he was seated and you remained standing. "To what do I owe the honour, Miss? Please, have a seat." He ushered to the other chair in his lab, one that he asked one of your maids to provide him with, following your more frequent visits to him. He couldn't have you sitting on an uncomfortable stool. "Thank you, Viktor but I won't be here for long." You swallowed loudly, your hands dropping from your hair, down to your center of gravity, where they twiddled in inconsistent circles. Your eyes that were directed to the floor suddenly shot up and bore into him, a moment of realization hitting you. "Why won't you call me by my name, Viktor?" "It is not my place, Miss. I wouldn't want to over-" "I am asking you to call me by my name, Viktor. Are we not friends by now?" The way your question lingered wantingly in the air pulled on Viktor's heartstrings. When has he ever met anyone who wanted his companionship... his friendship? It was true. Over the course of the past few days, he had finally come to understand that the two of you have become friends. "Of course we are, M-..." He stopped before continuing the word, pursing his lips in a smile when he saw you raise your eyebrows at him. "You are my friend, Y/N." Your name pronounced with that unique accent of his. Ah, the way you beamed at him when he said your name. He couldn't count on his fingers how many times he'd seen you smile, being the cheerful person that you were, yet this time, it was different. You were radiant and so much brighter than you usually were. "Well then, my friend." Emphasizing on the word with a lilt, followed by a bubbly giggle, you bit your lower lip, your fingers reaching back up to twist around the ends of your tresses. "It would be my pleasure if you could join me for dinner, this evening." If you had spoken any softer, he wouldn't have been able to catch your words. Dinner with you? It was not what he had expected, not sure what he was even expecting yet, the thought of conversing with you in a place other than the confines of his lab pleased him so. "If you would like to have me there, then I'll be more than glad to do so, Y/N." "Great. Dinner will be at 7:30 pm. See you, Viktor~" The peppy lilt in your voice was a charming complement to the burst of excitement you exuded and failed to contain. Your expressions were too readable, your heart right on your sleeve, just adding more to

the allure of the person you were in his eyes. "I will see you at dinner, Y/N." Viktor hoped that he was able to convey how he truly was looking forward to spending time with you. When has anyone looked at him beyond the lonely child, boy, man who dedicated his life to nothing but inventions and science? Till you. –♥– Series Masterlist

Ruminations of a Dreamer Part II (Viktor x F!Reader) You never knew if it would be only a matter of hours or minutes till he finally woke up from his sleep.

Did you have to be there to supervise his work? Of course not. You had all the trust in the world in Viktor when everyone else had been so taken by the golden boy, the man of the hour, Jayce.

How this all suddenly came to be was simply a coincidence, but one that now bound you to the man that you’ve come to admire and ultimately, seek.

Your admiration stemmed from something much deeper than wonderment at the extent of his potential and his genius. It was more than that but you could never dare speak a word.

Who were you to him?

Simply the person who had the capital and the connections to invest in him and ensure that his independent research could still continue, despite his work with Councillor Talis.

It was in these moments, where Viktor succumbed fully to his unconsciousness, that you allowed yourself to allow a small window in your heart to open, letting your emotions bleed while they could until you had to force the window shut.

Gazing out the large window illuminating Viktor's lab, peering your eyes away from him only for a brief moment, you were figuratively seated right on the border, the line where the kind genius separated himself from the world. How did it suddenly dawn on you that you were simply the bridge that enabled to bring his projects to life?

Startling you out of your daze was the sound of a chuckling, the deep rumbling coming from where Viktor had been.

"I would love to join in your laughter." You expressed as softly as you could, knowing that he wouldn't expect you to be lingering in his lab while he was asleep.

What a strange thing for you to do...

"Ah! I did not know you were here, Miss." Now, it was his turn to be startled. Your attempt to be discreet was for naught. Placing his hands on his desk and pushing his chest off the flat wood, he rubbed his eyes hard, shaking his head with a light scoffing laughter. "It was just... an oddly pleasant dream. A very rare occurance, I might add."

“Tell me of your dream then, Viktor.” What was a plea in your mind came out in a slightly commanding tone. You were too weak agains the force of your curiosity to have any semblance of a connection to him, a wisp of what could be if you could ever be worthy to be regarded as anything but a means to an end. What was his notion of 'pleasant'?

“They are not nearly as interesting as you may think, Miss.” He cleared his throat, attempting to banish the thick layer of grogginess that added an unusual depth to his voice. “Dreams are simply fabrications and peculiar machinations born from the mind.”

“Your mind is what intrigues me, Viktor. I would like to know what a man such as yourself dreams of.” The meaning of your statement was more meaningful that your words expressed. However, this had to suffice for now.

“Very well, then.” He conceded, unable to hide the small smile curling on his thin lips. –♥– Part I

Ruminations of A Dreamer - (Viktor x Reader)

How many times has it been since you've walked into Viktor's lab, only to find him sleeping over a pile of research? Papers scattered all over, endless notes scribbled all over them and it was clear, he had been doing that until his last waking moment.

A pen laying between his fingers, the faint rise and fall of his back, a telltale of his sound sleep. Knowing him, he was probably dreaming about all the projects he had yet to complete, all the progress he wanted to bring to the world and show everyone what could truly be manifested through science. Walking as silently as you could, you just wanted to get as close as you could get to him. And just gaze at him from afar, from a distance. Like you've always done. He was so beautiful. Everything about him. Creamy milk chocolate strands fell over the pale skin of his face, his hair disheveled from what you could imagine where his long bony fingers raked through them, again and again, lost in the chaotic splendor that were his thoughts. Hidden behind his closed eyelids, those amber orbs of his bore traces of the loneliness that encumbered him for so long. Yet somehow, they radiated with such inspiring ambition. His quest for knowledge struck awe in your heart when all of Piltover believed in the future that would be truly constructed by him, yet held and flaunted the name of another. Your heart raged on his behalf, but he was content. Who were you to speak up for what was not yours? You shook as if that would rid you of the thoughts... the feelings bubbling within you. Inching a bit closer on his desk, more than you ever have before, your entire body froze. This time, you were closer. But still... far. This time, you let your hand hover right above his cheek, your fingers tingling to brush over his skin. Just a touch. Would a touch change anything? Or everything? How many times have you held back from reaching out to him? Was it out of fear? Fear of rejection? Fear that you might lose whatever it is that you shared... even though it was never enough? Was he really that far? Was it really so hard to step into his world? Maybe someday, you would try. But not today. Being near him was just enough. For now.
