And last but no least, Babita ( @mizpahes ) who I became friends with because of this story!

-This chapter is really long because I didn’t want to break it up in separate parts.

Enjoy!

One year later…

Fiona couldn’t believe how much had changed within the last year. When she had come home from Colorado last Christmas, her roommate and best friend was engaged to the love of her life. She couldn’t have been happier for Gemma and Chris.

Fiona had also gotten some good news over her holiday break. She had applied to a very prestigious art gallery in Colorado on a whim. She never imagined they’d ever call her back or even give her an interview, But they offered her the job right then and there. Of course she had said yes immediately, not even thinking about how she would be leaving everyone and everything she knew back in London.

Gemma had taken it surprisingly well. She had wanted Chris to move in anyway now that they were engaged. And within a week Fiona was all packed up and moving back to the States. She and Gemma shared a tearful goodbye. Fiona hadn’t realized how close they had gotten in the past few months. They both promised to stay in touch and visit each other. Fiona had never had a friend like Gemma before. She honestly thought she would never see her again after she moved away from London, but her and Chris visited Colorado multiple times the past year.

Gemma and Chris had planned a small wedding in the backyard of Gemma’s childhood home in Holmes Chapel. On their last visit, Gemma had asked Fiona to be her bridesmaid. They were both in tears when Fiona answered ‘yes’.

She knew it was selfish, but Fiona was worried about seeing Harry at the wedding. He would obviously be there; he was in the wedding after all. She didn’t know what she would say to him. She hadn’t even talked or seen him since their last chat that fateful morning so many months ago.

It had been a year since the day she was packing her things for Colorado when she had stumbled over a shirt of his that she had taken from his room during one of their rendezvous. It still smelled like him and she felt her eyes prickle at the memories the two of them shared. She dialed his number on her phone, even letting it ring a few times before hanging up and turning her phone off. He had to have known she was leaving, Gemma must’ve told him. If he had anything to say to her, he would’ve done it.

What Fiona didn’t know was that Harry had seen her call and immediately dialed her number right back, but he only got her voicemail. He tried calling a dozen more times before finally giving up. She must’ve dialed his number by mistake, he thought.

Harry had gone to Gemma’s the day after Fiona left to help move some of Chris’s things into her room. It felt weird being in there after all the time that had gone by. When he first walked in, he swore she would walk around the corner and tell him this was all a big prank and she would never leave him.

But she didn’t.

All that was left in her room was the desk that he helped her build when she had first moved in. Gemma had briefly mentioned that Fiona didn’t think it would survive the move overseas and she would just buy another back in Colorado. So Harry had offered to take it.

When he and Niall finally got it back to their apartment, Harry began putting his own items in the drawers when he found his old Pink Floyd shirt that he had lost awhile back. It was folded neatly and placed gently inside. He felt his heart drop at the sight of it. He had his suspicions that Fiona had taken it, and he was perfectly content with her keeping it, but apparently she didn’t want anything to do with him anymore. First the desk and now the shirt. The next day Harry donated the desk to Goodwill; he couldn’t stand having it in his room any longer.

Both Harry and Fiona had moved on respectively. Both going on dates and having casual relationships here and there; both not really having said relationships go anywhere.

Fiona had thought about Harry the whole way from the airport to Holmes Chapel. She would be cordial and polite to him; she never had a doubt about that. She wondered if he had gotten any new tattoos. She wondered if he ever thought about her as much as she thought about him. She wondered if he was going to say anything to her about their past. She doubted it. This was Gemma’s wedding and bringing up their past would be immature. By the time she knew it, she was pulling up to the Style’s childhood home. There were many cars in the driveway and on the street, all relatives and friends coming from all over for the big wedding day. Fiona stepped out of the cab, the driver helping her remove her items from the trunk. She thanked the driver, tipping him generously.

She stretched while looking at the house. Her muscles were sore from the plane and the car ride. All she wanted to do was take a shower and nap, but the rehearsal dinner was tonight so she knew she wouldn’t be able to relax. She grabbed her suitcase and walked up the drive to the door. She rang the doorbell but nobody seemed to hear. She could hear people talking and laughing on the other side of the door, so she decided to let herself in.

There were people everywhere; kids and adults laughing and chatting. Fiona awkwardly stood by the front door with her luggage, looking around for any kind of familiar face.

“FIIIIIIOOOOONNNNNAAAAAAA” A certain Irish voice boomed throughout the hallway as Niall made his was over to her, lifting her up and hugging her. Fiona had missed Niall, they had really gotten to be good friends and she never got the chance to say goodbye to him when she moved.

She hugged him tightly back as he placed her on the ground.

“Whoa, look ‘atcha! Still as beautiful as ever. I missed my lil Fi!” He held her waist and looked her over.

“I missed you too! I saw you have yourself a special someone as well, when can I meet her?” Fiona had been keeping up with Niall through Facebook and Instagram. He had been in a pretty serious relationship for the last few months.

“She couldn’t make it today, but she’ll be here tomorrow for the wedding! You’ll love her. Her name is Siobhan and she’s absolutely amazing. I’ve never felt this was about anyone before.” Niall blushed as he talked about his new girl.

Fiona thought he was absolutely adorable the way he gushed about Siobhan.

“I’m so happy for you, Ni.” Fiona pulled him in for another hug.

“Everyone’s in the kitchen, we’ve been awaiting your arrival all mornin’” Niall took Fiona’s suitcase and hand as he led her through the kitchen; maneuvering through the crowd of people. She’d be lying if she said she wasn’t looking around for Harry.

The kitchen table was crowded with food and drinks. Gemma was standing next to Chris chatting up some relative.

“The bridesmaid is ‘ere!” Niall announced to the entire room. Gemma excused herself and practically jumped into Fiona’s arms. They had seen each other less than two months ago, when Gemma had visited for the weekend to go over some wedding details. But Fiona still missed her dearly.

“Babe! I’m so glad you made it! How was the plane ride? Are you hungry? Let me introduce you to everyone.” Gemma never gave Fiona the chance to respond to her questions as she yelled for everyone’s attention.

“Everyone! This is Fiona, she is one of my bridesmaids and flew in all the way from Colorado so make her feel at home!” The entire room replied, “Hi Fiona.” Fiona just waved at everyone uncomfortably.

“Fiona!” Anne came out of nowhere and engulfed her in a big hug.

“Oh sweetheart, you look so beautiful, did you cut your hair?”

While Fiona was being introduced to friends and family, Harry watched from afar.

Fiona had instantly grabbed everyone’s attention when she walked into the room. She was wearing jeans and baggy t shirt but was still so enchanting. Her hair was shorter than he remembered. It was now lying just above her shoulders. He could tell she was tired. The bags under her eyes were big and he knew she would be jet lagged after her flight. He wanted to make his way over and say hello but he wasn’t sure how to approach her. Should he hug her? Would that be appropriate? What if he didn’t hug her, would that come off as rude? Before he could answer his own question and could see his mum gesturing him to come over. He took one more sip of his drink before setting it down on the kitchen counter and made his was over in just a few steps.

She may have looked confident to everyone else, but Harry knew her well enough to know that Fiona was nervous.

“Hey,” He greeted her quietly, deciding in that moment to pull her in for a hug. She was stiff in his arms, wrapping her own arms around his neck, more out of courtesy than anything.

“Hey,” She breathed out against his ear.

“Harry, why don’t you show Fiona her room and take her things up there?” Anne suggested as they slowly pulled away from each other. Harry knew his mother was going to be like this all weekend. She had been campaigning for him and Fiona to get back together this whole time. He knew she would have some tricks up her sleeve but he didn’t know it would start right away.

“Uh, yeah, of course. Follow me.” Harry took Fiona’s suitcase and led her down the hall. He quickly made eye contact with Niall who gave him a reassuring nod.

Fiona and Harry made their way up the stairs that Harry had climbed a million times before. He felt very self-conscious due to the fact the Fiona would be seeing all his childhood pictures and memories. The stair case was lined with his and Gemma’s old school photos and he peeked over his shoulder to see Fiona smiling slightly at them. He turned away quickly before she could catch him. Most of their relatives and friends were staying in hotels in the area, but since Fiona was coming from so far away, Gemma insisted she stay in the guest room. Fiona didn’t argue, the plane tickets were expensive and she was willing to save money in any way.

“The bathrooms right here, Gem’s in there, mums in there, I’m in here, and you’re right there.” Harry pointed out all the rooms as they walked down the hall. He opened the door to the last bedroom and placed her suitcase on the freshly made bed. Fiona walked behind him quietly. She was fiddling with her fingers as he turned around and clapped his hands together loudly.

“Alright, like I said I’m next door and Gem’s just down the hall so feel free to ask us if you need anything. Niall’s crashing on the couch downstairs…” He didn’t want to leave quite yet so he was raking his brain for anything to say so he could keep talking to her. “There’s towels in the bathroom for like showers and stuff um…”

His mind suddenly became blank and he couldn’t remember anything about his house anymore. He looked around the room searching for something to say before finally landing his eyes back on Fiona. She had her arms around her chest rubbing her fingers lightly over her forearms. He could see a slight line of black ink coming from one of her forearms.

“S’that new?” Harry gestured his head towards her arm.

“Oh yeah, just a few months old.” She looked down at the design lovingly as she rubbed her fingers over it.

“May I?” With those two words so many memories flashed back for the both of them. Harry and Fiona made eye contact for a long time before she held her arm out to him. He rubbed his thumb over the mountain design. His other hand found hers and held it. She didn’t seem to mind, not making any gesture to move it away.

“Reminds me of home.” She said flatly. Harry looked up into her eyes to see tears swelling in them.

“’M sorry,” He quickly let his hands drop to his sides. He scratched the back of his neck moving out of the room before quickly adding, “It’s good seeing you again.” He shut the door behind him.

Fiona was feeling so many emotions. After all this time he still touched her so gently and lovingly. She knew this weekend would rile up old feelings but she hadn’t even been here an hour yet. She took a deep breath, opening her suitcase and removing her rehearsal dress, hanging it up on the back of the door to prevent wrinkles. She grabbed some of her toiletries and made her way to the bathroom to shower.

By the time she had gotten out of the shower many of the guests had retreated back to their homes and hotel rooms to get ready for the rehearsal dinner. She walked back to the guest room with a towel wrapped around her. She had to walk past Harry’s room to get to her own. His door was open and she caught a glimpse of him in his mirror buttoning up a white dress shirt. Their eyes met briefly in the mirror but she urged her feet to keep going. Closing her bedroom door behind her, she dropped her towel, readying herself for the rehearsal.

The Rehearsal Dinner

Fiona was seated with all the other bridesmaids and groomsmen in the backyard of the Styles’ household. She felt out of place throughout the entire dinner. She hadn’t gone to Gemma’s bachelorette party due to a previous work engagement and still hadn’t had the time to get to know the other girls yet. Gemma and Chris’s family sat with the bride and groom at a long table at the farthest part of the backyard.

Fiona hadn’t meant to, but she kept peeking over at Harry. He was quiet throughout dinner; only occasionally making small talk with Anne who sat beside him.

He could feel Fiona’s eyes on him, but couldn’t man up to look over; only occasionally making eye contact with Niall who sat with Harry’s aunts and uncles. Every time Harry looked at Niall, Niall looked at Fiona and Fiona looked at Harry. They kept this up the entire meal.

Fiona was thankful when the speeches started because she no longer had to keep up the small talk with the strangers around her.

Anne and Des gave a heartwarming speech, as well as Chris’s mom and dad. Harry was supposed to go but decided to save his speech for the wedding. Once all the toasts were given, the DJ began playing music while family and friends filled the dance floor.

Fiona was left alone at her table sipping her wine when Niall walked up to her.

“Care for a dance, m’lady?” He bowed with his hand out.

Fiona snickered as Niall took her hand leading her to the dance floor. They danced together for a few songs, Niall constantly making her laugh with his dance moves. He told her more about Siobhan and what had happened in his life over the past year. He couldn’t help but blush and smile when he talked about her; it made Fiona’s heart flutter.

The beginning chords of “Landslide” started playing over the loud speaker. Just as Fiona was about to wrap her arms around Niall’s shoulders, a little girl, no more than 7 years old, approached them.

“Niall, will you dance with me?” the little girl squeaked.

Fiona smiled stepping aside and letting the girl take her place.

“It would be an honor.” Niall said dramatically as the girl stood on top of his feet. He was mocking being in pain as the girl laughed away.

Fiona sauntered back over to her table slowly. She couldn’t believe how much Niall had matured since she last saw him. He was making far less fart jokes ad was even considering settling down with someone.

When she reached her table, she grabbed her wine glass downing the rest of her drink.

“Tha’s my cousins’ kid. She has the biggest crush on Niall, swears she’s going to marry him one day.”

She heard the familiar deep voice behind her. She turned to see Harry, still towering over her as always.

“From what I hear she might have some serious competition,” Fiona responds.

“Yeah Siobhan…” Harry looks over his shoulder at Niall before turning back to her.

“She’s basically moved in with us. ‘M waiting for him to formally kick me out.”

“I’m happy for him.” Fiona whispers staring down at her feet.

The song ends leading into a pop song from the late 90’s to which Fiona hears Gemma scream out for. Harry and her meet eyes and laugh. Fiona begins to feel suddenly overwhelmed. Harry’s presence plus the noise was starting to make her anxious.

“I’ll uh I’ll be right back…” Harry can barely hear her as she walks further away from the party.

He’s not sure if he should follow her. Or maybe she just didn’t want to talk to him anymore. He looks over to where Niall once stood but can’t find him anywhere. He feels a hand on his shoulder.

“Don’t let her leave again.” It was Anne’s tiny figure staring up at him. He looked at her for a few seconds before nodding and following the exact trail Fiona had just taken.

Fiona shivered into the cool air. The backyard was already decorated for the wedding tomorrow. Fairy lights and flowers guided the path to the gazebo where Gemma and Chris were to be married the very next day.

She walked up the three steps to the gazebo and sat on a little bench in the corner, wrapping her arms around herself to shield her from the cold.

She thought she was over Harry, but seeing him today opened the flood of feelings she was keeping at bay. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath through her nose and out through her mouth.

“Are you okay?” She jumped at the sound of his voice, not hearing walk up to her.

“Uh, yeah…just a bit overwhelmed, that’s all.” She forced a smile up to him.

“Yeah…” Harry saw her shiver once more, taking off his suit jacket and placing it over her shoulders.

“Thanks.” Fiona responded while cuddling further into his red and white plaid jacket. Only he could pull this look off, she thought.

He raised his eyebrows, motioning towards his finger towards the spot next to her, asking her for permission to sit down.

“Oh yeah, of course.” She scooted down the tiny bench to give him some room. They sat quietly for a few moments. It wasn’t awkward for either of them. Their legs were slightly pressed against each other, as was their arms. It reminded them both of the times when they would lay silently next to each other in bed after being so intimate. Even then, they never felt they had to force a conversation, they just held each other silently. Fiona felt her heart drop at the memory. She looked over at Harry who rested his elbows on his thighs, leaning over in deep thought.

“Harry…” she whispered his name so quietly it could have been another gust of wind.

But he heard her.

He straightened up suddenly, giving her his full attention.

“I’m-“ Fiona paused for what seemed like minutes but was only a few seconds. Harry could see tears brewing in her eyes.

“I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry for the way things went between us. I was being selfish about my own feelings, not ever once considering yours. And-“Her voice shook as tears started to fall from her eyes. She swiped at them quickly with her hand.

“No, please don’t cry. It’s okay.” Harry enveloped her tiny body into his arms, soothingly rubbing her hair.

“Please don’t take all the blame, I was wrong too. I shouldn’t have left the way I did, it was childish.” He could feel another sob rake through her body.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” She kept repeating as she wept into his chest.

Harry could feel his own tears slipping now. Why was she taking all the blame? They were both in the wrong. He was so angry that day in her bedroom, storming off leaving her in tears. He had stayed mad for weeks, not even coming to say goodbye when she left for Colorado. A week after she left, his anger finally subsided. He hated himself for not saying goodbye, even hated her for leaving.

The past year had been filled with “what if?”

What if he stayed that morning and they had talked things out?

What if he had said goodbye to her before she left for another country.

What if he told her he loved her?

Would she have stayed? Could he have lived with himself knowing she gave up her dream job for him? Would she have cared? Or would she have left anyway?

Gemma had given Harry Fiona’s flight details “just in case”.

Fiona’s plane left at 10:20 am.

He knew he loved her when the clock hit 10:21 am.

By 10:22, he knew it was really over.

But here she was in his arms again. Harry was more excited than Gemma when Fiona had accepted the offer to be her bridesmaid. He swore it was fate giving them one more shot.

He grabbed Fiona’s face with both hands lifting her up to look at him. She was quiet as her tears continued to fall. He kissed a falling tear off her right cheek. Then another.

Before finally placing a kiss on her lips.

They were still as soft as she remembered. He knew this was his last shot wither her, so he pit all of his love into this kiss.

She kissed him back with as much ferocity. They finally pulled away when they both needed a minute to breath. They stared into each other’s eyes as they caught their breaths.

“I love you, Fi. I always knew but never admitted it to myself until it was too late. Please…I love you.”

She pulled him in for another kiss, this one only lasting a few seconds.

“I go back home in two days…” Fiona’s eyes started to water again.

“We’ll think about it when the time comes.” Harry leaned in for another kiss only for Fiona to put her hands on his chest pushing him away.

“Harry…”She started to stand up. Harry’s heart raced as he stood up blocking her path.

“Please…please don’t do this again. Please don’t leave me again.” He was begging her to stay. To at least give him one more chance.

“I live in another country, we have to be rational. It would never work.” She took another step and so did he.

“Bu-“

“Harry, stop.”

“Just give me these two days. Please.”

Fiona started at him, weighing out the options in her head. Being with him now would only make it harder to leave when the time came. But he was worth the heartbreak that would surely follow.

“Okay.” She whispered.

“Okay?” He had to ask because he wasn’t sure if his ears were playing tricks on him.

“Yes.” She responded smiling.

He leaned in for a kiss, this time she leaned right in to him. His arms roamed her back, settling on her butt while her hands wrapped through his hair.

They were both brought back into reality by loud laughter coming from the party.

Harry leaned his forehead on hers.

“Wanna get out of here?” He cursed himself for sounding so stupid but was relieved when Fiona bit her lip while nodding her head.

Harry led her down the steps of the gazebo, through a path that lead to a door near the kitchen so they wouldn’t have to walk through the party.

No one was inside the house, everyone still dancing and drinking outside.

He led Fiona through his house up the steps to his room.

He looked at her one more time before opening the door. The house was dark but the lights illuminated her face slightly. This was his second chance and he knew he couldn’t ruin it. He was going to show her all the love he had for her.

He opened the door, shutting it once Fiona had walked in.

He turned to see her standing there. It was weird seeing her surrounded with his childhood things, but it made his heart beat faster at the thought of how much he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.

He approached her slowly, cupping her face between his hands and leaning in to place the lightest kiss on her lips.

It was a slow kiss, but he wanted this whole night to be slow. He never wanted his time with her to end.

He slipped his tongue into her mouth, rolling around with hers. He moved his jacket off her shoulders, letting it fall to the floor. She placed her hands on his chest before gradually undoing his shirt buttons.

He walked her back onto the bed, gently leaning over so they could both be lying down. She removed his shirt, discarding it with his jacket. Harry stepped back up to kick off his shoes and undo his pants, never once taking his eyes off of hers as he slid them down his legs.

He leaned over her body, lifting up the hem of her maxi dress until he had it off her body completely.

He kneeled down in front of her as he rubbed his hands up and down her legs, finally stopping to take off her shoes. Once they were off, he kissed his way up from her ankles to the tops of her thighs where he stopped at her rose tattoo.

He placed the lightest kiss a top it, to which she let out a sigh. He was so close to where she wanted him to be. He moved over to her panties before placing a kiss on the hem of them. He didn’t want to waste his time with foreplay.

He made his way up her body, kissing and sucking randomly.

He kissed right through the valley between her breasts, stopping to peck each nipple all while loving how she wasn’t wearing a bra.

He sucked the spot on her neck that he knew she loved which earned a moan from her.

She was breathing hard when he finally reached her lips again.

She slipped her tongue into his mouth as she slid her hand in between them to cup him over his boxers.

“Don’t.” Harry whispered against her mouth. He was so wound up the slightest touch from her would have truly done him in for. He grabbed her wrist placing it behind his neck which was soon joined by her other hand. He reached down to pull her panties down her leg, and then slid his own boxers down. He was about to slide into her before he stopped.

“Shit, I didn’t bring anything.” He was starting to panic. The last thing he thought he would be doing this weekend was having sex.

“It’s fine, it’s fine; I’m on birth control.” Fiona panted.

“Are you sure? I can check Gem’s room. I’m sure Niall has some-“ He was cut off by her pressing her lips to his. He instantly relaxed into her.

He pulled away looking at her again before she nodded to him.

He took his shaft into his hands, slowly entering her.

They both moaned simultaneously. They had never had sex with each other without a condom before but the new feeling already had Fiona’s toes curling.

“Harry…” She breathed out as he moved in further. He had to stop himself halfway because he was afraid that any other movement would have him cumming right away.

“Give me a…” His thoughts trailed off but Fiona knew what he meant. She kissed him again in order to distract him.

Once he was ready, he pushed himself in completely. She groaned loudly at the sensation.

Harry swears he had never felt so good in his life. He fit perfectly in her, as if they were made for each other. He moved slowly, putting all his love into each thrust.

“I love you…” He said as he hid his face in her neck.

She scratched at his back as he hit her most sensitive spot.

“Harry,” She continued moaning his name as he concentrated on every move he was making. He felt her around him completely and was focusing so hard on trying not to cum. He wanted them to finish together.

“Go…” She sighed out. “Not. Yet.” He said with each thrust.

“Harry, I’m coming.”

“I’m ready for you, babe. Let go.”

She tightened around him as she came, practically yelling out his name. He rode her through it before finally letting himself go. He would later swear he had never cum so hard in his life. His arms started to shake as he held his body weight on top of her. They were both panting, trying to catch their breaths.

When he finally slipped out, she cupped herself from the loss.

Harry lay on his side next to her. Her breathing was slowing as she stared up at his ceiling.

He leaned over giving her a kiss on her forehead.

“I’ll be right back.” He stated as he stood up.

She shook her head still staring up at the ceiling.

He grabbed his briefs putting them on quickly while he watched her compose herself. She had looked so thoroughly fucked and he loved it.

She was so beautiful and he was completely in love with her. A thought crept up in the back of his mind, “She’s still going to leave.”

He shook his head to himself as he reached for his door and walked out into the bathroom, grabbing a towel to clean them up.

When he walked back out into the hallway heard someone clear their throat.

“Hey.” It was Chris.

“Hey.” Harry responded.

“The boys are heading out now. You staying?” Harry was supposed to go with Chris and the other groomsmen to a hotel for the night.

“Yea, I’m staying.” Harry was glad it was dark in the hallway or Chris would definitely be able to see the wet spot on the front of his briefs.

Chris nodded slightly before heading down the stairs.

Harry let out a breath as he opened the door to his room again, shutting it behind him.

And then locking it, just in case.

Fiona was still lying on her side; she turned her head to look at him.

He gave her a small smile while pulling his boxers down, stepping out of them and into the bed.

He took the towel between her legs to clean her up. She was still so sensitive she even twitched a little.

After cleaning himself up also, he threw the towel on the floor finally crawling into bed with her. She instantly cuddled into him.

“Harry?”

“Yeah?”

She leaned up so she could see his face.

“I love you too.”

He reached up to kiss her for the hundredth time that night. They both pulled away as they cuddled, wrapping their legs around each other.

They both fell asleep that night feeling something they hadn’t in a long time.

Hope.

Fiona woke up the next morning to yelling and chaos throughout the house. Gemma and the bridesmaids had stayed over last night. Fiona held the blanket above her head, trying to get a few more moments of sleep before the chaos caught up to her.

She turned around to see Harry was also awake. He kissed her forehead, pulling her closer to him.

“Maybe if we stay here long enough they won’t even know we’re missing.” Harry whispered even though he knew no one could hear him over the chatter coming from the other side of the door. Fiona laughed at the thought. She wished she could stay here. She felt a pang in her heart as she remembered she was leaving tomorrow morning. As if Harry could read her thoughts he lifted up her chin so she would look at him.

“Hey…none of that today.” He whispered before placing a peck on her lips. They both jumped at the pounding at the door.

“H, let me in.” It was Niall.

“Just a second.” Harry said but made to movement to get up whatsoever. Fiona nudged him with her foot.

“He’ll break the door down if you don’t answer.” Harry groaned as he stood up is all his glory. Fiona gave him a playful smack on his butt as he walked away. Harry let out a downright pornographic moan. Fiona burst out in laughter at his excessiveness.

“Do you want me to come back?” They heard Niall question from the other side of the door.

Fiona and Harry made eye contact before bursting into laughter. Harry slipped on a pair of sweats before throwing his dress shirt towards her. It engulfed her body as she buttoned it up. Once she was covered he walked over to the door unlocking it and letting Niall in.

“Why didn’t you go last night? Chris said ya weren’t feelin’ well. You’re mums down-“ Niall finally noticed Fiona on Harry’s bed and burst out into a wide smile.

“You dirty boy.” He smacked Harry on the arm. Fiona laughed as Harry sat down on the bed next to her.

“Yeah, yeah, what do you want?” Harry was leaning on his elbows letting his legs lay off the edge.

“Well ya mum let ya sleep in because she thought you was sick, but it’s almost 10 am so you have to shower and eat. I need to pick up Siobhan in an hour from the airport and ya mum needs help with some last minute arrangements outside. And you!” Niall pointed his finger at Fiona, “Gemma’s been looking for you mad all mornings. She says you have hair and makeup in thirty minutes so you better hurry your ass up in the shower as well.”

Harry and Fiona look over at each other with a knowing smile on their lips.

“In your own mother’s house? Really?” Niall rolled his eyes as he walked out of the room.

Being that there was only one shower unoccupied, Harry and Fiona rushed down the hall to claim it but their dreams were squashed when Gemma saw her.

“Fi, the downstairs shower is open. And hurry up! We have to be ready for pictures in two hours!” Gemma didn’t even flinch at the sight of Harry and Fiona’s hands wrapped around each other’s or the fact that Fiona was still wearing his dress shirt from last night. Fiona looked back at Harry with a disappointed look on her face.

“C’mon!” Gemma called after her again. She reluctantly followed Gemma down the stairs and into another shower. Harry looked defeated as he entered the shower alone.

.

Once all the bridesmaids were ready, Fiona couldn’t have another thought before she was being ushered off into photos. She hadn’t seen Harry since this morning even though she was looking for him constantly. Gemma had allowed her bridesmaids to wear whatever they please, same with Chris and his groomsmen. When Gemma first saw Harry, she was pissed; yelling at him for wearing white on her wedding day.

“What? No, it’s cream!” Harry fought back. They had argued until Anne had to be called in to break them up. Harry had one the battle but only because he didn’t have another suit and there was no time to get another one.

Fiona had worn a light blue maxi dress with white roses. She wore her hair natural with only a little bit of makeup on. That bothered Harry because that meant she definitely would have had time to shower with him this morning.

Fiona was holding a bouquet of flowers as she stepped aside for pictures. When she made eye contact with Harry she had blushed profusely, hiding her face in the bouquet. She had never been shy around him before but after their confessions last night she felt a little intimidated. He strolled over to her quickly before placing a kiss on her lips. She was shocked how he wasn’t bothered kissing her in front of his entire family.

“You look beautiful.” He stated low enough for only her to hear.

“And you look…wow.” He really did look amazing in his suit. He had a light blue shirt underneath that just so happened to match Fiona’s perfectly.

“Harry!” Gemma was calling him over for a picture.

“I’ll be right back.” He whispered in her ear before placing another kiss on her cheek.

“Fiona!” She twirled around at the sound of her name. Niall was walking up with a beautiful girl who she could only assume was Siobhan.

“Fiona, this is Siobhan. Siobhan, Fiona.” Niall introduced the too.

“Hi! I’ve heard so much abou’ you!” Siobhan pulled her in for a hug.

“And I’ve heard a lot about you. You have Niall completely smitten here.” Fiona nudged Niall with her elbow playfully as his face went pink.

“Aw, well he’s not the only one.” Siobhan placed a kiss on Niall’s lips. Fiona suddenly felt out of place as the two continued to kiss.

“Fi!” Gemma was running over in her wedding dress.

“C’mon my mum wants a picture with all of us.”

Fiona walked up to where Anne, Harry, Gemma, and Chris stood taking her place next to Harry who instantly put his arm around her waist.

“Alright, 1,2,3!” The photographer called out as he snapped multiple pictures.

“How about just one of you two?” Anne asked already pulling Gemma and Chris away.

“Sure.” Harry was embarrassed by how up front his mother was being but was also thankful he would have a professional photo with Fiona; it would be something he would cherish forever.

“Okay, 1 ,2,3!” Harry looked down at her just as the picture was being taken. She was absolutely breathtaking in this moment. The setting sun highlighted her features perfectly while her hair blew lightly in the wind. Even thought they were covered, he could point out each one of her freckles. She was perfect. And she was his.

Or at least she was his for right now.

“Oh that was just perfect!” Anne exclaimed as she clapped her hands together.

.

The ceremony had gone flawlessly. The vows had made everyone shed a tear. Fiona and Harry kept making eye contact throughout the whole thing. He couldn’t help but stare at her and all her beauty.

She had to look away multiple times because of how hard she was smiling.

By the time dinner came around, Gemma was married and Niall was already drinking. Fiona had talked to Siobhan some more and realized she was a match made in Heaven for Niall. She loud, Irish, and could easily drink him under the table.

They had all laughed throughout dinner, Harry holding her hand through every bite. He only let go to clank on his champagne glass with his knife, getting everybody’s attention.

“Excuse me…” Harry waited. “Speech!” Niall screamed effectively getting everybody’s attention.

“I just wanted to say a few words, if ya don’t mind. First off I want to say congratulations to my wonderful sister Gemma. And a good luck to my new brother in law, Chris.” His joke was met with much laughter.

“Gem, I feel like I’ve known you my entire life…” As Harry trailed on with his speech and a few more horrible jokes, Fiona just watched him. She looked at him as if he was the only person in the room. The lights that lit up the backyard lighted up his eyes wonderfully. She watched as every word slipped off his tongue. That amazing tongue that she had gotten so acquainted with last year. His lips moved so slow as he talked, she just wanted to grab his face and kiss him forever. She truly loved him. And he truly loved her. But with every minute passing, Fiona could feel them drifting apart. Harry would never admit it, but he felt it too. They both knew their love was on borrowed time.

“…and as I finish this speech off I would like to finish off with a quote:

‘Doubt thou the stars are fire; Doubt that the sun doth move; Doubt truth to be a liar; But never doubt I love.’”

Harry looked Fiona in the eye during the entire quote. She had to look away in order to stop that tears that were threatening to fall. Harry’s speech was met with applause as everyone took a drink.

Once the conversations continued and Harry was seated again he leaned over to whisper in Fiona’s ear, “Are you okay?”

She shook her head yes but the tears in her eyes told another story. She had to cover her mouth as she stood up from her seat almost running into a waiter.

“Fi!” She heard Harry call behind her as she let a sob out. She ran into the house, up the stairs and into Harry’s room. She knew he would be right behind her so she didn’t bother closing the door.

“Fi, please don’t do this.” Harry kneeled in front of her as she sat on the bed.

“I’m sorry…It’s just too much.” She choked out.

“What is? What’s too much?” He asked her as he wiped away the tears from her cheeks.

This, Harry. Us. It’ll never work and I’m sorry because I love you so much.”

“I love you, too. And we can make this work I promise. I’ll visit you every chance I get or you could come here-“

“And how long will we keep that up? Forever? Harry, I can’t do that. It wouldn’t be fair to me or you.”

Harry knew she was right. He knew they wouldn’t be able to keep a long distance relationship up forever.

“It just wasn’t meant to be…” Fiona whispered. Harry looked up at her through tear filled eyes of his own before pulling her in for a kiss. He crushed his lips against hers as his own tears fell.

He couldn’t ask her to stay; it wouldn’t be fair to him. And she couldn’t ask him to move, as it wouldn’t be fair for him either. They both knew that as much as fate had worked in their favor in the past, their luck had run out. This was going to be the last time they saw each other for a long time and they were going to savor every moment.

Harry leaned her back onto his bed before removing his suit jacket. She began lifting her dress up but he stopped her.

“Let me.” He asserted he lifted her dress slowly off of her, the same as he had down the night before. Once it was finally off, he gave her another kiss while he kneaded her breasts. He would miss the way they felt under his hand. He would miss even more the way her piercings felt when he sucked on them. Fiona placed her hands between them unbuttoning his shirt. She rubbed his chest up and down as they continued to kiss, tongues rolling around each other.

She slid his shirt down his arms before tossing it over the bed. Their chests pushed up against each other as she wrapped her legs around his torso.

Harry took the initiative to undo his belt while Fiona pulled his pants and boxers down together. He stood up only to get them and his shoes off, taking hers off as well.

She slipped off her panties as he lay on top of her again. Their hands roamed each other’s bodies in the dark as they cherished every moment.

“’Sokay?” Harry asked her.

“Yeah.” She breathed out as he slipped into her bare again for the second night in a row. The both rocked together as they stared into each other’s eyes. He would miss the way she fit perfectly around him.  She would miss the way he knew all the right spots to hit. But most of all, they would miss each other.

Fiona had never felt so loved before. He was being so gentle with her and appreciating every inch of her body. Her eyes teared up as he slid in and out of her. He kissed away a falling tear from her cheek.

“I love you, Fiona.” He said as he hid his face in her neck.

“I love you too, Harry.” Her voice squeaked as she reached close to her high.

Harry only had to let out a few more thrusts before kissing her before they were coming undone together.

He didn’t pull out until he had gone completely soft.

Fiona sighed as she felt him leave her. They instantly cuddled each other as they drifted off into sleep.

Harry hadn’t realized how tired he had been until he woke up the next morning. He panicked when he realized he was alone in his bed. He quickly got up, slipping on a pair of pants as he went to find Fiona. He didn’t know what time it was but he was sure she wouldn’t have left without saying good bye.

He went into the guest bedroom next to his, only to find her stuff missing. His heart beat fast as he ran down the stairs quicker than he ever did on Christmas.

The house was quieter than ever. Gemma and Chris has left last night for their honeymoon and Niall had stayed the night at a hotel with Siobhan.

His mother was sitting in the kitchen drinking her tea when he walked in.

He searched her face for any explanation but she only responded with, “She left you this.”

His mother held out a piece of paper for him, which he snatched out of her hands opening it quickly.

It only contained two sentences but it would change his life forever.

A/N: And that was all she wrote.

Thank you so much for taking time time to read and enjoy my story. I have been wanting to write for a long time but never actually got the courage too until May of 2017 when I started this blog.

I hope you don’t hate me too much for how it ended but my plan from the start was to not have them end up together. The title of this story was taken from ‘Romeo and Juliet’ so it should have given you a little hint that their love was doomed from the start. I’ll miss writing this story and Fiona but I have so many ideas for new fics.

Thank you again.
