“you’re late.”

the words come out flat, and atsumu’s heart quickens, dull in his ears as he tries to smooth down his suit. his breath catches at the sight, the table set the same way as the day he first took you to dinner.

yet the table is cleaved in two, and from his vantage, he sees how far away you had become. atsumu chastises himself, knowing full well who was to blame.

his footsteps are heavy on the marble floor, your face obscured by the elaborate centerpiece.

for the first time, in a long time, he meets your eyes.

he expected something else. he expected all the variants of hate, of raw fury coursing through your veins at the mere sight of the man you once loved.

love — in this case. for you had turned to him with the same longing eyes as you  did that very night, so many years before. a stone lodged itself in his throat, regret and shame solidified.

a small part of him tried to force him to his knees, to kiss your feet and beg  for forgiveness. to come clean of his sins and ask for pardon, offering all that he is for salvation.

and atsumu knew you were a kind deity, a heart too soft and forgiving for someone like him.

yet he could not bring himself to hurt you more than he already did.

instead the fool chose a kinder lie, willing his lips to curve into a smile.

“sorry, got caught in traffic.”

he took a seat, eyes fixed onto the plate of cold food, no doubt made by your own hands. it was delectable, done the exact way that he had preferred. that fact made eating harder.

had it not been for the open balcony and the night life below, the air would have been filled with silence. he dared not look up, afraid of what might happen to his resolve if he meets your gaze.

lifting the glass to your lips, you downed the rest of your drink, hoping the fire down your throat provided enough liquid courage.

“we should break up.”

relief and dread flooded atsumu’s veins, silverware clattering onto porcelain.

he wished that you said it with ire, with hatred and passion. he wished you had broken the bottle and screamed, wished that you had hit him square across the face. he knew he deserved all that and worse

instead you smiled, the same kind and loving eyes gazing into him.

“there’s nothing left, ‘tsumu.” laughter curled att he end, as though meant to soften the blow. but it was hollow and weak, barbed with bitter disappointment and acrid resignation.

“nothing left,” you whispered, more to yourself than to him.

tears kept you rooted to your seats, years of history washing over the two of you at the realization of the end. atsumu’s heart quickened as it spiraled, desperately wanting to grapple at the strings.

whatever regret he had had been too little, and too late, for you stood, chair scraping behind you.

each step you took farther from him tore him from the inside, his mind conjuring a museum of your laughter, shaping relics of your smile and masterpieces of your touch.

and as the door clicked shut, atsumu lay there, stripped naked of armor, in a mess of his own creation.

“(y/n)’s unhappy with him.”

iwaizumi scowls at oikawa’s words, looking away from you and your boyfriend and choosing to stare at the pretty setter instead. oikawa waits a few seconds, rolling his eyes when iwaizumi doesn’t reply.

“honestly, everyone knew that they were at their happiest when you two were together,” oikawa continues, taking a sip of his drink before greeting someone. iwaizumi finds his eyes drifting back to you, and he can’t help but feel like he’s drowning when he sees you looking up at mattsun.

he can see the way your eyes sparkle, looking up at the tall boy with a gentleness that iwaizumi never once saw when the two of you were together. he sees the way you eagerly tilt your head towards mattsun, receiving a peck on the cheek that’s meant to be a brief goodbye as he wanders into the kitchen for more drinks.

“you should go talk to them,” oikawa prompts, leaning against the wall as he watches his best friend with sadness in his eyes. iwaizumi hasn’t been the same since you left him, but neither one could blame you. after all, it was iwa himself who drove you away and led you straight into mattsun’s arms.

the former ace turns to look at oikawa, his face pensive as he thinks about his suggestion. he spares another glance at you, noticing the way you’re scrolling on your phone in an attempt to pass the time. he feels his heart warm as he thinks about walking over to you, imagining the way your face would light up at the sight of him and the way you’d give him that smile that always managed to take his breath away.

he wonders if you’d still laugh at his cheesy jokes, pretending that he’s much funnier than he really is just to make him feel better. he also wonders if there was any way to hear the name “hajime” escape your lips once more, but a part of him knows that any sense of familiarity with his first name was gone the second he broke your heart.

iwaizumi is about to listen to oikawa and make his way over to you when mattsun reappears, handing you a bottle of water and smiling when you intertwine your fingers with his and bring then up to your lips to press soft kisses to his knuckles. iwa watches as you look up at mattsun with the prettiest smile he’s ever seen, and he feels his heart break when mattsun cups your cheek and you don’t hesitate to pull him down into a kiss.

“you know what?” iwaizumi asks, ignoring the sad look oikawa is giving him. “maybe later. they seem kind of busy right now.”

Pairing: Tsukishima Kei x Reader

Requested by: anon

Summary: Tsukishima didn't notice until it was too late and you moved on.

Warnings: Angst

A/n: What is with y'all and requesting Tsukki angst?

You never think you're going to fall in love. It just hits you randomly and suddenly you're reaching for hope that they like you back.

It's been years since you fell in love with Tsukishima Kei. Walking home with him and cracking jokes, supporting him at volleyball games and scolding him when he gets hurt.

And you thought it was mutual. It had to be mutual. Your friend wouldn't intimidate other guys so that they wouldn't ask you out or approach you. Your friend wouldn't hang his arm over your shoulders as you walk home, glancing at you through the corner of his eye, pulling you closer when a bicyclist passes on your side.

Your friend wouldn't-

"Do you think that that girl from class 4 is cute?"

Your mind blanks, the pencil scribbling down math answers halting to an abrupt stop.

When you glance up, Tsukishima's blushing and Yamaguchi is snickering into his hand.

"Why? Develop a crush?" Your voice dosent sound like your own, the tone teasing and the proper response to that type of question.

"Well, I mean. She confessed and told Tsukki to give her his answer tomorrow." Yamaguchi's tone is light, but you can see the quick glance to your face as Tsukishima groans and tells him to shut up.

"Are you going to say yes?" Your heart beats so loudly you're scared they can hear it, the three of you huddled around your living room table, homework and notes sprawled around the area.

"Well, I mean, she's cute." His cheeks flush red and you smile, albeit tensely.

"I say you should go for it." Yamaguchi's eyes widen as he looks over at you, nervous chuckle bubbling out of his throat as he agrees.

The conversation ends there, Tsukishima deciding to change the topic by suddenly exclaiming that Yamaguchi did one of the problem sets wrong.

And time feels like its sped up, your mind wandering off to everything but the math, ranging from fantasies where you confessed right then and there, to how pretty Tsukishima looked, even under the lamplight.

Before you know it, they're leaving, Yamaguchi sending a crooked smile as Tsukishima just waves slightly, the two of them heading home.

It finally feels like you can breathe once you close the door, a wave of exhaustion rolling over you.

And it's not even like you purposefully ignored his texts later when he got home, it's just... overwhelming. The feeling of guilt that you cant be happy for him mixing with the feeling of regret that you didn't confess sooner.

Because, how could you confess now?

The next thing you know, she's everywhere. Hanging off of Tsukishima's shoulder, smiling up at him as he smiles back fondly. Hanging off of Tsukishima's shoulder as the, now four, of you walk to your house to do homework. And again, hanging off of his shoulder as you walk into school, the petite girl sending you a glare, a warning to not get too close.

Really, it's not like you purposefully pulled away. It's just your schedules didnt match up... your parent said that they couldn't come over... you were busy... you.

It's lonely when you're by yourself.

Watching as the three of them laugh as they leave school to head to the convenience store.

It's like you've been replaced. The dynamic stayed the same, just, Tsukishima could kiss her.

And it's embarrassing when you realize that Hinata and Kageyama start to hang out with you because they see you walking past the gym alone, no longer going in to support them during their practice.

"I don't think I like her." Hinata's sucking on a popsicle stick while hanging off the front of his bicycle, Kageyama rolling his eyes at the smaller boy.

"You just don't like her because she dosent bring you snacks during practice."

Hinata just sticks his tongue out at Kageyama before turning to you again.

"We have a practice match with Nekoma next week, you should come see us play."

After spending time with Hinata, you realize it's really hard to say no to him, and even when you explain what happened and why you can't go, he's still insisting.

"Kageyama and I will protect you." You laugh as Hinata flexes his biceps, hitting Kageyama on the arm so that the dark haired boy follows and does the same.

And before you know it, you're sitting in the Nekoma High School bleachers, elbows on your knees and hands supporting your head.

You snort as you realize that Hinata really was like a basketball, bouncing from one side of the court to the other. Tsukishima's words replaying in your mid, leaving a bad taste in your mouth.

"You know, most people don't scowl when they watch volleyball."

You blink twice before realizing that they took a water break, Nekomas captain coming to sit next to you, a smirk on his face as he takes a sip of water.

"Kuroo Tetsuro." He's handsome, in a way that Tsukishima isn't, and it's refreshing how he gives you all his attention and expresses his interest in you.

"y/n."

Kuroo smiles down at you, brown eyes sparkling with mischief.

He wipes his forehead with his shirt and turns to you dramatically.

"You're from Karasuno aren't you." And when you nod, he continues, very dramatically.

"I'm fraternizing with the enemy, luckily they're cute."

When you laugh he turns pink, thinking his joke fell flat.

"That was so bad." He groans and tucks his face in his hands, laughing in embarrassment.

You talk with him for the rest of the break and all the breaks going forward, laughing at his jokes and even flirting to match his energy.

He captures all your attention, and you don't even notice the two boys staring at you from across the gym.

"He's close." Tsukishima's has sets, and he dosent even know why. You were free to talk to whoever you want. It's not like you belonged to him, he had someone else anyways.

"Just leave them be, it's not like they're doing anything bad."

Yamaguchi had kept in contact, he texted you from time to time and knew you needed this to finally get over Tsukishima.

"Yeah but he's so close." Yamaguchi's head whips to Tsukishima, eyes widening in disbelief.

"You're jealous."

Tsukishima scoffs and shakes his head.

"Did you get hit in the head during the practice game? I have a girlfriend." Even when saying that, he can't help that his eyes wander to where you sat with Kuroo, phone held out so that Kuroo could put his number in it, laughing as Kuroo makes a comment.

Tsukishima dosent get a chance to talk to you for the rest of the day, you leave before they do, taking the bus home instead of going with them.

But it's fun to text Kuroo, see him react to what you say and state that he's actually interested in you.

And maybe you like him, and why not give it a try?

The next day at school, all you hear is whispers as you pass, something about Tsukishima and his girlfriend breaking up. Not that it mattered to you.

Until he sat next to you at lunch, Hinata nudging Kageyama so that they could give you and Tsukishima a chance to talk.

"Hi-"

"I like you."

Your mouth hangs open at the declaration as Tsukishima's ears turn pinker by the second.

When you don't say anything, he clears his throat and trys again;

"Go out with me... please?"

Your mouth does dry, and suddenly it feels like you can't sit still.

Tsukishima's heart drops when you avert your eyes.

This wasn't supposed to happen. No, Yamaguchi said you liked him. He was supposed to confess and then you'd date. This is what you wanted, this is what he wanted.

"I'm sorry I-"

Tsukishima dosent want to hear Kuroo's name come out of your mouth, he can't hear Kuroo's name come out of your mouth.

"You've moved on?" Your heart clenches as you hear his voice break, shoulders dropping and jaw tensing.

"Yeah." You feel guilty for some reason, and Tsukishima sighs deeply.

"Sorry for not noticing sooner." At your confused look he just takes a deep breath and continues.

"I didn't notice how I felt until you moved on."

There's no room for you to day anything else as he gets up, swallowing hard and walking away.

And almost as if it was planned, Kuroo's name flashes across your screen, complete with the heart that used to be by Tsukishima's name.

12:44am - Sakusa Kiyoomi x Reader

Warnings: Angst, breaking up

A/n: Influenced by "I don't love you" By Urban Zakapa and my fear of rejection and falling in love.

"I don't love you."

The clock ticks softly in the dimly lit kitchen, Sakusa Kiyoomi hunched over the counter, head in his hands.

"I mean, that's it I guess."

His shoulders shake as he tries not to look at you in the doorway.

Sakusa wasn't drunk or high or under any influence. Which maybe hurt even more, calloused hands running through curly black hair as he lets out a shaky sigh.

He was always blunt, it was one of the reasons you fell for him, brushing his bangs to the side as you kiss the two moles on his forehead, smiling down at the lovesick smile on his lips.

Once soft dark eyes meet yours, and there's pity behind them.

"That's why we're done?" Your voice sounds small as you toy with the hem of your shirt, hot tears spilling over and creating dark spots on the cold linoleum, much like the rain pattering on the concrete outside.

"I cant- I can't say I'm sorry, or ask for your forgiveness. It... I can't do it when I don't mean it." Sakusa's eyes are wide with panic, he never was good with dealing with when you cried.

"You feel nothing? It was all a lie?" Your knuckles turn white as you grip the hem of your shirt, it's embarrassing and you feel smaller then you've ever felt under his gaze.

The suitcase is by the door, it was pure luck that you woke up when you did, even 15 minutes later and even the name Sakusa Kiyoomi would just be a distant memory, a pang of hurt and a bittersweet smile gracing your lips at the mention of the blond boy that broke your heart.

Sakusa's hand shakes slightly as he pushes tears to the side, the feeling engraving its way into your memories, something you'd never be able to find comfort in again, the ghost of a touch on your cheek as you lie in bed crying.

The last words that Sakusa Kiyoomi say to you aren't sorry, or any variant of the sort.

No, instead you get an empty kiss on the cheek, not even filled with fake love or affection that he used to pour into his kisses.

Just a simple "I don't love you, there's no other reason. Don't beat yourself up over this ok, love?"

And with that Sakusa Kiyoomi left, spending sleepless nights on Komori's couch as he realizes that maybe he did the right thing.

Love is fickle, some embrace it, bask in the feeling. It's the best feeling in the world and you're beyond lucky if you're loved back.

But there's a select few in the world who flee from it, Sakusa included. Maybe it's past hurt, maybe it's the fear of falling so completely and utterly in love and not being able to get out. Or maybe, it's the fear that you'll never be able to love someone as much as they love you.

Either way, Sakusa laid on Komori's cold leather couch clutching his chest as silent sobs racked through his body, tears slipping off his face, pattering on the couch.

It really was over.

[TUTORIAL] 進撃の巨人 Gear

Hello everyone! The promised three-dimensional maneuver gear tutorial is finally here! It took me quite a while to complete, mainly because somewhere in-between life happened and I had to postpone various things in favour of school and cosplay events/conventions. Thus, I apologize for the time delay! I hope you can understand that I couldn’t finish it in time that easily. (It feels like there was a deadline for it, haha)

It’s more or less a low-budget tutorial, no fancy materials were used. It’s not exactly a ‘step by step’, 'how-to’ either, but I tried to provide as much commentary as possible and make the explanations as clear as I could. If there any questions, feel free to drop them in my askbox! Also - in case there is a question about specific part I haven’t covered, I’ll definitely make edits in this post if necessary!!

“i dont love you anymore.”

the words were simple and straightforward but that didn’t mean they hurt any less.

you watched as kuroo looked at you blankly, only averting his gaze when he saw your eyes turn glassy with tears. you swallowed harshly, trying to keep your sobs at bay even though you could feel your heart breaking with every passing second.

“w-when?” you whispered, cursing yourself internally for stuttering over your words. your heart dropped to your stomach when you noticed kenma enter the room, his eyes widening briefly as he paused and looked at the two of you. you shook your head, trying to get rid of the embarrassment you were feeling. “when did you stop feeling this way?”

“a few months ago,” kuroo admitted, looking down at the ground to hide his shame. you spared a glance at kenma, who smiled at you a little sadly before approaching kuroo

“coach is asking where you are,” he said softly, trying to ignore the awkward atmosphere as he nodded at you. “practice started twenty minutes ago.”

kuroo looked at you one last time, only being met with your harsh frown as you crossed your arms. he nodded at kenma before approaching you, his mouth dry as he tried to figure out what to say.

“listen, (y/n)-”

“save it,” you said, your tone firm. “it’s fine, kuroo.”

the volleyball captain winced at your words, his last name sounding foreign as it came out from your mouth. you waved him off, stepping back when he tried to get closer. “go to practice. it’s important.”

you’re important. this conversation is impor-”

“stop it,” you said, your voice trembling slightly as you looked up at him one last time. “you can’t choose who you love. it’s okay.”

kuroo stayed silent for a few seconds before nodding. he leaned down slightly, pressing one last kiss to the top of your head before turning away.

kuroo?” you asked. he turned back around, eyes softening as he noticed your bittersweet smile. looking back and forth between him and kenma, you took a deep breath, finally ready to let him go. “i ain’t ever seen two pretty best friends. it’s always one of ‘em gotta be ugly.”

[2:46 am]

osamu was six years old when he met you.

he had been making his way over to atsumu when he had bumped into you, knocking you to the ground and freezing when his eyes met yours. he had expected you to burst into tears, and he was surprised when you had stood up and shoved him to the ground as well.

he had looked up at you curiously before standing and walking up to you, introducing himself and sharing his gummy worms with you.

after that, the two of you had become inseparable.

osamu was thirteen when he began to cook for you.

he had always been a quiet individual, choosing to spend his time cooking and perfecting his recipes instead of interacting with others. being social was more atsumu’s thing, and although he could be quite the social butterfly when he wanted to, osamu preferred to stay in his own quiet corner with you.

he quickly got into the habit of bringing you a bento box everyday, his own special way of showing you how much he cared about you. he would smile softly whenever he would join you and atsumu at your usual lunch table, handing you the food and watching as you received it enthusiastically, gushing over how good the food was as atsumu teased him for always bringing you food yet always neglecting to bring one for his twin.

seeing atsumu’s pout would always make you laugh and the two of you would share the food, unaware of the way that osamu would look at you fondly. he was just happy that you seemed to enjoy the food that he made with love and care specially for you.

osamu was fifteen when he realized he felt something deeper than friendship for you.

it was when the two of you first got to inarizaki and he and atsumu introduced you to suna rintarou. he was a quiet boy and you did everything you could to make him feel comfortable, eventually managing to bring him out of his shell. the way you’d smile at osamu when you looked at him to help you continue the conversation would make his heart skip a beat.

that, combined with the way you would whisper in his ear whenever you brought up an inside joke or the way your eyes would sparkle whenever he said one of his deadpan jokes, made him think that one day his heart would give out because of how much it stuttered around you.

osamu was seventeen when he realized he was in love with you.

it was after they won the match that secured their spot at nationals that he finally realized just how deep his feelings for you ran. he couldn’t take his eyes off of you as you ran onto the court to congratulate the team, watching you with wonder-filled eyes as atsumu scooped you up in his arms and twirled you around.

you were laughing loudly, your head tossed back as you wrapped your arms around the sweaty setter. your smile widened when atsumu put you down. your eyes glancing around until they landed on the grey-haired twin and in that moment, he swore you were the most beautiful thing he had ever laid eyes on.

“congratulations, ‘samu,” you whispered, coming to a stop in front of him. he wasted no time in wrapping his arms around you, a rare grin appearing on his face as he held you in his arms. “you better win nationals!”

“for you, i will,” osamu promised, tightening his hold on you just a little bit more.

osamu was nineteen when he experienced his first heartache.

“yeah, i think he’s cute,” you commented off-handedly, responding to suna who had asked if you would ever date atsumu. you were picking at your food, too engrossed in your phone to realize what you had just said.

“so you think osamu is cute too?” suna asked innocently, sending a sly glance to the grey-haired twin.

“well, yeah,” you snorted, laughing lightly. “they’re twins. if i think that atsumu is cute, then i think that osamu is cute by default.”

the conversation had carried on from there, the topic switching from your love life to suna’s next game. all osamu could think of, however, was how you had basically admitted that you wouldn’t mind dating atsumu. but you had also admitted that he was cute and he spent a lot more time with you than atsumu did, especially now that atsumu had his volleyball career to focus on.

even if you could see yourself with atsumu, osamu knew that there was something about the way you smiled at him, the way you looked at him, that was special only for him. he still had a chance with you, and he was going to do whatever it took to win your heart in the same way you had won his.

osamu was twenty-two when he finally found out what heartbreak felt like.

it was his weekly lunch meeting with you, and there was something about the way you were smiling at your phone that made him realize that there was something you weren’t telling him.

“what’s on your mind?” he asked, setting down a plate in front of you. it was your favorite dish of his, one that he had been making for you since the two of you were teenagers.

“it’s nothing,” you replied hastily taking a bite out of the food and avoiding his gaze. he rolled his eyes and slid into the seat across from you, a faint smirk on his face as he stare you down.

“we’ve never kept secrets from one another,” he teased, stealing a bite of your food. you swatted at him playfully, sitting up straight before lacing your hands together and leaning forwards eagerly.

“alright, no need to get grumpy,” you replied in an equally teasing tone. “if you must know, i have good news”

and what is this good news?” osamu hummed, leaning forwards like you did in mock interest. his eyes were wide and his eyebrows were raised and you let out a small giggle at his exaggerated expression.

“atsumu finally asked me out,” you whispered, your voice filled with excitement. osamu felt his breath leave his lungs at your words and he swore he could feel his heart physically hurting.

he couldn’t help but run through all his memories of the two of you in his mind, remembering the way the two of you would always share your meals and the way that he had always been the first one you had congratulated after a game. he couldn’t help but think about how atsumu always seemed to glow in your presence, and how happy he looked whenever he hugged you and swung you around.

“oh? finally,” osamu replied, forcing a smile onto his face. “it’s about damn time.”

it took all of osamu’s willpower to keep his smile on his face, pretending to listen to you as you enthusiastically told him all about how atsumu had asked you out. all osamu could think about was the fact that he had waited so long to tell you how he felt, and now he was paying the price for it.

“…and he had tears in his eyes and he looked so nervous after confessing that i decided it was finally time to tell him i feel the same,” you finished, chuckling lightly. “he was so excited that he took me out on a date right then and there. he had to cut it short because he knew we had our weekly lunch date, but he said that i shouldn’t make any dinner plans for today.”

“you should have told me,” osamu spit out, trying to keep his composure. “we could’ve scheduled lunch for some other time.”

“don’t be silly, ‘samu,” you laughed, reaching out to grab his hand. “you’re still the most important miya in my life.”

osamu sat there with you for the rest of the afternoon, giving you a tight smile and an even tighter hug when you left for your dinner date with his brother. he sighed as he watched the two of you walk away, his heart feeling ten times heavier than it did at the beginning of the day.

heartbreak sucked, he knew that now. but if his heartbreak meant your happiness, than osamu knew that he would relive it over and over again. now matter how much it hurt.

My Last Letter-

// words: 2k // warnings: mentions of character death, mention of illness, angst, oikawa’s last words basically //

Dear y/n,

Do you remember when we first met? I do. It was raining, and I was late for practice and i hadn’t checked the weather that day - you thought I was an idiot for that, right? I must have looked annoyed or angry or even upset in some way, because you came over to me. A bright pink umbrella in your hand (I’m still confused about it) and that sweet smile on your face. You looked like an angel, did I ever tell you that? I must have. Your hand was cold against mine when you gave me it, your voice too kind as you spoke to me, “you look like you need it, love.”

“do you still love me?”

it sounded more like a prayer than a question. it spoke of shy smiles that turned to late night drives to the sea. it carried the weight of interlinked fingers and morning kisses. it was no louder than a whisper in the cool midnight air, but it screamed for him to remember remember remember.

kuroo had never been a good liar. so when he parted his mouth, his breath came out jagged and ice flooded his veins. his heart leapt into the dark room and grasped the thin string connecting their hearts. the truth fell from his lips as easily as the tears fell from your eyes.

yes, i do. i have loved you for longer than i have been alive, for loving you meant finally coming home. my hands were made to hold you, to collect your tears from the sea and hang it in the night sky. my lips were created to say nothing but your name, the song that would be my demise and my salvation. my heart knows how to love yours the same way my lungs know how to take in air.

i have loved you before – and i will love you again. in this life or the next.

i love you.

i never forgot.

but it was silence that left his lips. it was silence that wrapped its thorns around his throat and forced him to listen to the sobs you tried to suppress. he had said nothing, so he settled onto saying the first and only lie he ever told.

“no.”
