My fellow authors and readers, copyright and plagiarism is HUGE whether its fanfiction or original work. No matter if it’s FF or OW, we work HARD for the stories we create, we put our blood, sweat and tears into every word.

Fictionhunt.com is an unauthorized aggregator that copies content from other sites to redirect traffic to their own site. I’ve asked them to take my stories down. I thought other writers might want to know. FYI my friends previously deleted fic was also found on there!

The site is tricky, and the settings are automatically set to ‘original work’ so if you write Fanfics only, don’t forget to change the settings. The filtering system will change. If you are looking for your pen name the best way is to Google search it like so: Jazznsmoke, Fictionhunt.

If your work is on there, it will pop up on Google. It isn’t a sure bet unless you spend a RIDICULOUS amount of time searching through each fandom, page by page. Who has time for that? If you don’t find your pen name please google search for one of your fics, or several of your fics, ESPECIALLY if you are in the Harry Potter fandom. Example, one of my fics is Your Choice. I would Google search Your Choice, Fictionhunt.

You may be wondering why it’s so important, and that’s fair. This site is ignoring our rights as well as our complaints, concerns and requests for the removal of our work. We chose to post to FF.net, AO3, Wattpad or whatever site, NOT this Fictionhunt site. Each of the sites WE post to has a set of ToS, and Fictionhunt is breaking it; they are taking readers and viewers away from OUR stats on the sites we published to.

Another thing about it is that a lot of us who have had work stolen, well, our pen names were NOT used. The site used random generated usernames with our copy/pasted stories. A lot of our author notes were DELETED. How is that acceptable? When we email them at contact@fictionhunt.com, where their site tells us to go to remove fics we don’t want on their site, they tell us “we cannot delete metadata at this time, however we will lock your account and source it” So they take down our chapters, but source it back to FF or AO3 or wherever they took it from. They claim we will have the ability to claim our accounts and personally remove our works, but how likely is that, considering this site has been an issue for many years?

Do you know the worst thing thus far about this site? They created a Patreon account. This account was created to force readers and writers into paying into a “tier” to read OUR work and gaining a profit off OUR creations.

Listen, ladies and gentlemen of the fandoms, we NEED to band together, show this site that no matter what fandom we are in, no matter if we are a reader or a writer, we will NOT stand for them to steal from us.

Now, here is what’s going on. If you are a writer or a reader PLEASE, I am begging you, search for your pen names and fic names, those of your friends or favorite writers and if you spot names you know wouldn’t approve of FH using their works DM, PM or reblog with their pen names so I can mark them down on my growing list. Please also send me what fandoms the pen names have stolen work in. It’s important. Tag more fandoms, tag your authors with social media and spread the word.

If we all work together, we can get this site taken down and get our works off it and only posted where WE wanted it published. I am contacting the legal teams at both FF.NET and Ao3, I’m busting my butt to get this site shut down. We deserve peace of mind. I have oodles of information so far against this so called “archive.” Together we can get EVERYTHING we need for action against their site.
