would i be an avs fan if i didn't say tyson jost?
you're traded away from your team at the trade deadline the same year they go on to win the cup, traded to a rival who's jersey colours you can't even see, traded for a guy who retires just over a year later, traded traded traded.
the team that drafted you wins the cup without you, all of the guys you have played you entire career with win the ultimate prize, and everyone is asking how you feel about it.
except, you went to one of their playoff games because you love these boys, you love these men. you watched them live and you watched them go on to win because these are your people, even if you were expendable to them.
they win the cup. everyone asks how you feel. you're so proud of them but you're heartbroken.
new season comes, you play your former team, your former family, and they mic you up for it. because thats how this goes. you may get paid to play hockey, but really, you're paid to monetize your pain. you're paid to put on a show. so you do.
and then your traded again.
its better than the team you were just on, but its not your old family. but these guys, maybe they can become your new family. people like you here. they consider you a valuable acquisition. you're wanted.
your new team misses playoffs. the next season, you make the roster. one of the veterans from your old family comes to your new team. you spend the year being moved up and down. you don't know if you have a home, but you hope that you do. your friend from your old family gets traded. you're back in the lineup.
let's hope this time you stay.
