Post 8 facts about your character and tag 8 other characters.

  1. Due to his body size, Drugelis only has a wardrobe for his human disguise. He’s much too thin in his true form, and the wings attached to him are too large for him to put clothes on properly.
  2. The colors on his wings aren’t just for show—  They are spots where powdery scales flake off of his body. The colors determine the effects, though it’s mostly useful in battle. Red scales are highly flammable, green scales inflicts random ailments and illnesses, and pink ones seemingly do nothing. Though in reality, it heals ailments if it’s potent enough.
  3. He possesses two tongues. The first is a aide to help him consume solid food (which he rarely eats) and to make his human disguise more convincing. The second one is his real tongue, hidden underneath the first. It’s more of a proboscis: long, thin, and sharp enough to drink from his prey’s veins (or tear ducts).
  4. Has a passive interest in the club scene, since it was a nostalgic reminder of his teenage years.
  5. Humans are his favorite animal. Though a good amount of his fellow demons assume he’s just saying it to assert his dominance, the reality is he genuinely and sincerely believes this.
  6. On a related note, he has owned human pets in the past. He prefers females over males.
  7. Drugelis has two preferred ways to travel. He either dissolves into a swarm of butterflies (which reforms once he reaches his destination), or he takes his carriage. The former is much more subtle than the latter, which is a subject of urban legend in human villages.
  8. His favorite flower is the iris, especially the Dracula’s Kiss variant. Fittingly, his silhouette could be described as ‘vaguely iris-shaped’.

While he could understand why she would be nervous still, it still stung just in the slightest, yes, both were trying, but it felt like they needed more than just getting used to each other for them to feel more comfortable and not have the usual, awkward silence, his hand gently moved from her head to her shoulder, giving her another light pat. “Hey, do you have a moment to talk?” He kept his voice friendly, trying to ease any nervousness he may have caused her.

While she didn’t think much of him moving his hand, she was curious about his question. What could he want from her? Bonnie tried to guess, but she could only pull blanks. Maybe it was something trivial? She could only hope. After all, small talk was preferable to any sort of serious conversation. Especially with someone like him. “Sure.”

Douma noticed that their comment had irked the other somehow, and so they put their hands together apologetically, bowing their head slightly. “My apologies, places like this tend to be used as shelters most of the time, especially when it rains or it’s cold, I wasn’t aware that this was your home.” Perhaps the decorating was rather… Bad, they had to admit, though they were used to white and golden decorating the streets of Ophanim, rather than abandoned-looking places. “I didn’t mean to offend.”
A small pause was given by the god as they tried to change the subject from the mistake they’d made, before they finally spoke up, trying to remain as polite as possible.
“Sorry to ask, what is your name, sir?” After all, finding a proper way to refer the other was much better than continuing to talk about how abandoned the place looked, or so thought Douma, hoping that the other wouldn’t overthink what they’d said. “I go by Douma.” They offered a gentle smile, though still quite ashamed of what they’d said, seems like this will remain in their head for a while.

Drugelis couldn’t blame the angel for having such a assumption. It was the result of common sense, which many beings seemed to possess. Unfortunately (for him), the same beings didn’t share or understand the appeal of the abandoned. While he was used to their scorn, the vampire couldn’t help but feel frustrated every once in awhile. Was this the burden of having eccentric tastes? Surely there were worse styles out there! But he couldn’t feel that emotion towards his visitor. After all, he didn’t know what kind of standards they had. “None taken.”

A moment passed, though the vampire didn’t notice due to his intense interest towards the other. The moment he realized the angel held intelligence, he knew that they could be curious about him. What was normal for one could be alien to the other. Truthfully, he felt some degree of hesitation. The devil still felt wary being around such a powerful being, but he couldn’t show weakness. Nor he couldn’t be rude. If he had to show his face, then so be it.

“My name?” Instinctively, he tried to straighten his posture, though he was already standing upright. With a wave of a arm, the rest of the candles alighted, bathing the room in a soft glow. Despite his grotesque face, his wings glimmered beautifully in the dim light, not unlike glass. “I am Lord Drugelis.” He felt that using his human alias was for the best, as he highly doubted angels knew any sort of demonic language. Slowly tucking his arm under his torso, he bowed deeply. “It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Aaiieae Doumae.

Bonnie paused, feeling his cold hand touch the top of her head. While such a action was gentle, she still wasn’t used to the demon acting caring towards her. Old habits died hard; it would be awhile before she could return such affection. But at least her response wasn’t too frigid. Quietly, she leaned her head towards his hand. If Xaer wanted to pet her more, he had her permission.

alright I got you* Picks up the pack of pokemon cards and open it for him.* There you go!

It was always nice to see others act so helpful. “Thank you.” Within moments, he was back on his feet. Gently, he took the pack from the stranger, intending to peek through the cards. “Now let’s see here…” His “fingers” prodded at the top of the pack, a bit too thick to pick up even one thin card.

Eventually he stopped, as he stared at it in silence. How could he forget his limitations so quickly?

Burh tell me you got a holographic charizard card

His head snapped up, regarding the visitor with all six black eyes. How could he know, if the pack was still unopened? Unless this person was with that creature, why did they care? He blinked, not caring that a man of his stature was on his hands and knees. For him, this was normal.

“I would not mind telling you, but… I’m having a bit of a problem.” Two eyes glanced at the offending pack, resting not far from the devil. “I can let you look at them first, if you would be so kind as to help me.”

From the abyss, a tentacle slides towards Drugelis, just to hand him a pack of pokémon cards and retreating

What was this?

Immediately his eyes caught the appearance of the appendage, though it didn’t hang around for long. Despite letting out a “Wait”, the creature disappeared as soon as it came. Perhaps it was shy? Or perhaps it had other things to do, and it couldn’t dilly-dally. Either way, he suspected that the being was one of King Usura’s denizens. It just had that certain distinctness characteristic to them.

Though he expected something serious, he was surprised to see a pack of ordinary cards between his claws. “Well, well, well… What do we have here?” The familiar warmth of nostalgia could be felt within his chest. Drugelis didn’t understand how it knew he used to collect cards, but he wanted to thank it later. For now, he had to open it. Which was easier said than done.

In moments, the pack slipped from his ‘hands’ to his lap. After a few more efforts, the pack was on the floor, still unopened. He stared at it with a pained expression, letting out a heavy sigh. Having no hands was suffering.

Oliver nods his head having yet to figure out that the other doesn’t know much about alcohol. He’d always thought that it was a world wide thing due to the many variations of it and just how you could make it.
Yeah, pretty high tolerance. Body burns up the stuff a lot faster then normal people would. At least more than around ten bottles of the stuff to even get a buzz

Considering his appearance, it was obvious that he could burn up alcohol pretty quickly. But she was still surprised at how much he needed to get drunk. She couldn’t imagine drinking that much! Then again, alcohol wasn’t her thing. Perhaps she hadn’t found a liquor sweet enough to consider trying.

Ten...?! That sounds... expensive.” His wallet must’ve wept every time he wanted a drink! Could he even afford all that alcohol in the first place? His appearance was quite shabby, to say the least. She wasn’t talking to a potential drunkard, right? Right?

The sight of candles suddenly lighting up called Douma’s attention, surprising them lightly, however, they did not say much, they stood where they were and observed, after all, they could never know what this being was capable of, pitch black eyes rested on the other, and awaited for something that told them that it was safe to speak.
Was that hesitation however? It seemed for a moment as if both of them were analyzing the situation and waiting for the other to do something first. The god was about to make a comment, now that they could see a little better, about the looks of the place- Before a voice stopped them from saying anything, the figure that stood there spoke.
“Rain…?” Of course, it seemed like there wasn’t the best of weathers, they hadn’t truly thought of it, and they had to look back for a moment, almost as if looking for a window so they could look out and see, it was indeed quite gray, how careless of them! “That wasn’t the original idea, if I’m honest with you.” But it works, Douma closed their eyes before turning their head to the other.
“I was exploring, that’s just it.” They had their reasons to enter this place in particular of course! But that was not the question given to them, no need to go into full detail when it wasn’t needed, right? Though one question formed in their mind, and they had to pause for a moment and realize exactly what they were just doing.

“Oh dear.” A hand was brought to their mouth, and they grimaced. “I’m sorry, is this your shelter?” Close enough, perhaps, was this a homeless creature and were they disturbing their only shelter? the god couldn’t help but feel slight guild.

The breath he held escaped from between his sharp teeth. That creature actually understood him, and it seemed that they understood common concepts. From what he knew, celestial beings tended to be feral, or possess thought processes completely alien to the ordinary man. The dark eyes of the vampire widened a bit, as he observed every single thing about the angel. His staring was less obvious due to standing in the shadows, but he didn’t feel any shame for such a potentially rude action.

Their reasoning was no different from the others who visited, but it couldn’t help but make Drugelis a bit suspicious. Angels were servants to gods, and for all he knew, they could be a spy of sorts. That thought was brief however, as he was in awe towards how mortal they seemed. Their voice and expressions displayed such familiar emotion thought to only exist amongst the peoples in his world, and even their clothing resembled those of mortals. It was unclear whether this being was a anomaly amongst their kind, but such uncertainty made the devil want to learn more.

Eventually, all his thoughts came to a screeching halt once he realized he had been insulted. Rudeness (intentional and unintentional) was also a mortal trait, and that had slipped his mind until now. “This is my home. Not a shelter.” His tone was mild, but it had a certain firmness to it. There was no reason to be rude back, right? Even though he did feel a bit slighted. “I suppose you could say I’m a minimalist of sorts, when it comes to home decor.”

Now, Douma wasn’t a really nosy person, usually, they kept themselves from any situation that could result in trouble, but sometimes, curiosity plays a strong part in their behavior, making them go through places or experiences that perhaps they shouldn’t really deal with as a god. But did they truly care? Not at all! A lot of people underestimated them, and that was usually the reason why they resulted victorious, in case they needed to fight.
But it wasn’t always that they found abandoned places that were haunting and charming in some sense, and the sense of adventure coated them and pushed them to explore its inside. While it was dark, the god could still somewhat see, And as much as it seemed like a completely abandoned place, something still felt quite off, could it be the fact that it still seemed like there was some sort of care? Or maybe the feeling of being observed?
image
While they couldn’t completely confirm the first feeling, they could definitely do it for the second, their exploration came to a halt the moment they saw a figure, approaching, and so their black eyes stared, careful, cautious, it was more than clear that they’d both seen each other already. They didn’t know if it was convenient or not to speak, so they observed, awaiting for any signal that it was safe to keep going, or not.

Trespassers weren’t something that rarely happened. In fact, it was a somewhat common occurrence due to the devil’s appreciation for sacrifices. Typically it would be a male; either a father, a brother, or a husband. It was admirable how much they loved the woman that would be in distress. Alas, no one had bested him yet. Uncommonly, he would also get nonhuman visitors. Mostly demonic messengers keeping him up to date with the state of his homeland.

This visitor, however, was none of these. Despite having excellent night vision and six eyes, Drugelis still couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Was his eyes playing tricks on him? Lately, he felt exhausted, as he had to change his sleeping hours from day to night. Perhaps this visitor was just a fairy; the snow white skin was a possible indicator. But that was wishful thinking on his part. Raising a hand claw, he gently flicked it in the intruder’s direction. Instantly, a few nearby candles lit up, casting a small (yet warm) glow.

There was no mistaking it this time. Somehow, one of them found their way to his home. He was facing a creature of falsified myth; his kind didn’t believe in angels! At least, the general public didn’t. And that only happened due to the influence of devils before him. Perhaps the most intriguing (and horrifying) thing about the angel was how different they looked. Aside from a humanoid shape, it didn’t resemble any of the figures described in the documents. In fact, if it wasn’t for their black hair (amongst other features), the devil would’ve thought the intruder was simply a stray White Lady.

At some point, he realized he might have hesitated a bit. His only knowledge of angels was from the documents, and as far as he knew, the picture that painted their behavior was less than civil. Drugelis stayed in the shadows, as if they would protect him. If this angel was never seen before, then their behavior would be unpredictable. Approaching them politely wouldn’t hurt, right? Despite his confidence in his abilities, he wasn’t ready to test the myth that angels were stronger than his kind.

“Are you taking shelter before the rain?” This wasn’t a lie, as gray clouds could be seen outside any window. Subconsciously, he held his breath. Angels could understand the human languages, right? Right?

@diaforetikes liked this post!

It was barely dawn once the tall being returned to his home. Pretending to be cursed was a bit tougher than he thought, as he had to commit to a few sacrifices to keep his false image. Not only his sleep schedule was in disarray, he constantly felt hunger gnawing at his thin bones! The price he had to pay for pretending to be a enchanted hair clip, of all things. If everything went right, it would be worth every agonizing moment. But such a possibility didn’t stop him from sighing tiredly.

The devil’s senses were sharp, and he could tell his retainers weren’t there. Perhaps out doing a task he requested; there was nothing wrong with that. Drugelis took a few steps away from the mirror, before he stopped. Intuition told him to feel his surroundings again, as something felt off. More accurately, he hoped nothing was off, but he was wrong. It was subtle, yet it nagged at him and felt out of place. Very out of place. Typically, his servants would’ve dealt with the problem. As of now, he was a bit relieved that they were absent.

There was a urge to creep, but he stayed strong. After all, he wasn’t a lord for nothing. He wasn’t specially educated for nothing. Standing tall, Drugelis strode confidently (yet quietly) forward. He was going to get to the bottom of this, regardless of his initial feelings.
