im trying to think of like disabled women characters from stuff released in the last year and im drawing a massive blank lmao but that be partially on me not watching/reading many things so uhhhh anyone know any?
I haven’t seen it myself, but Koe no Katachi (’A Silent Voice’) deals with its protagonist Nishimiya Shouko being bullied for her deafness, and apparently it’s a good and respectful portrayal. The film Miss Hokusai also has O-Nao who is blind (that one’s 2015 though - another 2015 one is The Anthem of the Heart which has a mute protagonist who tries to express herself through singing). The epic fantasy book The Wall of Storms has Zomi Kidosu, an incredibly badass lesbian scientist who requires a mobility aid. She’s a very major character and I’d really recommend the series.
