Excited housewife tangent:

Ever since we bought the house we have not had a pantry. it’s not so good for me and my ADHD brain to not have a designated pantry. we have had food scattered through a variety of cabinets and it’s been a slow descent into bad cooking habits because I can’t see all of my ingredients. 💀

I have been wanting a pantry so badly that I was going to make hubby build me one once we had some extra money and to find one for free in good condition is a HUGE relief. (I wish we didn’t have to sacrifice the small kitchen window but it didn’t fit anywhere else because it’s so big.) That being said I now have a butt load of re-organizing to do and I’m really hoping this is a step forward and being comfortable with hosting people over at our house in the future. 🎉

I grew up moving regularly to different rental houses for most of my life and having my own house has not only been a journey in terms of getting used to not moving around anymore …but it’s also finding out that I actually do have value and pride in ownership of my own place. ❤️

I think I drive my husband crazy with how often I’m trying to make the house look like a Pinterest house end it was clearly not built with the intention of being a Pinterest house 🤣

The hallway closet was our overflow pantry so now I have that back and our bedroom closet no longer has to hold all of the blankets, linens and towels AND our clothes. I can re-organize the closet and I’m hoping we can now share it with the baby when he gets here. 👶🏼

We also have these cubby shelves my husband built (and I painted!) in the living room last week that’s going to hold all the blankets so the hallway closet won’t be so stuffed full of towels and linens that it doesn’t shut.

I am so excited and overwhelmed at the same time because my nesting is about to go into overdrive and we’re going out of town this week so I only have like two days to do anything and I want to get the house in order enough that when we come back it’s not a disaster.

Time to body double by watching Youtubers who like to clean and organize ! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Drive home from celebrating 4th of July with in-laws and it’s only been dark for an hour…7 year old complains of a headache and then pukes on himself twice. My pregnant ass starts dry heaving while driving but I manage not to vomit as well.

Get home, I immediately to inside and get painkillers for kiddo and turn on the shower so he can rinse off the puke and chlorine from swimming today.

Hubby busts through the front door with our Pekin duck in his arms and she’s got a bloodied neck because he just stopped a raccoon from killing her. The other ducks are still out of the coop since we got home later than expected.

We rush out there and they’re huddled under the deck and the raccoon is audibly lurking the property perimeter. I take the flash light so hubby can put the injured duck in a tote in the office.

The neighbors we share the fence with are lighting off fireworks and since I’m 6 months pregnant I’m struggling to multi task the situation…. so I call out to them, tell them one of the ducks had been attacked and then ask for help with a) finding the raccoon and b) wrangling the ducks

They proceed to shine their phone flashlight on me as I’m trying to get the hose hooked up to try and spray the fence line and scare the raccoon off. It runs into their yard. They inform me and then as my husband returns they go back to lighting off fireworks

The ducks now refuse to come out from under the deck because the fireworks are terrifying them. We spent 15-20 mins trying to get them out and neither one of us can get under the deck. Our 7 year old could but he was feeling sick with a migraine.

Tbh I’m genuinely upset that I asked the neighbors for help with our ducks and not only did they choose not to come help but then they continued to light off fireworks while we were struggling to put them away. They are our age and don’t have kids. I honestly am kind of butthurt because I just did the wife’s haircut at the salon on Saturday and we talked about giving them duck eggs and maybe our husbands hanging out.

Not giving them duck eggs now 😤
