8:40pm — matsuno chifuyu 

“i’m sorry, love. i have to take this.” you say as you hear the specific ringtone your best friend set on your phone.

“it’s okay, baby!” chifuyu said, 

you shot chifuyu an apologetic look as you answered the phone. 

“what is i–” a wail interrupts your greeting as you hear your best friend sob through the phone. 

“what happened? what’s wrong?” you answered panickedly. your best friend responded with sobs and the call was basically incoherent. you try to piece together the little mumbles that she let out. 

by what you have gathered. her boyfriend and her fought over something small and then it escalated and now they haven’t been talking for the whole day since last night.

“do you want me to come to your place?” you look at chifuyu apologetically, who was half paying attention to you as he reads through his manga book. once you insist on going to her place, chifuyu looks at you and gives you an encouraging nod. 

you lowkey felt bad that you were going to ditch chifuyu on your date but chifuyu knows that the bond of you and your best friend is unbreakable. 

“no.” your best friend sniffles, “i just needed to let it out, i want to think about this by myself for now. i’ll call you again tomorrow.” she assures. you ask multiple times if she was sure and she cuts you off with a watery giggle. 

“yes, yes. i’ll be fine. i know your messages are open. thanks for being there, i love you!” your best friend says and you smile as you say the words back before she ends the call. 

“you okay, baby?” you nod to chifuyu’s question as you join him back in the bed, entering his opened arms as you cuddle to his warmth. 

“yeah. don’t worry about it, what were we going to watch again?” you asked, chifuyu shrugs as he opens the television, scrolling through the shows that were plastered on the screen. 

the two of you decided on watching something that you’ve already watched, not being in the mood to start something new. 

“love?” chifuyu hums in response. 

“why don’t we ever fight?” chifuyu pulls away a little to look you in the eyes in confusion. 

“what do you mean?” 

“i mean, we’ve been dating for like… three years–” “two years and ten months, baby.” you shake your head with a smile at his correction. 

“fine, two years and ten months… but i can count how many times we’ve fought on one hand.” 

“are we doing something wrong?” you finish and you hear chifuyu let out a hum as he thinks about his answer. 

“baby, i don’t think you realize how in love i am with you and how i’d worship the ground you walk on.” chifuyu answers as he gives you a smile. 

“i care about you so much that i’d do anything for you and i would never want us to fight because you’re the most important person in my life and you’re all i've ever wanted.” he holds your hand, pressing a kiss on your knuckles. 

“if fights happen, i would want to resolve them immediately and i want you to feel nothing but happiness in our relationship. baby, i love you so much that i’d do everything. i don’t ever want you to relate to sad songs.” 

you pout, feeling a bit emotional at the declaration your boyfriend professed. 

“you’re too good to me, chifuyu.” your blonde boyfriend shakes his head. 

“no, baby. you’re too good for me,” chifuyu says, you shake your head as you cup his cheek with one hand, pulling his face closer so you can place your lips on his, giving him a short yet sweet peck. 

“maybe we’re just right for each other.” you whisper, from your proximity, you can see chifuyu’s cheeks turn red but before you could tease him for it, he kisses you once more then pulls away to peck your cheek. 

“yeah, maybe. ”

it doesn’t surprise you when emma informs you of draken’s proposal to her. 

the two had been pining after each other for as long as you could remember, and really it’s cute that he’s decided to propose to her at the age of twenty-two. emma is elated as she tells you and her now maid of honor hina what plans she has for the wedding.

a plastic bag filled with dog food and a variety of pet toys swings at your side as you walk down one of the less busy streets of shibuya, an umbrella held up in your opposite hand to shield you from the downfall of rain. you turn down another street lit by bright, colorful lights that will lead you to the alley you’ve found yourself visiting regularly for the past couple of weeks. it’s coming up now but before you allow yourself to round the corner, you hear rustling coming from the narrow passageway.

keeping your distance, you peek around the building to silently investigate the noise. you hope it’s just the puppy you’ve been stopping by each night after work to see but there’s a much larger, human figure looming over the box the stray was left in. the fingers grasping your umbrella twitch as you hold back the urge to confront the stranger. and you’re glad that you hesitate for two reasons.

one being that it seems that the person means the puppy no harm. from what you can make out, they’re setting up a makeshift dog house using some of the discarded cardboard to keep the helpless animal from getting wet—not an action worth interrupting.

though, the second reason is what really keeps you frozen to your spot. even in the dimly lit alley, you recognize the light blonde streak of hair hanging in front of the man’s face, strands stuck together and dripping drops of water into the puddles beneath him. it’s hanma shuji.

you’ve heard enough rumors to know he isn’t good news. despite the underlying tones of affection in his act, you don’t trust that his kindness will extend to you. you’re contemplating walking around the block and returning when he’s taken his leave but before you have the chance to, a golden gaze is burning a hole in you.

shinichiro mumbles the sentence as he exhales out the smoke from his cigarette, turning his head so that what passes his lips doesn’t get blown straight to your face. 

parts of it drift in the air, caught by the wind only to be scattered back towards you. you scrunch your nose and he mutters a small apology, waving away what remains with the hand not holding the cigarette. 

his apology is met with a small s’okay from you, fingers tapping at his knee and tucking yourself into his side when the wind blowing again leaves you shivering on the steps you’re seated on.

it was almost a routine, at this point - for you to meet shinichiro at his garage and walk with emma and mikey to school since your work was on the way. 

even on the days you had off, you’d insist on walking with them, and despite shinichiro’s assurances that you didn’t need to get up at six-thirty in the morning because he could walk them, you’d already be waiting in front of the garage for the three of them - taking emma’s backpack from him, giving him a quick kiss on the lips while pressing a warm breakfast sandwich into his hands, and then you’re walking away before he can even protest.
