The way I gripped the arms of my chair like I was on a god damn rollercoaster upon learning that Dami is at the MET Gala ๐Ÿซ

Interviewer: Hey! You look amazing.

Damiano:

Interviewer: How are you feeling? Is there a detail about your look tonight that youโ€™re especially excited about that you want us to notice?

Damiano: *whips out a nipple*

Iโ€™m gonna give yโ€™all a tiny peek on whatโ€™s going on behind the scenes here @ FilthforFriends

These anons were sent by the same person from different burner accounts. Using my sense of justice to entrap me is an unexpected level of sophistication. Usually itโ€™s just juvenile rage & hatred aimed at wounding me deeply.

This person has been fixated on me for 2 years. Weโ€™ve never even had a conversation. Theyโ€™ve sent well over a hundred poisonous & often cruel anons from god knows how many burners. I canโ€™t effectively block them. I canโ€™t even keep up with differentiating & deleting their asks.

This person goes through periods of obsessively tracking my blog activity, using every new post as an opportunity to be mean. In this instance, they even noticed that Iโ€™d changed my bio as bait. Previously, this user closely tracked my interactions in order to identify & harass my friends for supporting me. Meanwhile, they were also slandering my name to any potential new friends in an organized effort to make me so lonely & isolated Iโ€™d leave Tumblr.

I could keep going. Hereโ€™s a snippet from a draft about enduring this:

"Sometimes while I ride the subway I try to look at each person and imagine what they look like to someone who is totally in love with them. I think everyone has had someone look at them that way, whether it was a lover, or a parent, or a friend, whether they know it or not. Itโ€™s a wonderful thing, to look at someone to whom I would never be attracted and think about what looking at them feels like to someone who is devouring every part of their image, who has invisible strings that are connected to this person tied to every part of their bodyโ€ฆI wish I thought about people like this more often. I think itโ€™s the opposite of what our culture teaches us to do. We prefer to pick people apart to find their flaws."

That's not a scar, maybe just her clothes left a line. Her boobs look the same, but also have you heard about HORMONES? She can change full cup sizes around period etc. You keep pretending to be a feminist, gaslighting us with your tags that uwu don't come for me, but truth is that you can't stand the idea of her doing something SHE wants without asking public for permission. She's not a fucking monkey in a zoo, she can do what she wants. Get over yourself, you delicate flower

This is penance, isnโ€™t it?

The relationship between plastic surgery, unattainable beauty standards, capitalism, & our collective misery is on my mind a lot. This situation with Vic was an excellent starting point, but I didnโ€™t feel like spending two days crafting a post. I should have made the effort to broach the subject tactfully & been intentional in directing it. But I was lazy so now this gets to be my teaching moment instead.

Your reaction to these tags โฌ†๏ธ tells me youโ€™re a choice feminist (also referred to as a white feminism or liberal feminism). But whatโ€™s the problem with choice? Choice in the whole point! My Body My Choiceโ„ข๏ธ

MBMC is a slogan pertaining to abortion thatโ€™s been widely misused. Here the feminist issue is essentially government having jurisdiction over female reproduction. Deciding to have an abortion isnโ€™t necessarily a feminist act. In abusive relationships or ones with power differentials, pregnant people are pressured to terminate. People even abort fetuses they suspect to be female because they wanted a son. Itโ€™s not about individual choice, but rather dismantling systems of oppression.

Government jurisdiction over personal freedoms is one instance thatโ€™s universal, but many oppressive systems donโ€™t target all women so theyโ€™re not labeled as a โ€œwomenโ€™s issue.โ€ Thatโ€™s why intersectional feminism is so important, because it recognizes systemic issues which target specific demographics within womanhood. By that I mean WOC are oppressed by racism, therefore racism is a feminist issue. Impoverished women are oppressed by capitalism, therefore poverty/capitalism is a feminist issue. Same thing with ableism, transphobia, homophobia, etc. These should all be the concern of feminists.

So if feminism is a womanโ€™s right to make decisions about their own body, what happens when she chooses to oppress less privileged women? What if wearing a sexy Sacajawea ๏ฟผcostume on Halloween makes her feel empowered? Does she get to beat every critique to a pulp with a My Body My Choiceโ„ข๏ธ billy club? No.

Exercising personal autonomy does not inherently make a choice feminist. Meaning you can criticize a womanโ€™s individual choice about her body without being anti-feminist, as long as youโ€™re not enacting systems of oppression in doing so. For example, you can criticize the hypothetical choice to get plastic surgery then withhold that information.

Fine, fine

Victoria being a full 2 cup sizes larger than usual during her Riga DJ gig is some weird anomaly, moving on

But why does it matter if a famous person gets cosmetic surgery or procedures?

Celebrities are the spokespeople for beauty standards & no one becomes a symbol of aesthetic desirability by accident. It takes time, money, & intention to curate that, which is important to note. It is irresponsible for a celebrity to claim that a synthetic part of their appearance is natural because it creates unrealistic beauty standards that literally canโ€™t actually be obtained.

Normal person thinks natural = attainable. So they just have to work harder. When they inevitably fail, they fault themselves. Or maybe they look in the mirror & simply feel loathing. Enter expensive, cult-like diet & exercise programs sold by people whoโ€™ve also been surgically altered. โ€œYou can be just like me!โ€ is their selling point. Meanwhile the beauty industry offers a vicious cycle of buying & disappointment. So many products with so many promises, but none of them conceal & correct as advertised. A normal person thinks theyโ€™re broken instead of realizing that their point of comparison isnโ€™t real.

Nobody looks like that. Not you, not them, not anyone! That level of aesthetic beauty simply does not occur in nature.

Edenโ€™s real time reaction to that Maserati commercial

0:00 Fuck yeah, hair!!!

0:02 Damn James Bond okay๐Ÿ‘…

0:04 WTF was that face? Dami has elevated translating well on camera to an art form. Bizarreโ€ฆ

0:07 Eurovision pearl earring! Kudos to the stylist I love that reference.

0:15 They should have had Dami do the narration.

0:17 THAT IS HIM. Why did he say โ€œItaliansโ€ with a Boston accent๐Ÿ˜‚

0:20 Nooo onomatopoeias are so cringe

0:23

0:34 Damiano is very much character written by a woman and this script is very much male gaze. It clashes so hard that & I can hear him cringing.

0:47 Giggling because it looks like Damiano is just trying to find his (god damn) cigarettes after being woken up at the ass crack of dawn awe

0:49 Are those auto tuned horse whinnies??

0:51 UGH heโ€™s so fine ๐Ÿ’•

0:55 Not the Gen Z buzzwords again๐Ÿ™‡๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

1:16 Finally believable, confident, sexy. He should have been doing this the whole time!

1:18 โ€œPassionโ€ with the accent๐Ÿฅด Yep, that hits.

1:22 I think heโ€™s able to finally put the persona on because speaking to camera is familiar enough. He exudes confidence & ease which is why they hired him so whatโ€™s with this heavy handed, god awful script?

1:27 No. Maserati, you have not done nearly enough for that.
