genuinely one of the worst things that’s happened to television in the last few years (exacerbated by streaming services) is death of Filler. going from 20 episodes to 8 because “we didn’t really need that episode where the main characters went to the beach right? it had no long lasting effect” but we DID!!! we needed to see how they act without the Big Bad Plot and to establish the dynamics between the characters and lay in the sun (do they forget sunscreen? how do they react to a thieving seagull? do they get buried in the sand or do they do the burying?). the plot isn’t everything. the action doesn’t hit as hard without the quiet moments. give us character development and our little scenes back

You know what. The Hobbit movie are actually really good. Everyone’s expectations were just too high after The Lord of the Ring and expected The Hobbit to be the exact same. But it’s not. The Hobbit book was meant for children and doesn’t have the same themes of LOTR. So I like how they went with a different aesthetic/feel for the movies. While yes they did over do it with the use of CGI and yes they did go off on plot lines that weren’t that great, it’s still good and the people who worked on it tried very hard to please everyone but in the end they couldn’t. People shit on prequels and sequels because no matter what they won’t hold up to your expectations of the originals. In this essay I will-

Title: Wanderer in a Shadowed Land Fandom: The Hobbit Genre: Angst. Rating: R Summary: Imagine catching Thranduil’s eye when the Company is captured. He offers to release everyone if you’ll spend one night with him, infuriating Thorin who has fallen for you. (This imagine from @imaginexhobbit .) It’s a fairly old imagine, but I just saw it a few months ago and it’s taken me this long to build up the courage to post it for public consumption. Warnings/Notes: This story has “sex” that is dubcon at best and flat-out rape at worst. The prompt itself kind of calls for it, and I personally find it almost therapeutic to write. If that’s not your thing, please avoid this story. I’m also partway into writing a sequel/second chapter to this that I may or may not end up posting, if there seems to be interest.

It was dark. The dimly-flickering torches did very little to touch the all-consuming darkness that surrounded you. Perhaps that was the whole point of building a prison underground. You tried to ignore the cold stone bench beneath you and the cold stone wall behind your back. Another benefit of the prison’s location, you thought to yourself. Somewhere in the distance beneath the sounds of your companions’ snoring, you could hear the quiet trickling of water. Some underground stream, perhaps? You had hoped that the sound would fade quickly into the background, but you still heard it most of the time.

It had been at least two days that you’d been in here, maybe more. And it would probably be many many more before you were released. The guards had dragged Thorin away after you’d first been captured, only to bring him back practically frothing with rage, not long after. He’d spoken of some proffered deal, which had raised your hopes, but then proudly spat that he had turned it down. Naturally. He’d said something about there still being hope—Bilbo.

A deep and hopeless hush had fallen over your fellow prisoners when a set of elven guards escorted a very familiar halfling into a cell of his own. So much for Thorin’s last hope. What would he say if he knew there was still one last way out?
