this is so important

a small drabble for @bloodbluebat, for @thearcanasecretsanta !! short, sweet, plotless fluff! hope you enjoy!

“Don’t leave!” Saara plead, pouting as she held tight to Julian’s hand. Snow was falling fast outside the shop’s window. The streets were already covered, and it was certainly too cold for him to walk home alone.

“I can’t stay,” Julian said, eyes downcast, avoiding the all too tempting sight of Saara’s pretty pout. “I need to be getting back-”

“Look at that storm! You’re not going anywhere in this weather!” insisted Saara, tugging Julian’s hand a bit to lead him towards the fire. “It’s so cold outside- you’ll freeze to death.”

“I-”

Saara stepped closer, wrapping her arms around his waist.

“Stay here,” she whispered. “Help me keep warm.”

Julian felt his resolve weaken. How could he say no to such an appealing offer?

“Alright.”

Within moments, the pair of them were settled in front of a roaring fire, blanket settled over their shoulders and hands entwined. A comfortable silence fell over the pair of them as they were more than content to simply enjoy one another’s company. It was a cozy respite from the storm outside, and the time slipped by peacefully. Far too fast, the fire was low and the air was sleepy.  

“You should probably get to bed soon,” Julian murmured, though he made no attempt to move away from her. Saara yawned, snuggling herself deeper into Julian’s side.

“I’m fine,” she said, fighting to keep her eyelids open. His presence was so comforting, so soothing. It was easy to feel relaxed around him. “Besides, I couldn’t leave you out here by yourself.“ Saara turned, resting her chin on his shoulder so she could stare at Julian’s face. Sunken cheeks, bags under his eyes. He looked as tired as he was handsome, which was very. “You need even more rest than me, from the looks of it.”

“Oh, you needn’t worry about me,” Julian said, charming grin spreading across his features. “I’ll be just fine. Besides, if memory serves, there’s only one bed here.”

“So?” Saara asked, brow arched and grin mischievous. “There’s more than enough room for two. And it’s not like we haven’t shared a bed before.”

Julian’s face turned the same color as his hair, his smile softening.

“Well if, if you’re willing I mean, I wouldn’t mind spending the night in your arms,” he said, arm winding around Saara’s waist. Saara smiled, letting the blanket fall from their shoulders as she stood, grabbing Julian’s hand and pulling him up with her.

“Of course I’m willing,” Saara said, leading them upstairs. Their hands didn’t leave each other’s as they went.

The room was small, but familiar. The messy bed took up most of the space, leaving just enough room for a couple small wardrobes. Julian had to duck a bit to get through the door frame but soon enough they were settled once more, curled around each other and smiling into the darkness.

“Goodnight, Saara,” Julian said, wrapping his arms around her and pressing a gentle kiss to the top of her head.

“Goodnight,” she replied, humming happily as she settled into his embrace.

As they drifted off to sleep, they were both quite grateful Julian had decided to stay, because there was nowhere else they would rather be.

So I love to draw for people and because it is always good practice to draw characters other than my own, I’m new to the arcana fandom and I love y’all already, and also because I am trying to raise awareness that I’m available for commission…. I’m offering to draw some quick color sketches of fan apprentices. Probably like waist up or something??

20$ says millennials somehow get blamed for "killing the internet" when we all stop using half the internet cuz we can't afford it

Today, the FCC voted to repeal net neutrality.

They voted to separate me from family and friends all over the world that I can only contact through messages, snapchat, WhatsApp, tumblr, and email.

They voted to allow people in abusive families to kill themselves because they couldn’t access support from online friends or music or videos.

They voted to crush my dreams of becoming an author using google, google apps, news sites, and various blogs as platforms and as places to research.

They voted to oppress the public by putting a price on the truth about oppressive leaders- not only in the US, but around the world.

They voted for me to curl up in the dark and cry myself into oblivious exhaustion when I have a panic attack rather than look up a song on Spotify or Pandora.

They voted to put artists, fanfiction writers, music creators, and youtubers out of work or cut their income because of receiving less views or inability to produce.

They voted to keep people questioning their gender, sexual, or religious identities from knowing that they aren’t broken or wrong if they’re different.

Today, the FCC knowingly voted to step on the middle and lower class like ants.

But we’re cockroaches.

They have won the battle, but not the war.

This still has to go through to Congress. They’ve stopped this repeal before. They can do it again. Keep going on Battle for the net. Don’t give up. I sure as hell won’t. I have my dreams, family, friends, mental health, and my fellow humans to fight for. Help me. Help us.

Please. This is our last chance.

I woke up from the weirdest dream yet! I was seated at a bench with Julian in a park feeding baby crows. Sounds romantic right?

WRONG.

As I was feeding these crows some bread I heard cries for help from afar. It was evening and quite dark. The sky painted red. I swear to god the city was under some sort of coup and Julian damn Devorak decided to take me on a romantic date while the city is in flames and turmoil???

Imagine that you’re twenty years old. You were born in 1996. You were five years old on 9/11. For as long as you can remember, the United States has been at war.

When you are twelve, in 2008, the global economy collapses. After years of bluster and bravado from President George W. Bush — who encouragedconsumerism as a response to terror — it seems your country was weaker than you thought.

In America, the bottom falls out fast. The adults who take care of you struggle to take care of themselves. Perhaps your parent loses a job. Perhaps your family loses its home.

In 2009, politicians claim the recession is over, but your hardship is not. Wages are stagnant or falling. The costs of health care, child care, and tuition continue to rise exponentially. Full-time jobs turn into contract positions while benefits are slashed. Middle-class jobs are replaced with low-paying service work. The expectations of American life your parents had when you were born — that a “long boom” will bring about unparalleled prosperity — crumble away.

Baby boomers tell you there is a way out: a college education has always been the key to a good job. But that doesn’t seem to happen anymore. The college graduates you know are drowning in student debt, working for minimum wage, or toiling in unpaid internships. Prestigious jobs are increasinglyclustered in cities where rent has tripled or quadrupled in a decade’s time. You cannot afford to move, and you cannot afford to stay. Outside these cities, newly abandoned malls join long abandoned factories. You inhabit a landscape of ruin. There is nothing left for you.

Every now and then, people revolt. When you are fifteen, Occupy Wall Street captivates the nation’s attention, drawing attention to corporate greed and lost opportunity. Within a year, the movement fades, and its members do things like set up “boutique activist consultancies.” When you are seventeen, the Fight for 15 workers movement manages to make higher minimum wage a mainstream proposition, but the solutions politicians pose are incremental. No one seems to grasp the urgency of the crisis. Even President Barack Obama, a liberal Democrat — the type of politician who’s supposed to understand poverty — declares that the economy has recovered.
