The older I get the more I admire people who are earnestly, genuinely into whatever their thing is. I know it sounds like an annoying cliche but unless you're being cruel or hurtful there is really no need to be normal about things. The dude with the bad fake accent at the renaissance faire is having the time of his life. The people having photoshoots with their fashion dolls are loving it. The old lady with a yard unreasonably full of tacky ass lawn ornaments is having a blast, HOA be damned.

Don't waste your time being too cool to have fun, y'know?

I've noticed that some people making car content on the internet have stopped saying "tranny" as short for transmission, and using "trans" instead. Not sure if that's because of self-censorship to avoid demonetization on youtube, or if its because they actually don't want to say a slur anymore, but all I do know is it can end with some pretty funny results:

i hate that every time i look for color studies and tips to improve my art and make it more dynamic and interesting all that comes up are rudimentary explanations of the color wheel that explain it to me like im in 1st grade and just now discovering my primary colors

“red and green are opposites 🥰” cool now how do i paint a tree with pinks and blues without it looking like a child’s finger painting or incongruous blobs of rainbow vomit

ok i can’t explain it very well but im looking for tips and techniques for rendering art like

with specifically the highlights and colors being hues that compliment each other, don’t distract from the scene, and make it more interesting/visually appealing

is it too much to ask

gonna drop some sources I have saved on Pinterest! I don't know if these all link back to the original sources so apologies for that

This one's more for palette building but I think it's useful and can be applied to the other ones

"Chromatic fringe" - I also see people using this with shading, they bring in a transition color that is a different hue than the base color or shadow, it makes it so that less vibrancy is lost and it doesn't get muddy!

This one specifically has a lot of process behind the style of painting you're looking for!

Also one of my favorite artists who makes bright and colorful art like this is Not Sorry Art on TikTok & YouTube, her website is here and it's<3 my fav. She has some videos where you can see her process

With the oranges painting you put as an example, I noticed they painted the lighter values more toward yellow - they also exaggerated the hues of the undertones of the photo, so I'm guessing they either did it in their head or bumped the saturation up to get a closer look! I really love these paintings you shared and I definitely share your desire to paint/draw like that :)

thanks this is super helpful! /gen

i dont think i posted these but here i made a little frog pattern to make tiny frog toys with my grandma

this is the first lil guy I made while still learning how i should sew it

AAA ok so a lot of people have been asking for the pattern to this, tho I’ve been using just these two little papers to do the cut outs lol

i tried my best to translate it into digital so that people get a bit more accurate look at them. Tho bear with me I’ve never done an actual pattern design sheet before!

so basically my hope is that anyone could print these out to any size of their choosing and get the same result, but ive never tried anything larger than approx. 3 inches with these sooo idk if you try it tag me!

the goal is to sew the backs together to the lines at the tip of the head to the middle of the butt. then leaving a space along the belly piece near the butt end and sewing from one side of the butt including all the legs and the “mouth” to the other side with its legs to get back to the butt. if that makes sense

i usually pause sewing up the body once the head is fully sewn together,, usually after ive sewn both arms and ill yank it inside out where ill start sewing on the little poofball eyes so i know theyre in a good place, then resuming the body, and then pulling the whole thing inside out and pushing out the tips of the limbs with a skinny blunt object like a dull pencil until i can see the stitches. if you attempt this piece definitely make sure you stitch up the arm and leg crevices very well!!!!

then just stuff the lad and sew up his back end and its done :)

one suggestion for fabric is always try to use a stretchy soft fleecy fabric with these because its much easier if mistakes are made during sewing and to hold the ROUND shape better

Overall its a very good use of scraps if you’ve accumulated a lot and don’t know what to do with them 👍👍

just remembered shows used to have 20-25 eps per season

The problem isn't so much that shows are shorter, it's that they can't choose how long they want to be to tell the story they have in mind.

I've seen plenty of shows that were 24-26 eps per season and absolutely had no idea what to do with that run time. I've seen 24 episode shows that should've been 12 episodes. Hell, I've seen 24 episode shows that should've been 6 episodes. One of my favorite shows of all time, Bomberman Jetters, is two 26 episode seasons. I love the core plot, but so many of the side episodes are notably worse to the point that you're really just sitting there waiting for the show to get good again, which wouldn't have been an issue if the show was two seasons of 13 episodes instead.

On the other hand, 12 episodes is plenty of time for any competent writer to explore an entire cast. That's four hours of time on the short end and ten to twelve hours on the longer Netflix-y end. However, if the writer is good and the cast is large, then 12 eps might not be enough because their world is too good, but nobody does 24 episode stories anymore for syndication.

Media would be a lot better in the age of digital streaming if stories were simply allowed to be however long they want to be. Why are they locked to specific ~22 minute time slots if the majority of media goes up online now, where half hour blocks aren't dictating your work? Why do you need any kind of set number of episodes when streaming services upload everything in bulk rather than week-by-week? What's wrong with having a 3 episode show or a 17 episode show? Nothing, really. That's just not the standard.

The issue isn't length. It's trying to fit every story into the same cookie cutter template, which cuts off longer stories and ruins shorter ones by overextending them.

guys i need you to be less comfortable making super negative comments abt a character in the tags of a random post abt that character. like i support haterism but make your own post. please stop and think about whether op, a person who is interested in this character enough to make posts abt them, wants to hear all that. i see this too much from people reblogging from me and it makes me embarrassed that you’re reblogging from me. you are being rude

i know nothing about youtuber whatsoever. every time someone talks about a popular youtuber it feels like theyre conjuring a dude from thin air. hearing about youtuber drama is like seeing everyone spontaneously pull a guy out of their hat and start beating him to death with hammers
