Hey everyone! If you saw my last post you’re aware that circumstances are pretty dire for me financially right now.

So I’m opening commissions! This retro anime screenshot style seems pretty well-liked so I’ll be trying to sell a few of these.

The base price will be $35 USD for one character, half-body with a simple anime-type background. Extra characters will be +$20 each, though this is negotiable. I am willing to be somewhat flexible, but I can only do so much because I need the money now more than ever.

Paypal only, please.

This blog can’t accept messages, so please contact me through messaging on my personal blog, @lawrence-oleander if you’re interested in buying and we can talk about details!

I can also be reached on Discord: Screech#4226 Feel free to add me if you’re interested in a commission!

Alec stared up at the fellow naga with bright green eyes full of curious awe, despite being woken up from a long nap by Rafe, squeaking quietly. The little one was safely curled up in a nest made from leaves, vines, and some spike on the outer side made from wood to protect him, likely made by a parent. Alec observed for a few seconds before squealing happily, holding his arms up which could show he wanted to be held

Avatar

Rafe stares down at the… *child* looking up at him. He didn’t see other Nagas often, much less one so young, and he scans around a moment for the parents. Nothing. He looks back at the child before coming to his decision and picking them up with a soft, shushing sort of hiss, holding them close while being careful of the thorns they were swaddled in. “Hello, young one, where are your parents?”He himself was left alone when he was little but he was hatched like that, Instinctually independent. This did not seem the case.

The toddler seemed giddy when picked up, putting chubby little hands on the adult naga’s face to explore “ Daddy Hwunting” He answers with a bit of a lisp, too distracted by Rafe at the moment, just acting from curiosity as he hand closed to grab Rafe’s nose

Rafe keeps his mouth shut to avoid the child hurting themselves on his teeth, but his eyes widen just a little in understanding. Hunting. The father would be back then. Rafe couldn’t risk it. He shouldn’t have picked up the young one in the first place. Hell, in these woods Rafe stuck out like a sore thumb. If the hatchling was anything to go by his father would be much less noticeable. He looks seriously at the child. “I am going to have to put you down, Little one. I’m sure your father will be eager to find you safe where he left you.” He goes to put the child back with only the smallest twinge of regret.

Alec giggled, not seeing why it was much of a deal that Rafe might get in trouble with his father, just raveling in the attention right now as he sorta awkwardly snuggled up to the adult.

He curiously listened to what Rafe was saying, pouting and clinging to his arm. He didn’t want down, he was to play “No! No!” He squeaks quietly, trying to hold onto the naga “No down, wanna stway up!”

Rafe had two options and one of these options was near suicidal to take. Of course, That option was also given by a child. A cute child. A cute child currently attached to his arm and refusing to let go. Curses.

Rafe sighs and brings the child back up to his chest. He always did have a weak spot for children.

“Do you have a name little one? I may have to use it when bargaining for my life later.” Rafe leans over them, metal-heavy hair swinging down to catch the light. He was resigned to everything being grabbed at this point.

Appalachian Folklore, Wives Tales, and Superstitions

Brought to you mostly by my grandparents, but also by my family at large. These are all things I heard growing up in the northern region of Appalachia and wanted to share with y'all. The lore and sayings may vary based on location, family tradition, and other factors, but this is just what I’m sharing from my experiences!

• Give the first pinch of a freshly baked loaf of bread to the Good Men to keep them happy. • Deaths and births always come in threes. • Spin around in a circle three times before you walk in the front door to confuse any spirits that are following you. • Don’t throw your hair out! If a bird builds a nest with it, you’ll have migraines. • “Red sky at night, sailor’s delight. Red sky at morning, sailor’s warning.” • If the leaves on trees are flipped over with their backsides showing, rain’s coming. • If you hear a dog howl at night, death is coming. • If you’re giving someone a wallet or purse as a present, put money in it to ensure they’ll never financially struggle. • Spirits can’t cross running water. • Cats and dogs won’t enter a room where spirits are present. • Carry an acorn in your pocket for good luck, a penny for prosperity, and a nail for protection. • If you’re having nightmares, put a Bible under your pillow. They’ll go away. • Take a spoonful of honey to keep your words sweet. • Keeping a pot of coffee on ensures a happy home. • It’s bad luck to walk over a grave. • A horseshoe hung above a door ensures good luck. • A horseshoe in the bedroom staves away nightmares. • If your right hand itches, you’ll soon be receiving money. If the left itches, you’ll be paying it. • Wishing on a star works. “Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight.” • When you have a random shiver, someone just walked over your grave. • If smoke from a fire rises, expect clear skies. If it rolls along the ground, expect storms. • Rosemary near the door provides protection. Lavender provides peace. • “A ring around the sun or moon, rain or snow is coming soon.” • Wind chimes and bells keep spirits away. • Seeing a cardinal means unexpected company. • For that matter, so does dropping silverware. • Rubbing a bit of potato on a wart helps it to go away. • If the soles of your feet itch, you will soon walk on strange grounds. • Black eyed peas, greens, and/or pork and sauerkraut should be eaten on New Year’s Day to welcome good luck and good fortune. • Driving a nail into a bedframe or crib will drive away curses. • If your ears are burning, someone’s talking about you. • If you dream of fish, you are or will soon be pregnant. • Listen to the wisdom of children, they see and know more than we think. • To dream of death means birth, to dream of birth means death. • To cure a headache, crush some mint leaves in your hands, cup them over your mouth and nose, and breathe in a few times. It should help. • Placing a fern or ivy on the front porch protects against curses. • In a vegetable garden, never plant the same plants in the same spot two years in a row. Rotate where they are, and you’ll save your soil. (Note: this is a real thing called crop rotation, and is actually kind of important) • A black bird (Raven or crow, doesn’t matter) on the roof or a windowsill is an omen for death. To avoid it, you have to scare it away without using your voice before it caws. • Say a prayer when you pass a coal mine for the lost souls still in the mine. • Thank the land and the Lord with every successful hunt or harvest you have, for nothing is guaranteed.

These are a few of the folklores, wives’ tales, superstitions, and sayings that I’ve heard growing up (and still living in) in Appalachia! I encourage other Appalachian witches, cunning folk, and general inhabitants of the Appalachian region (and just the mountain range at large) to share whatever bits you’ve heard over the years! I just wanted to share a bit with y'all to give you an insight into some Appalachian lore, my own practice, and maybe give you some things to research and incorporate into your own practice! 🌿✨

I’ve grown up with a lot of these

GoGigantic

If you keep up with gaming news, you have probably heard that Gigantic is closing its servers come July 31st, 2018. However, with that said, there is a chance that we can prevent this from happening! If we can increase the player base by a lot within the next 6 months, PWE might reconsider their decision!

What are the requirements?

If you’re going to play on PC (whether it’s through the Win10 store or Arc/Steam), your computer needs at least 6GB of usable RAM. You also need a decent computer with a decent graphics card, which is a go figure.

If you don’t have a PC but do have an Xbox One, then that would work too!

Why should I play?

The developers spent 6 years working on this game, putting all of their love and passion into it, creating a gorgeous, incredibly fun game! There are characters to fall in love with and friends to be made! If you’re worried about having to pay anything, don’t! The game is free-to-play, and as of the last patch, all of the heroes are free and their skins are available to be purchased with in-game currency!

I’m not really into PVP games.

That’s okay! There’s a bots mode as well as custom matches where, if you pair up with your friends (you need 10 peeps in total), you wouldn’t have to worry about more competitive play! You can goof off and get creative, even though the match does follow a particular flow!

Even if you aren’t hopeful or have your doubts, please come and join us! Everyone should at least be able to experience this amazing game, even if it’s only once!

If you are unable to play, that’s alright! If, at the very least, you can spread this around, whether it’s through social media or by reblogging, that would be greatly appreciated!

Missing a Ring and a Pair of Wings (Open RP)

*Wow.* Hostile wasn’t he? Couldn’t blame him. For that. She mimics his monotone, not quiiiite mocking him. “A limp usually alludes to a bigger problem, Bud. And yes. I am the one that crashed into you.” The monotone immediately snaps off with her next words as they whip out. “I’m sorry that I crashed into you but I didn’t see you and I was tired!” Angry gestures accompany the gesture, her objects seeming to click and rattle their agreement to her words.

It wasn’t that she had self control it was that the magic ring was fucking scary and it was seeming less appealing an object the longer she had to hold onto it. Seriously. What the fuck was this thing that he had seemed ready to kill her for it.

Still. She wasn’t a pushover.

“No.” He was rude. Didn’t even use manners. Not a please in sight. And after practically tackling her to the ground? Not even ‘practically’ literally tackling her to the ground. Her back was against the dirt and the only thing keeping him off her was her braced arms.

“You look like you would kill me if you did and I want to know what this thing is.”

Jordan walked up to the door with worry. Would he like the gift? Oh gods, oh gds, she hoped he did. She knew how cold it was up in the forests. Maybe.. well, one way to find out. Hiding the box behind her back, she gently knocks on the door. "Rafe?"

Avatar

Rafe was honestly having a hard time staying awake in the winter, despite keeping his house practically burning with heat. Still, when a knock comes at the door he pulls himself up and heads to the door, all the while berating himself for even answering. “I’m sorry I-“ He Immediately lights up when he sees who it is, his drowsy, grumpy expression turning into a wide, toothy grin. “Jordan!” He doesn’t even wait to hear why she’s hear before he pulls her inside, quickly closing the door. “Come in from there. It’s freezing.”

Avatar

“Ra-” Jordan began before being cut off as Rafe pulls her inside. Giggling, she shakes out some hair from her face and pulls off her jacket.

“You can’t exactly say you’re freezing when your house is smoking from heat.”

“Smoking is the way my house should be, my Shadow. Besides. It’s cold.” Oh of course. That’s why his house was turned up to 80. The cold. He grabs her hand before quickly letting go with a sound of distate, looking almost offended. “And you happen to be cold as well. Do you betray all those close to you in this way?” She Had been busy, and it seems like while she was gone he started to slip into his formal way of speaking again. “You feel like a popsicle in a blizzard.” Well, almost.

“News flash, Sun God, I never get cold. And if I do, then something is seriously wrong. Besides, I’m kind of always cold- skin wise- due to my abilities.” Jordan shrugged before smiling and rocking back and forth on her heels.

“I got you something, but you have to promise to not look until I tell you.” Feeling giddy, she lets a grin show on her face as the box gets tossed between her hands.

“I know, but I can dream Can I not?”

He raises an eyebrow at her enthusiasm, crossing his arms in a mockety of thought. “Hmm.. A promise not to look….” He seems to ponder over it, though he’s just teasing at this point, Letting her bubble up in excitement. “Well it’s obvious not fragile seeing how you’re tossing it around in the air…. fine.” He chuckles and closes his eyes, arms still crossed in front of him as he waits. “When should I open them?”

Excitedly, Jordan quickly opens the box and places the green cashmere sweater in Rafe’s hands. “I don’t think this is fragile but please do take care of it. Ok and open!” She exclaims before backing up a step.

He opens his eyes, grinning when he sees the sweater. It wasn’t what he usually wore admittedly, it was soft though, and reguardless of whether or not he produced the heat to make it warm it looked comfortable. “Thank you Jordan, it’s a wonderful gift.” He swoops forward to give her a kiss on her forhead, smiling when he pulls back. “I was worried about you. How has work been?”
