he steps closer as his hand is grabbed, smile lighting up his features as she guides his fingertips to the images and explains who is who. he wishes more than anything he could actually see what his daughter has drawn for him, but he’ll have to settle for feeling the raised pictures. unfortunately.  ❝ this is beautiful, ana, ❞ he encourages proudly, body leaning down so he can press his lips to the young girl’s head.  ❝ can i take this into work tomorrow and show gee? ❞ he asks gently. lord knows the man would want to see for himself. besides, he enjoys putting up ana’s artwork in his office. it keeps him motivated.

a chubby hand presses to her own cheek ,  baby girl all but beaming in delight at the praise . she likes to make things , and caroline had been a blessing in coming up with crafts that matt could appreciate to a certain extent , from salt dough sculptures to macaroni art to recording the songs that ana would make up for him to listen to later .  ❝  ya ! gee ! ❞ she bounces excitedly at the suggestion , though upon the squishy couch cushions , promptly falls onto her grey polka dot legging clad behind . even so , such a tumble elicits a burst of giggles .  ❝  oops ! ❞ she’s reaching for him , tiny fists opening and closing .  ❝ up ? ❞

❝ you got your o’s, huh? ❞ he can’t help but repeat with a faint chuckle at how serious she sounds and he’s more than willing to hear every detail about both them and her art. her art is always his favorite, however, considering the young girl keeps his disability in mind. it warms his heart immensely, the lawyer walking forward with a thanks to the babysitter as she makes her leave. he carries her to the living room, eager to ‘see’ what she’s managed to draw this time. so he sets her down, however reluctant he is to do so, so he can question his baby girl on the whereabouts of her drawing.  ❝ where’s the drawing at, baby? ❞

tiny head bobs in confirmation ; she’s seen her babysitter caroline do the same . ❝  uh huh ! ❞ use your words , ana . she forgets sometimes , as little ones do . it had taken time to accustom herself to communicating with him , but as far as toddler could surmise , he understood enough . she retrieves the paper and clambers up onto couch cushions , waving artwork in one hand whilst tiny fist grab at his palms , directing his attentions as best she knows how . ❝  i yellow . ❞ tugging fingers to the first raised image . ❝ you is red . ❞ proudly , as though color was indeed the most efficient way to sort them all .   ❝ and gee orange . ❞

he walks into his apartment as a sigh escapes him, one of relief that he’s finally home after a long day and finally able to see his daughter. she’s the first to greet him at the door, always is, babysitter in tow with a smile upon her face, but matt ignores her for the little girl running at him so excitedly. scooping her up into his arms, matt holds her close and presses a kiss to her cheek, the man practically grinning at her as he lifts his sunglasses from his face. even if he can’t see her.  ❝ how’s my baby girl? ❞ he asks with nothing short of joy in his tone.

tiny feet carry her forward the moment she hears the lock turning , current art project all but an afterthought as she toddles to meet him . giddy with delight as she’s scooped up , bubbly giggle emitted by three year old as chubby hands press to either side of her father’s stubbled cheeks whilst he looks at her . ❝  hi da ! ❞ ana all but beams , tendrils of inky hair falling from the milkmaid’s braid her babysitter has put her in . ❝  i had o’s today . ❞ she states , rather seriously , as though her choice in cereal was of great importance .  ❝  and i draw ! ❞

you know what trope pisses me off the most? when the protag is pointing a gun at somebody and they’re like “you won’t do it. you’re too good” and the person holding the gun is like oh shit i am and they slowly lower the gun while the other person laughs. WHAT THE FUCK. if i were there, and somebody told me “you won’t do it” i would immediately shoot them dead without hesitating. who are you to tell me what i wont do. musty bitch
