Was looking up the best British movies .....And Gods Own Country was on the list and like.....I watched that film for a movie party with my friends and....We didnt like it
I dunno I might be missing something but I feel you can do sad gay movies better
I legit dont get why its so acclaimed
I love sad gay movies. I watch more sad gay movies than might be healthy. It's not like I'm the wrong audience for such a film. But I didn't like it. Jarman, Araki, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Brokeback Mountain (which it feels like the film wants to be?), My Own Private Idaho, Lilies, and on and on... Is it just because the film has a happier ending amidst all the melancholy?
Its gotta be the happy ending ....But I dont think the film earns that ending @the-blue-fairie
I know how you feel. I agree.
PLEASE dont forget the incredibly racialised aspect of transmisogynistic murders and violence i am begging yall to not forget the incredibly racialised aspect of transmisogynistic muders and violence. the trans women being murdered are most often black women! they are often sex workers! the murder problem exists at an intersection of yes transphobia and misogyny, but also racism and classism! transmisogynoir is a violent killer! PLEASE im begging yall to not forget the racialised nature of transmisogynistic murders and violence!!!
in addition, black people, obviously, are the most likely to face police violence and false imprisonment. sex workers even more so. black women in general are a historically degendered class. black people are more likely to be impoverished. black people are more likely to be discriminated against in so many aspects of life. black people are the first to get hurt and black people are the last to get listened to. remember to fight for black trans women when you are fighting for trans women.

It looks like today is going to be a night of checking up with my friends to see which ones of them are now unemployed… Tumblr seems to have been hit hard
It looks like developers, both web and mobile, are the biggest group in the 280 people laid off
After publication, we began hearing more about which orgs were impacted from various sources. According to at least one source, just north of 100 were from WooCommerce. We’ve also heard Tumblr, Day One, and the AI orgs were impacted. In the U.S., layoffs spanned roles, including account execs, marketing, product (management and design), sales, community, business operations, and more. The default severance package is just 9 weeks.
It was only natural when the Fifth Spirit turned out to be a nudist.
After all, Elsa was a bridge between humanity and the magic of nature, and nudity linked her to both. It was the most simple, most earnest expression of her humanity. Every human being came into this world nude, with nothing to set one person above another, and every human body was beautiful - fat, thin, old and wrinkled, or young and smooth. Every body was marked by unique experience, and they were marks of beauty. It also emphasized that human beings were part of the natural world, not conquerors of it. In entering nature nude, Elsa came without weapons, without walls. And she felt closer to the spirits this way. The breeze tingling lightly on her buttocks reminded her of Gale’s playfulness. A cozy fire felt wondrous, warming her bare skin, and made her think of Bruni’s gifts. Skinny-dipping under the sun reminded her of water’s coolness and freshness, sustaining life with a steadiness mirrored in the majesty of the nokk. Sometimes, she just sat down upon a rock, and she felt the texture of the rock - felt its roughness or its smoothness - upon her buttocks. It made her feel closer to the earth.
More of my nudist!Elsa concept. Art by durdevul, commissioned by me and posted here with permission.
@snowqueenofmyheart, I think this will delight you.
THE PRINCE OF EGYPT 1998 | Directors: Brenda Chapman, Simon Wells, Steve Hickner
Since you refuse to free my people All through the land of Egypt I send a pestilence and plague Into your house, into your bed Into your streams, into your streets Into your drink, into your bread
Upon your cattle, on your sheep Upon your oxen in your field Into your dreams, into your sleep Until you break, until you yield

Disney’s Fantasia (1940)
John Boyega has once again spoken honestly about his experience in the Star Wars universe. In the Apple TV+ documentary Number One on the Call Sheet, he said Star Wars is “so white that a Black person existing in it was something.” His words reflect more than just his personal journey—they expose a long-standing discomfort within the franchise when it comes to Black characters in leading…
I am gonna do bullet points to highlight important things the article mentions.
•Talks about how Amandla Stenberg, lead of The Acolyte, addressed the hate she faced before the show even aired, calling it a “rampage of hyper-conservative bigotry.” In a show of support, Boyega commented on her Instagram post with a GIF of Han Solo, a symbolic gesture of solidarity during a painful moment.
• Mentions Moses Ingram faced similar racist abuse after her role in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Disney issued a statement defending her, but the damage was already done. Kelly Marie Tran was bullied so badly after The Last Jedi that she left social media altogether.
•Talks about The Acolyte: Despite solid performances and fresh storytelling, the series was canceled after just one season. Online, racist influencers celebrated its end, calling it a win against “wokeness.” YouTube videos mocked the cast. Elon Musk posted a cryptic message that many interpreted as support for the backlash. The hate was loud, coordinated, and encouraged by platforms that profit off outrage.
• Lastly it talks about the treatment of Boyega, Stenberg, Tran, and so many others shows that the industry still has far to go. Until major studios stand firmly behind their stars, the cycle of casting, backlash, and silence will continue. And fans like Boyega—who wanted to lead and inspire—will keep calling it out.
