so y’all are telling me, to my face, that fear wasn’t worth that dance performance award.....how many more years will seventeens choreography be slept on........I’m so tired

Selling your soul to the devil seemed easy enough. It’s not like you needed it anyways, it was always just sitting there, waiting to be useful, and for once it finally was.

You summoned him effortlessly. He showed up with that look on his face, the one you’ve learned to know meant he was expecting this, probably since you were born. “I want immortality.” You uttered, and just like that he granted it to you, with one condition, an eternity by his side.

You had to admit the devil was beautiful. He had let you on most of his secrets, including the name he had left behind centuries ago. “Minghao.” He said. “I haven’t used it since I got kicked out of heaven.”

Minghao was merciless, except when it came to you, you could only see mercy in those eyes as he leaned in to kiss you for the first time. He tasted like liquor, the really expensive one he had asked for at the club, and smoke, he always did smell like smoke.

He took you by the hand for an eternity, sitting in the throne room not as his lover but his equal. King and queen of hell, an eternity of wrecklessness and chaos right at your feet.

It was easy to sell your soul to the devil, it was even easier for Minghao to take it back. When he decided he didn’t need you, he implanted your decaying soul back in your body, which decayed alongside it. Your soul arrived in hell, right in front of the throne that used to be yours. “All those years…” he muttered “and you never learned anything.”

“So your king sent you to do the dirty work?” Minghao’s head popped out of the water, his tail splashing you every once in a while.

You dangled your feet at the edge of the water, your hands diggin harshly on the marvel floors. “He sent me to talk to you.”

“Because out of everyone in that kingdom you’re the one person I would make a treaty with.” Minghao rolled his eyes slightly, a smirk forming. You had to hold yourself back from spelling them stuck that way.

You leaned in closer to him, careful not to get close enough for him to drag you. “Because you owe me something.”

“I owe you giving me legs for a few days,” he looked over at his tail, the blues and greens popping under the sunlight. “this thing you want me to do, that’s slavery.”

“It’s an alliance Minghao.”

Minghao scoffed. “As if your people would know the first thing about an alliance.”

“I give you my word.” You knew you couldn’t promise something like that, you knew Soonyoung was as unpredictable as they came; but you needed the prince of the seas, your head depended on it. “No place is safe anymore, not even the ocean. We need each other.”

He thought about it for a little while, you could almost see the engines on his head working. His tail kept moving up and down, you were sure he was splashing you on purpose. “I’ll be needing legs then huh?”

You smiled. “Don’t worry about it, we have a more fitting plan for you and your people.”

Minghao was running out of places to look. He had been following your string for years only to find it never had an end, looking for you was something he did in auto pilot now, not expecting anything to come of it.

He had caught you trying to cut in once, when you still lived together, it was the first of many incidents; come to think about it that day was the last time your relationship felt normal. “You deserve better.” That was the only explanation you ever gave him, he never understood why you thought that.

You ran away shortly after, begging Minghao not to look for you, it was useless really. He had spent the good part of three years following the string tied to his pinky, hoping to reach the end soon.

He started doing it in auto pilot, not knowing he was doing it, but hoping for anything; maybe that’s why when he found you it took him some time to notice.

“I asked you not to look for me.” You told him as soon as he approached you. He didn’t know if he should feel relieved or angry, he felt everything at once, that’s what you did to him.

“I asked you not to leave.” You noticed how long his hair had gotten, it nearly covered his eyes at this point, it really had beed ages since you saw each other.

“I did it for you.” You couldn’t explain why, it rather you could never explain it to Minghao, it made perfect sense for you. He was too good, too sweet, how he ever got stuck with you was a mystery. “You don’t get it and you never will, but you deserve so much more…”

“No I dont.” Minghao interrupted, you had never seen him this anxious in his life “ I’ve been looking for you for three years, you’re not going to tell me what I deserve, I know what I deserve.”

“Minghao…” You knew he had been looking for you, subcontiosly you knew you let him find you. Every time you noticed the string getting shorter you moved, took a plane, or a train, ran as far as you could; this time you just stayed, you couldn’t quite explain why.

“Please come home, if you love me, please…” His voice broke and that’s probably all you needed to come back, just the sound of his voice was enough for you to give in.

“I will, I will.” You were crying, he was too. You grabbed his face softly, looking directly into his eyes. “Dont worry, you found me.”

You could barely remember him any more, his face fading along with the rest of the memories.

You remember a record store. You remember the way he smiled as he picked the perfect album. “This one…” he would say. “It’s revolutionary.” You didn’t know what that meant now, but whatever it was it sounded important.

You remember cherry coke and cherry lips. The way he used to kiss you between lies, his lips always too soft against yours. “Stay the night.” He would beg, and you would give in, every single time.

You remember a guitar and a series of chords you didn’t remember the sound of. You remember his feet moving along with the music. “This is what you would sound like if you were a melody.” You couldn’t remember if he was spot on.

You remember cigarettes and how it ended his life. You remember nights of arguing going no where. “Those will kill you.” You would say. “That’s the plan.” He would answer.

You remember the moments. The things, the smell. You forgot the face, the sounds, the tact. You kept forgetting until only one thing remained, the smell of cigarettes and one request; “stay the night.”

sometimes i realize that out of ALL my posts THIS is the one that has more notes and i severely question my existence
