If you had a female Rowan was the masked assassin female?

Yeah I was thinking this too and now that itโ€™s been confirmed that people with a female Rowan had a female assassinโ€ฆ

Yep, that confirmation was literally the only thing I was waiting for. The interactions definitely gave it away and I am super excited about this reveal.

@syfynjvall thank you!

The way the assassin was taunting our MC and almost playing with them was a huge give away!

Ok so tiny rant about why the Immortal Desires ending is one of the all time worst choices endings to absolutely no oneโ€™s surprise:

First thereโ€™s the plot ending:

Yes, this is the last scene of the book (unless you get the bonus scene). The book ends with MC randomly having been turned into a vampire, and if you buy every single talisman throughout the story, you get a bonus scene. In the bonus scene you find out MC was going to die, and that Cas and Gabe turned her without her consent while she was unconscious after never having discussed her being turned or her feelings on the matter before then. Then they didnโ€™t get the chance to tell her until she figured it out on her own. And then once MC figured it out sheโ€™s like โ€œcool, thanks for saving my life, no big on the vampire thing.โ€

Think Iโ€™m joking?

Thatโ€™s literally the line.

And this is where the whole book ends, so MC never gets upset, never talks to them about it, nothing. Sheโ€™s just totally cool with being turned into a vampire without her consent while she was unconscious.

Also, keep in mind, the entire explanation for why sheโ€™s suddenly a vampire is in the bonus scene, so unless you spend about 100 diamonds on all the talismans, you do not get this scene. The book just ends with MC suddenly becoming a vampire.

Then thereโ€™s the poly situation.

Throughout the entire book the romances are set up so that you can romance Cas, Gabe, or both of them together. And when I say together I donโ€™t mean u can pick both of their scenes and just decide in the end, I mean there are multiple diamond scenes throughout the book where u can pick a romance scene that includes both of them together. Itโ€™s one or the other or both of them together throughout the entire story.

For example, this is the final diamond choice:

You can choose them both together.

Now what, do you ask, happens in this scene where they all three confess their feelings to each other? Cas and Gabe confess their feelings to MC who says โ€œfor now I canโ€™t choose between you, I hope youโ€™re okay with that.โ€

AND THEY ARE. They both say โ€œyou canโ€™t choose right now and thatโ€™s fine.โ€

Think Iโ€™m joking?

The thing that makes me truly furious about this is that they spend the entire book focusing on the relationship these three develop together. They have diamond scenes together. They have romantic scenes together. And then in the end MC guiltily feels like she canโ€™t decide between them???

They not only set up a poly relationship and didnโ€™t follow it through, but they set up a poly relationship and then made MC feel guilty about wanting them both. If the entire book it had been framed as one or the other, I wouldnโ€™t be so mad, but the entire book it was framed as one or the other or both together.

So to conclude: itโ€™s a rushed ending plot wise, MC is turned against her consent and without her knowledge and is not only fine with it, but in fact grateful for the violation, and they spend an entire book purposefully setting up a poly relationship and then at the last minute force guilt on MC and make her choose.

So yeah, one of the worst choices endings Iโ€™ve ever read, and I read wolfbride.

I agree with all of this. It was such a let down.

But I did love this book as a whole. Each week I counted down the seconds to play each chapter. Loved how it was told. The ending doesnt take away all the amazing experiences of this book. This is a book I will replay many times. Just wish we got our sequel to tell the full story. This really was just part of what could have been.

My Immortal Desires thoughts. I have thought from the beginning, since they purposely didn't name the book lead, and I read the first chapters, that Immortal Desires was written by Luke and this comment seals it for me.

I think Luke prefers writing stand-alones. He did not want RoD to get a sequel, Open Heart was a whole mess, etc. So I think he wrote ID and that is why a sequel was never in the cards.

This is complete and utter speculation, but it's what I believe.

Again, this is 100% speculation. They have never told us who the book-lead of ID is (which is unusual). This is not confirmed, this is me theorizing.

I think you nailed it

So thatโ€™s it? Yโ€™all gonna end it on the best fucking part when the story has peaked and there is SO much room for a sequel?? Like mc having to hide their vampirism from their DOCTOR MOTHER?? Or what about a first hunt scene?! Like?????? Help me understand who at your office decided โ€œwelp thatโ€™s a wrap great job teamโ€

Exactly! My mind is blown!

Wait, wait, wait.

The woman who has not been in the twinsโ€™ life for multiple years now suddenly wants full custody because her (legally gray area ex spouse)โ€˜s fiancรฉe went to Vegas for her bachelorette party and had a lap dance from a stripper? As is a very common cliche Vegas bachelorette activity? The same fiancรฉe who previously helped raise the twins and was there when Addison wasnโ€™t?

Yeah, the judge will definitely clutch their pearls at that one. How dare MC go to Vegas for a lap dance? Oh no, what a monster! ๐Ÿ™„

This is exactly what I was thinking!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

i think i know where the new arcanum world isโ€”
selena is in the painting!

let me explainโ€”

The Imprisoned, the painting Liam and his dad treasures, is a painting of Selena. This was heavily implied, and especially so in Liam route. See the painting paralleling Selena's childhood here.

In season one, Liam, Lilith, Josephine, and Mary trap people's souls in paintings. Note that Liam is adamant that the process does not kill the victims (press F for Rob), and they "get to live forever in the paintings."

Season three being set in the painting (or other paintings, perhaps?) could nicely tie in the season one mystery. Liam's dad (as a ghost), owner of the painting, also alluded to souls this update:

Part of Liam's soul? Where? In Valle Deliria? Could season two (the dryads, the world, everything) all be in a painting?

Another interesting thing is that death in Arcanum is not eternal (and not a cause for sadness, as repeatedly stressed in s2ch4). Death is just a pathway to another world with another test. This would explain the "lives forever in the paintings" bit.

Does this answer what the setting is in season three? Not really. I really want it to be a western Alice if you're reading this please. But I think paintings are a major aspect of Arcanum that have been sidelined a bit in season two, and the Salisburys having a painting of Selena titled "The Imprisoned" is too on the nose to not be a deliberate choice.

Blew my mind! I think you nailed it!

Not since Foreign Affairs have I seen PB massively fuck up a book with so much potential this badly and wrote it into a major flop.

Princess Swap had so much potential and different avenues to explore throughout the first book and a potential second book.ย

But damn did PB shoot themselves in the foot when they decided to focus SO much on that dumbass sorority and equally dumbass antagonist named Stephanie. Iโ€™m sorry, but I donโ€™t think saving a sorority is equally comparable to stopping a 500 year old feud between two neighboring countries, but I guess saving a sorority is a bigger issue to PB.

And I mean no offense to those who love Devin. I do love his character and the whole sweet-homebody-down to earth personality, but compared to Clarkeโ€ฆPB just made him absolutely dry and flavorless. And you would think PB would give Clarke a little more since he had more in-depth characterization, but damn PB also wasted that too.

Iโ€™m not sad to see it go because man it got painful to get through in the end with all the sorority shit, but I am sad to see all the wasted potential it had thatโ€™s never going to see the light of day again.

I completely agree. Yes, Devin was sweet and supportive and wonderful. But there was no real challenge. I think most ppl like to work to get to know a LI. Fight a little for their love. Clarke wasn't easy. Made us want more! If they had an equally good LI for Rose, I think the book would have made more money. They slacked on Devin.

And unfortunately I saw ppl comment that they weren't spending diamonds on Devin and the sorority stuff so PB would know for book 2 that we want more clarke and royal stuff

I assume these same ppl don't understand how books get picked up for a 2nd book...lol

There could have been a second book if they wrote Devin with more depth. Plain and simple.
