Summary:
After months of working on his machine, it had finally gotten to its final form. Gears, pistons, pipes, and a holding its mechanical guts sat before him, shiny and gleaming like a coin in a wishing well. Kuwei pulled his goggles up onto his hair, matted with sweat, and singed from the hours he had spent welding it together. If his father had seen him, he would have ruffled his hair and found something clever to say about it. The first automobile he had ever made all by himself. Kuwei smiled, finally feeling the satisfaction that he deserved so well. An engine completely unique to him, and a carriage that could seat his whole four-person team. But there was one issue. Kuwei didn’t assemble a team.Kuwei sighed, regretting having ever opened the letter that invited him to a competition to create the first line of passenger automobiles. Who knew that he could have so easily misjudged himself by attending a few seminars on how automobiles and engines and how each little thing was so precisely clicked into its place. There were only a handful of people that would be crazed enough to want to be anywhere near this type of machine. And he knew of a few in Ketterdam that certainly wouldn’t mind the risk.
