Whenever I’m scared walking around my house I have three go to’s:

1. Bring a little Luffy along. Imagine having to rangle him away from your vulnerables and food.

2. Walking alongside triple threat trio Robin, Zoro, and Brook. See Brook is on the surface super scary but is actually goofy as hell, Zoro kinda seems goofy but is actually kinda scary and Robin both seems scary and is scary (their dynamic is also quite charming)

3. You’re walking alongside Usopp, Chopper, and Nami. I lied, I meant running. Sprinting between all the rooms and positively crying myself stupid with fear.

My 11-year-old couldn't decide what flavor of ramen to make, so I told her to flip a coin. Heads for spicy chicken, tails for beef.

Taking my advice, she flipped a penny, and when it landed on tails she said "Wait! Wait! I did it wrong!"

I told her that she did it right, because the real reason for flipping a coin isn't to let fate decide for you, but because when the coin is in the air, you will suddenly realize what you wanted in the first place.

I'm sure there's a life lesson there somewhere…

But honestly, I have never known her to pass up spicy chicken.

Update: Yesterday, her brother asked her if she wanted a corn dog and she couldn't decide, so again I told her to flip a coin. She did so, and without even looking which way it landed, she snatched the penny up and said "I want a corn dog".

My sister did this to me. I was dithering between sandwiches and she said “the club sandwich” and I went “no! The French dip!” and this advice also works on almost everything else. It’s scary.

For all that I love horror movies that put you in the protagonist's shoes and make you feel as though it could be you in this terrible situation and, by extension, force you to reckon with your own survival odds, there is something kind of magical about watching a horror movie and knowing with absolute confidence that you would have lived. Watching these people get their heads squished and whatnot like, "Wow, I would not have done any of that. My condolences."

they used to make smackable technology. you used to be able to hit your tv when it didn't work good.

when I was a kid I had an old tv in my room that would always turn to unwatchable static in the middle of shows but one night my sister and I were watching Naruto & every time Kakashi was on-screen the static cleared so we were like “hahaha the tv looooves Kakashi.”

I had a Kakashi bookmark so we held it up against the screen as a joke but the static actually cleared up. Mystified, we tried different bookmarks and objects with the same plastic material but nothing else worked, only the Kakashi bookmark.

We ended up taping it to the corner of the screen and it stayed there for 11 years until we moved out. When I was older people would be like “can you move the bookmark off the screen” bc it did sort of block a bit of the view but I would demonstrate the static issue and everyone was always just like “huh. what the hell?? well…alright.”
