it's so funny how graffiti is like a non issue that effortlessly reveals peoples' reactionary tendencies.

oh no shit fuck!! some local young punk gave my brick wall character!

large gatherings of humans are necessarily going to be messy, sprawling, and complicated. humans have been covering their worlds in art since literally time immemorial. there's a certain desire to create cities that are pristine and immaculately designed and maintained that I think I'd label fascist, if perhaps unwittingly, for the degree of control over human behavior that it quietly asks for.

thinking about how when you experience a lot of shame in your formative years (indirectly, directly, as abuse or just as an extant part of your environment) it becomes really difficult to be perceived by other people in general. the mere concept of someone watching me do anything, whether it's a totally normal activity or something unfamiliar of embarrassing, whether I'm working in an excel spreadsheet or being horny on main, it just makes my skin crawl and my brain turn to static because I cannot convince myself that it's okay to be seen and experienced. because to exist is to be ashamed and embarrassed of myself, whether I'm failing at something or not, because my instinctive reaction to anyone commenting on ANYTHING I'm doing is to crawl into a hole and die. it's such a bizarre and dehumanizing feeling to just not be able to exist without constantly thinking about how you are being Perceived. ceaseless watcher give me a god damn break.

saw a sign that said "honor aaron bushnell, free palestine" and man. why don't we honor the 40,000+ palestinians martyred in the last 200+ days. why don't we honor the palestinians who israel has maassacred in the last 75+ years. why don't we honor the palestinian villages wiped off the map. why don't we honor the entire lineages whom israel murdered. idk maybe yall need to think about why it took a white man self immolating for you to care about palestine!

like this is what i mean when i say y'all learned new information but didn't unlearn the bigotry and prejudice. why are you prioritizing one white man over a people who a colonist, imperialist state is ethnically cleansing? do you really need a white person to confirm that yes, this topic is actually something to care about?

i get the frustration, i really do, but the reason people talked about aaron is the same reason protestors use aarons name. its not that the person holding the signs a bigot, its that the society, the onlookers in an imperialist state care about their own military personnel a little bit more

ok and. lmfao? that's exactly what i'm mad about? all these so called leftists and communists in the west would rather listen to a white man in the military than the thousands of palestinians posting their most vulnerable moments online for the entire world to gawk at. bigotry isn't only calling people slurs, bigotry is also not unlearning the belief that if a white person and ONLY a white person supports a cause then it's a cause worthy of their time and money and efforts. "you get the frustration" no tf you don't since you're still defending white people idolizing him. grow up

white ppl think racism and imperialism just spring into existence from nothing like big bang style instead of being constantly reproduced and upheld by ... say it with me ... white ppl

you (white) need to take stock of how you and yours (family, friends, institutions, govt) are contributing to our oppression and stop it, like actually take direct action to stop it, instead of whining to us about how imperialism and racism are just so entrenched you can't do anything to change it. we know better than anyone how powerful those forces are, the difference between us and you (white) is that our actual survival, literal life or death, and the conditions of our lives and deaths, are at stake, so we have to fight. to sit in an empowered position (whiteness) and say that you can do nothing to change the power dynamic (white supremacy) is both pathetic and evil

34,000 deaths is clearly an appalling undercount when watchdog groups learn about mass graves like this every week.

[ ID: Tweet by Eman Abdelhadi, @/emanabdelhadi, which reads: "The children in the mass graves had their hands zip tied behind their backs.

The doctors in the mass graves had their hands zip tied behind their backs.

They were executed en masse, 300 of them.

300 people who people who lived, breathed, loved, laughed, mattered." /End ID ]

The discourse on terrorism is generally devoid of historical perspectives (ā€˜terrorists are pure evilā€™ is one popular trope) and lacks any positionality because, it is assumed, terrorists simply live outside of morality and social norms. But such ahistorical and essentialist attitudes came to haunt this discourse when a former terrorist, Nelson Mandela, became a Nobel Peace Prize winner, or, more recently, when Osama bin Laden, a former American ally, ā€˜turnedā€™ terrorist. The discourse on terrorism also does not account for state terrorism, whereby state institutions such as the army or police inflict violence on civilian populations, as was the case in Nicaragua and Chechnya (and by the US via the Contras). This last point is particularly missing from the discourse on the Palestinianā€“Israeli conflict. All attacks on Israelis, whether inside the 1967 border or outside, whether targeting soldiers or civilians, are dubbed terrorist attacks. But dropping a one-ton bomb from an Israeli airplane on a five-story Palestinian house, in which a militant may be present, knowing full well that dozens of civilians will be killed, is hardly ever described in Western media as terrorism.

i think atp liberal zionists need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. unlearn zionism. name israel for what it is or its relationship to palestinians, a colonial state. understand that netanyahu is not the problem but merely a symptom of the system that produced him. understand that a two state solution will not fully liberate palestinians. understand that ā€˜peaceā€™ is just a facade for the absence of justice and a continuation of israelā€™s colonialism and occupation. understand that the root of this ā€œconflictā€ is not the occupation but Israelā€™s existence. you donā€™t have to agree with palestinians on everything, even palestinians donā€™t agree with each other on everything but if you claim to be an ally, at least try to understand our perspectives. most importantly, stop being condescending towards palestinians and stop centering yourselves!

if you want to actually start to end homelessness, you need to give homeless people unconditional homes, including when we use them to do drugs or sit around drinking. either housing is unconditional or it isnā€™t

someone sitting at home alone, an active alcoholic, squandering your charity, drinking all day is better situation than a street homeless alcoholic. someone using drugs in your charity house is better than them doing the same w no shelter

most of you would not like most street homeless people, I definitely donā€™t and didnā€™t when I was street homeless. for every one person who uses unconditional shelter to turn themselves around, someone else will do jack shit and very slowly, if ever, work through the issues that made them homeless, will maybe never be able to live independently. still better than street homelessness, still worth doing. ultimately either you believe that shelter should be universal or you donā€™t

homeless people actually canā€™t be rehabilitated if you want to end homelessness. we either affirm the right to shelter for the worst drunken, lying, filthy, cheating, self destructive homeless people that exist, genuinely irredeemable wankers, or we concede that shelter is not a right

This post is the distilled essence of everything I believe in.

girlbulge is such a choice look i really wish it was more normalized

No offense to the droves of nsfw blogs reblogging this, but this was actually not meant to be a horny post. Let trans women exist in public spaces in their natural bodies without having to tuck or take other uncomfortable measures. I deserve to be able to wear tight clothes or go to the beach without having to be uncomfortable or in straight up pain from tucking just because some fragile cis people might think itā€™s some kind of perverted sexual display if thereā€™s any sign of a bulge. So again, girlbulge is a choice look and I really wish it was more normalized and not seen as something inherently sexual, because itā€™s literally just how our bodies look in certain clothes.

got my first terf shitstain in the notes throwing a tantrum about this which is part of why i think itā€™s so important to normalize it. people being driven to seething rage at the mere thought of having to see a little bump under someoneā€™s clothing is not fucking healthy! trans people deserve better than to be treated that way! i should be able to safely wear what i want without having to worry that my body is gonna send someone into a complete fucking rage!

I hate how the booktokification of the ā€œunhinged womanā€ genre has completely reduced the concept of female rage to just ā€œgirlbossā€ without taking seriously how important it is to unequivocally portray female rage.

Throughout the history of literature, weā€™ve been given countless instances of women in despair and in sadness but save for a few writers (take Euripides, for example), weā€™ve rarely ever been given angry women who arenā€™t the villains or the foil for the perfect poised passive princess. Female rage has constantly been subdued and erased or warped into ā€œsheā€™s just batshit crazyā€ in pretty much every society.

And now that publishing and media marketing has reduced women showing rage in books to the ā€œwhite hypersexual girlboss with a knifeā€, instead of uplifting the way women are allowed to have more dimension and sympathy in their visible anger than ever in literature, the media still isnā€™t taking this subgenre seriously.
