i’ve been working on Mitsuha’s hair tie/bracelet from Your Name! learning about kumihimo has been fun, but this style is a lot harder to do than the simple friendship bracelets i grew up doing. keeping the tension consistent between knots has been tough.

i used this vid as a tutorial!

Well it’s been over two years, but I finally finished this bracelet! (It didn’t actually take two years of work, I just put it aside to work on other projects).

I also learned that the pattern I used isn’t actually kumihimo, alas! It uses knots instead of braiding. Still, I really like how it turned out.

hey check it out i made something!!

i’m making a Vash cosplay for Dragon Con and really wanted to try my hand at this papercraft pattern i found. it was uploaded years ago with no instructions to be found, but i managed to cobble it together after finding another person’s extensive progress pics of the build.

still needs paint, but it was super fun to put together and i love any prop with moving parts.

yes you can!

some progress on this prop! before painting i did three layers of watered down wood glue, 1 layer of black gesso, then a base layer of black spray paint followed by silver. may have been overkill but i wanted to make sure the card stock would stand up to layers of paint without warping. after that it’s just weathering and detail!

before weathering (feat. Loki):

after weathering:

Nearly done! just needs some more detail work then it’s on to the holster.

I just want to say that your loki iron giant reference comic is amazing, the expressions, the angles, just perfection. It brings me so much joy, thank you for making it ❤

thanks so much!! much of the credit for posing/expressions has to go to the incredible film of course, but i’m glad that my parody made you smile 💖💖💖
