Hey Rob! I recently started following you and you’re really inspiring. I for the past couple weeks I’ve been getting back into fitness and eating healthier. I guess my question is, where do you begin? What’s an effective routine for beginners and how often should I do it? Protein or no protein? Thanks!
Hey!
I would first start thinking about what you want for your body and focus on that. For example, do you want to lose weight, do you want to gain muscle, do you want to tone your muscles? Once you figure that out, then you can figure out ways to manage getting to your goal.
If you want to lose weight, eating better and body weight exercises are a good place to start. Toning up and building muscle actually helps you burn more calories by improving your resting heart rate, which is what burns calories in a rested state.
I always go for protein and carbs. An amazing food for exercise is the potato! Not like fried, but I usually air fry my potatoes, so it’s like French fries. It helps maintain muscle and your replenish your glycogen storage, which gives you energy.
There are amazing videos on YouTube you could do to start out with, and if you want to add weight, I suggest getting a backpack and filling it with stuff to add weights to something like a squat or lunge. Body weight exercises utilize eccentric movements and gravity to help build your muscle!
Good luck!
