“We’ve been best friends our whole adult lives..” He explained, already shoving his shoes on with no regard for the state he’d left me in, “There’s no reason why we couldn’t go back to that.” He met my gaze, smiled softly, I wanted to cling to remnants of him-he’d made his decision. “This is for the best. I’ll call you every night, I promise.” The door slammed behind him all I could hear was the sound of wheels against marble as he exited the building.
