[5.23.17] today has been mainly uneventful. jasper woke me up this morning by barking outside my door, but it wasn’t until 9 am, so it wasn’t too bad. i got up and did my daily routine, cocoa bunnies and coffee for breakfast. later i went to the library, and to fresh market with my mum. we got salad mix for our dinner tonight. aside from that, i’ve been watching sims 4 youtube videos by one of my favorite youtubers, deligracy. tomorrow i leave for new york!

the first class I enrolled in was 1st year Astronomy- I had no choice but to take down notes because there were quizzes about the lesson (no matter what it said) right after!! i color coded this class with purple.

It’s been a while since I’ve made a post, and I figured that these tips might be extra helpful with exam season approaching. As someone who struggles a lot with procrastination, I do everything I can to fight the urge to put assignments off until the last minute (even though I’m not always successful).

As always, good luck! (ᵔᴥᵔ)

Getting Ready for University!

here’s my first post giving some advice!! so semester one of university starts in a few weeks here in Australia, so I thought I’d make a little post on how to prepare for your first year of uni!! When I started uni I had no idea what to expect so I thought maybe this would help some of you!

Before Semester Starts:

  1. Familiarise yourself with your subjects: Course outlines usually become available a couple weeks before semester starts, but you can usually also find previous years’ outlines (they don’t usually change much from year to year, unless the course structure changes dramatically). This is a good way to get an idea of what topics you’ll cover, what kind of assessments the course has, and how much work you’ll be expected to do.
  2. Stationery & supplies: Try figure out how you’ll be taking notes at uni. Will you use your laptop or tablet? Or handwrite? Either way, make sure you have the necessary materials!
  3. Find your textbooks: My university posts textbook lists online a couple of weeks before the start of semester. Find your textbook list to get an idea of how much they cost, and to also shop around to see if you can find your books any cheaper. I tend to purchase most of mine from the secondhand bookstore on campus to save myself some $$$. You don’t have to buy your textbooks straight away though - its a good idea to wait till your first class so you can confirm if the textbook is 100% necessary for the course
  4. Familiarise yourself with your campus: Get an idea of where the main buildings are, where your faculty building and student centre are, as well as the locations of the library and places to eat. Orientation day/week is usually a good idea to do all this!
  5. Attend orientation day/week: This is a great way to meet other new students, as well as also join some societies! And, as mentioned before, its a good opportunity to familiarise yourself with your new university

When Semester Starts:

  1. Establish a routine: Spend the first few weeks establishing a routine and create good study habits! It’ll be up to you to have good time management!
  2. Keep on top of your work: it is really easy to forget to do homework for a subject, or to just fall behind. To avoid this, make to do lists and have a planner to keep track of what is due when
  3. Meet new people: Try to speak to at least one person in every class and get their number or add them on Facebook! It’ll be beneficial for when you have group projects, or just when you need a hand with an assignment
  4. Don’t stress: University is meant to be much more fun than high school and while it can get a bit hectic, take a moment to chill out, relax and take care of yourself!!

That’s all for now, hopefully this was somewhat helpful!! Good luck to everyone, if you have any questions, feel free to message me!!

5.19.2017 11:10 PM: Two exams, Biology and Math, finished, and I have the weekend to study! Also, I gave in and decided to start a bujo! It’ll keep me productive (hopefully) ove summertime and give me a nice, organized start to the year for Senior year of high school! I’ve been deliberating over starting one since I found studyblr because premade planners don’t allow enough space for the many things I have to do each day, and it’ll let me be creative in little ways without ruining my notes by doodling crazily.

You’ll notice I named it Chrysanthemum. It’s technically Red Chrysanthemum, as insinuated by the cover and the color scheme of the time. I chose the name because I love flowers and flower language. Chrysanthemums mean hope, loyalty, and love, and red in particular indicate romance and passion. I want this bujo to help me grow in my study habits and also remind me that as much as I love and care (almost too much) for everything I do and all my relationships, self-love is important too. It’ll also (hopefully) remind me that there is hope in the dark days of my mental illness. Even if it isn’t always aesthetic, I’m going to power through bad spreads and overcome perfectionism with it. I hope you guys like it! It’s about 240 pages but because of bleed I will probably use 120, which is enough for 2 page weekly spreads plus a few more pages~ Once it’s done, I will get another one if I think I can do it in college too.

19 (F). What’s your daily routine?

It’s pretty variable these days, but goes something like this:

  • Wake up, spend 15 minutes trying to acclimate
  • 15-25 min Shower because I have short hair (or skip if I took one the day before and I need to sleep in)
  • Dress
  • Eat
  • Make my lunch
  • Make a giant thermos of tea to bring to school
  • Go to school, if no school then stay home and study/relax/do chores
  • Come home from school, relax, then get to work until dinner
  • After dinner, back to work
  • Bed anytime between 10 and 2

This summer I’m going to try not to go to bed too late each night because resetting my body clock is not fun, but I tend to be more lenient. And I’m going to Spain, so talk about melatonin problems, haha. I’m also gonna try to be more productive this summer than last.
