#Review: Reluctantly Royal (The Royal Series Book 3) by Nichole Chase

Author: Nichole Chase Published: August 2014

Heroine: Meredith Thysmer Man-Candy: Maxwell Trevor aka Broody Prince

My Review:

This is the third and final installment of the Royal Series, with Prince Maxwell finally getting his own book.

I was excited to start this book because the way he was described in other books kind of made me think that he was the Boo Radley of the royal family.

I assure you, he is not. Or at least he’s a sexy, smart, interesting Boo Radley.

Meredith, our heroine, has a terrible drunk of a father and an adorable son Marty. She is a protective mama bear over her son, which was lovely. It’s nice to read a love story that has complications and obstacles that could occur in real life (minus the royalty bit).

Meredith is on her own journey to find herself and to find her place in the world with her son Marty. Prince Maxwell also is stepping into his own as a person and as a royal.

The characters are great and this was a nice way to round out the series.

You’ll love this book if:

  • You love a strong female lead!
  • A broody, yet gallant prince
  • A made up country that sounds like a perfect place to live

Book Description:

Maxwell Jameson Trevor, prince of Lilaria, hates his royal role. Despising the limelight, he takes solace in his art studio and steers clear of any drama. But when one of the newly discovered royals passes away, Maxwell's brother Alex asks him to break the news to the old man's granddaughter. Though he hates to be the bearer of doom and gloom, he doesn't want the poor girl to find out from the tabloids. For Maxwell knows all too well how devastating that could be.

Coming from a broken home and modest background, newly ordained Lady Meredith Thysmer has seized her chance to make a better life for herself and her son. She's not afraid to use her best assets to get what she wants. But when the unpretentious yet devastatingly handsome Max delivers his news, her plans for the future come crashing to a halt. In the challenging days ahead, Max's compassion, humor, and steadfast loyalty to Meredith and her son win her over. She quickly finds herself doing something she swore would never happen again: falling in love. And yet Maxwell still refuses to completely drop his guard. Somehow Meredith's got to find a way to seduce this reluctant royal.

#Review: Anything You Can Do by R.S Grey

Image

Author: R.S Grey Published: Feb 2, 2017

Heroine (I guess): Daisy Man-Candy: Lucas Thatcher aka Hunky doctor

 My Review:

Ohhh boy. The main character in this book, Daisy, is exasperating. She is 100% focused on her rivalry with Lucas Thatcher, the boy next door.

They’ve been “rivals” since they were children.

Now, they’ve both gone to medical school and come back to their small town, wanting to take over the family practice.

Daisy has spent 10 years having a grudge, that turns out (SPOILER ALERT) was all in her head. She’s petty, childish, and over all kind of a miserable git.

Reading this book from her point of view was almost impossible. It was obvious she was completely out of her mind and had made up the entire rivalry. Maybe she should seek a therapist instead of a relationship?

I’m not saying Lucas was an angel. Far from it. It was a great insight when we get to switch over to his POV for a chapter or two.

Overall, Daisy’s overwhelming pettiness and borderline obsessive personality made reading this book a chore.

You’ll love this book if:

  • STRONG female lead
  • Falling in love with the boy next door
  • Sexy medical office scenes

Book Description:

Lucas Thatcher has always been my enemy. It’s been a decade since I’ve seen him, but our years on opposite coasts were less of a lasting peace and more of a temporary cease-fire. Now that we’re both back in our small town, I know Lucas expects the same old war, but I’ve changed since high school—and from the looks of it, so has he. The arrogant boy who was my teenage rival is now a chiseled doctor armed with intimidating good looks. He is Lucas Thatcher 2.0, the new and improved version I’ll be competing with in the workplace instead of the schoolyard. I’m not worried; I’m a doctor now too, board-certified and sexy in a white coat. It almost feels like winning will be too easy—until Lucas unveils a tactic neither of us has ever used before: sexual warfare. The day he pushes me up against the wall and presses his lips to mine, I can’t help but wonder if he’s filling me with passion or poison. Every fleeting touch is perfect torture. With every stolen kiss, my walls crumble a little more. After all this time, Lucas knows exactly how to strip me of my defenses, but I’m in no hurry to surrender. Knowing thy enemy has never felt so good.

Down London Road (On Dublin Street Book 2) by: Samantha Young

Author: Samantha Young Published: May 7, 2013

Heroine: Johanna Walker Man-Candy: Cameron MacCabe aka Emotional White Knight

My Review:

Johanna is a little off her rocker, as it seems are all of the women in Samantha’s books. But you know what they say about characters are a mirror to the self.

But Johanna is killing it. Taking care of business like a boss. Then stupid man-candy has to come in and mess it all up and I think wrongly accuse her of only dating men for their money.

Cameron, don’t worry ladies, he cares. We, as women, can date whomever we want. Take your judgmental BS and go on home.

But Cameron’s piss-poor attitude and accusations make Johanna think about her life and fall into his arms after he conveniently moves into the flat downstairs.

Cameron repents for being a total judgy dick and provides some safety and security for Johanna away from her abusive family.

Despite Jo’s annoyingly low self esteem issues and her insistence should couldn’t be anything but a bartender and a secretary despite being a savant at interior design, this book is great.

It made me feel like I could be doing better but I probably won’t until I have a super hot man moving into the flat below me to give me the extra motivation I need to get it together.

You’ll love this book if:

  • Intense family drama
  • Strong female lead who doesn’t take any BS from ANYONE.
  • Scotland!

Book Description:

Johanna Walker is used to taking charge. But she’s about to meet someone who will make her lose control....

It has always been up to Johanna to care for her family, particularly her younger brother, Cole. With an absent father and a useless mother, she’s been making decisions based on what’s best for Cole for as long as she can remember. She even determines what men to date by how much they can provide for her brother and her, not on whatever sparks may—or may not—fly. But with Cameron MacCabe, the attraction is undeniable. The sexy new bartender at work gives her butterflies every time she looks at him. And for once, Jo is tempted to put her needs first. Cam is just as obsessed with getting to know Jo, but her walls are too solid to let him get close enough to even try. Then Cam moves into the flat below Jo’s, and their blistering connection becomes impossible to ignore. Especially since Cam is determined to uncover all of Jo’s secrets…even if it means taking apart her defenses piece by piece.

Castle Hill: a Joss and Braden Novella (On Dublin Street) by: Samantha Young

Author: Samantha Young Published: December 3, 2013

Heroine: Jocelyn Butler (Joss) Man-Candy: Braden Carmichael aka Breaker of Emotional Walls

My Review:

Definitely wanted a follow-up to the Braden and Joss story and didn’t realize there was one until a month ago!

My bad!

So Joss and Braden’s story continues with snippets from their engagement, wedding, honeymoon and the start of their life as newlyweds.

More steamy sex scenes, more sizzling romance, pretty much everything you could ask for.

But then Joss becomes pregnant. She has a small freakout because of her past and whether or not she will be a good parent. Braden sees her mid-freakout and has a meltdown of his own because all he’s ever wanted was to be a dad.

After all this time of Braden being understanding of all Joss’s quirks and past trauma, he all of a sudden isn’t supportive of her freakout?

Doesn’t seem like him. Literally everything they’ve encountered as a couple has had a pattern of Joss freaking out and then warming up to the idea. Why wouldn’t this be any different? Plus, being pregnant is a BIG deal.

There were a lot of big emotions flying around and a lot of rash things were said. Even though Braden’s outburst was completely out of line, our dynamic duo make up with the passion that’s uniquely them.

You’ll like this book if:

  • You love Joss and Braden
  • Scotland!
  • A happy ending

Book Description:

In the New York Times bestselling novel On Dublin Street, Joss and Braden fought for their happily ever after. Now, in a romantic new novella, they’ll discover what comes after the happy ending… Braden Carmichael never imagined he’d fall as hard and as fast as he did for Jocelyn Butler. He also could not have anticipated how difficult it would be to convince her to give in to love. But now that he has her, he’s never letting go. He’s got it all planned—the passionate proposal, the dream wedding, the sexy Hawaiian honeymoon—even the perfect family they’ll start. After trying to flee from her painful past, Joss is finally allowing herself to embrace the future. But when things start moving faster than she anticipated, she finds herself panicking over something Braden can’t understand. After everything they’ve been through, Joss is sure that their love can survive even her worst fears. But, this time, she may push Braden too far—and risk losing everything all over again…

Author: Samantha Young Published: October 2012

Heroine: Jocelyn Butler (Joss) Man-Candy: Braden Carmichael aka Breaker of Emotional Walls

My Review:

This was one of the first romance novels I ever read and I instantly was in love with it.

Joss is an American, trying to outrun her tragic past in Scotland where she lives and works as a bartender.

Braden is a Scotsman, who always gets what he wants. And he wants Jocelyn. Mostly because she doesn’t want him. Or want a relationship with him.

From the moment they meet, there is an undeniable appeal between them. Their intense chemistry sizzles off the page and I couldn’t get enough of it.

Then Braden proposes a no strings attached relationship. What could go wrong? Who could get hurt? All sex, no relationship?

Let’s see how it plays out, shall we?

But I’m going to tell you, because you should read it if you haven’t already. And why haven’t you? Go now,

You’ll like this book if:

  • You like strong, independent female leads
  • Strong, stubborn, doesn’t give up lead male
  • Men with accents
  • Scotland!

Book Description:

Jocelyn Butler has been hiding from her past for years. But all her secrets are about to be laid bare…

Four years ago, Jocelyn left her tragic past behind in the States and started over in Scotland, burying her grief, ignoring her demons, and forging ahead without attachments. Her solitary life is working well—until she moves into a new apartment on Dublin Street where she meets a man who shakes her carefully guarded world to its core.

Braden Carmichael is used to getting what he wants, and he’s determined to get Jocelyn into his bed. Knowing how skittish she is about entering a relationship, Braden proposes an arrangement that will satisfy their intense attraction without any strings attached.

But after an intrigued Jocelyn accepts, she realizes that Braden won’t be satisfied with just mind-blowing passion. The stubborn Scotsman is intent on truly knowing her… down to the very soul.

#Review: Damnable Grace (Hades Hangmen Book 5) by Tillie Cole

Image

Author: Tillie Cole Published: April 16, 2017

Heroine: Phebe Man-Candy: AK aka sniper with a heart of gold

My Review:

This book is one of the grittiest yet. Phebe has been taken by the white supremacists and is forced into an existence that is way worse than a cult.

Like with all the books, you never get used to the violence and the dark themes.

AK and Phebe are damaged in the same way. Both experienced a lot of loss in their lives. Mostly in the loss of family members.

AK ends up saving Phebe and helps rehabilitate her, getting her off drugs and booze. Again, with all these characters, everyone needs serious therapy.

But the way that both Phebe and AK help each other through their demons, is admirable. Even though it may not be that feasible.

They’re two of my favorite characters so far. Their understanding of each other seems the most realistic and the deepest.

You’ll like this book if:

  • Dark, dark, DARK fantasy romantic novels
  • Overcoming all the odds love.
  • One of a kind characters made only for each other.

Book Description:

EVEN THE BROKEN, THROUGH LOVE, CAN FIND GRACE... Secrets never stay hidden. The burden of guilt never lifts from the heart. Born and raised in The Order of David, Sister Phebe knows nothing but cult life. Head of the Sacred Sisters of New Zion, Phebe was groomed from childhood for one purpose: to seduce. Prized as a harlot, as a New Zion whore, Phebe is taken from the doomed cult by Meister, the notorious leader of the Aryan Brotherhood. Taken as his possession. Taken to be the woman who will obey his every sexual demand. Under his heavy hand, Phebe finds herself in a place much worse than she could ever have imagined... with absolutely no one to help. And no glimpse of hope. Xavier ‘AK’ Deyes is content with his life as Sergeant-At-Arms of the Hades Hangmen. Leader of the infamous ‘Psycho Trio’ and ex-special ops sniper, AK knows how to fight. Experienced in warfare and schooled in military operations, AK is vital to the Hangmen. When his Vice President needs help retrieving his missing sister-in-law, Phebe, from a Klan-funded trafficking ring, AK volunteers to go in. AK remembers the red-head from New Zion. Remembers everything about her from the single time they met—her red hair, blue eyes and freckled face. But when he finds her, heavily drugged and under Meister’s control, her sorry condition causes him to remember more than the beautiful woman he once tied to a tree. Saving Phebe forces hidden demons from his past to return. A past he can never move on from, no matter how hard he tries. As AK fights to help Phebe, and in turn she strives to help him, they realize their secret sins will never leave them alone. Kindred broken souls, they realize the only way they can be rid of their ghosts is to face them together and try to find peace. Despair soon turns to hope, and damaged hearts soon start to heal. But when their deep, painful scars resurface, becoming too much to bear, the time comes when they must make a heavy choice: stay forever damned; or together, find grace.

#Review: Deep Redemption (Hades Hangmen Book 4) by Tillie Cole

Image

Author: Tillie Cole Published: July 10, 2016

Heroine: Harmony/Bella Man-Candy: Cain/Rider aka Cult leader hottie

My Review:

Well, here we are in Book 4 and things are going tits up for Rider/Cain/Prophet extraordinaire.

Not that he doesn’t deserve it. He does. He’s been a real big dick, these past few books. But does he find redemption?

The real question is: does he even want it?

As Rider sits in a cell, a Cursed Woman of Eve is put in the cell next to him. They strike up more than a friendship and in less than a week, they are sharing a cell and a bed.

Bella and Rider are resigned to their not great fates, which is what brings them together. Can they escape the horrible cult?

More importantly, can they survive what comes after? The Hangmen are furious at Rider’s betrayal and want blood.

Even though Bella and Rider are still fucked up, this book is somewhat a reprieve from the dark DARKNESS of the other books. But where this is less about sexual assault, it makes up in extreme violence.

But I think they’re my favorite characters so far. Still fucked up but not AS fucked up. Is that a thing? After reading 4 of these bad boys, it definitely is.

Not for the light of heart. You’ve been warned. Again.

You’ll like this book if:

  • Dark, dark, DARK fantasy romantic novels
  • Cult leaders and feisty females
  • Redeemed sinners

Book Description:

ONLY THROUGH BLOOD CAN THE DEEPEST REDEMPTION BE FOUND… He was born to ascend. He was destined to lead. He was never meant to fail. Prophet Cain lies broken and defeated on the floor of his cell. A cell he has been thrown into by the one person who was supposed to stand by his side until the end. His flesh and blood, his only companion. His beloved twin brother. Cain has sacrificed everything for his people. He left the safety and security of his life of study to infiltrate the infamous Hades Hangmen. He lived with them, rode with them, and then betrayed them. All in the name of a faith he can now feel slipping away from him. Like everything else he once held dear… But then his isolation is broken. Another prisoner is brought to the cell next to his. A woman fighting her own demons and fears. A woman who Cain understands needs him, as he needs her. As the connection between them grows, so does Cain’s resolve. He will right the wrongs he has done. He will atone for the evil acts carried out in his name. He will save the one he loves… … Even if the battle takes him to the gates of hell itself.

Title: Souls Unfractured (Hades Hangmen Book3) Author: Tillie Cole Published: August 9, 2015 Heroine: Maddie Man-Candy: Flame aka real messed up past but devoted knight in shining armor

My Review:

Back for #darkfantasy number 3. And it’s the most twisted yet. Both Maddie and Flame have pasts that should make them damaged beyond repair… except for each other?

Both come from pasts with extreme religious beliefs. And both were tortured for years.

And together they work through their pain. In a very romance novel way. Instead of years of therapy, it takes only days for Maddie to break through not only her traumatic past but also Flame’s.

All these characters break my heart with their background and I’m so glad they’re able to find love and solace in one another. This is a true dark fantasy with a happy ending.

You’ll like this book if:

  • Dark, dark, DARK fantasy romantic novels
  • Overcoming all the odds love.
  • One of a kind characters made only for each other.

Book Description:

"For fractured souls are like magnets. Drawn to collide into an impossible bliss…" Labeled a ‘Cursed’ woman of Eve from birth, Maddie has endured nothing but pain and repression at the hands of The Order’s most abusive elder, Moses. Now living with her sister in The Hangmen’s secluded compound, finally, Maddie, is free. Free from the suffocating faith she no longer believes in. Free from endless years of physical and mental torment. Just… free… At age twenty-one, the timid and shy Maddie is content to live within the confines of her new home—safe from the outside world, safe from harm and, strangely, protected by the Hangmen’s most volatile member; the heavily pierced and tattooed, Flame. Flame. The man who ceaselessly watches over her with his midnight dark and searing eyes. The man who protects her with a breath-taking intensity. And the man who stirs something deep within her numbed heart. But when circumstances conspire for Flame to need HER help, Maddie bravely risks it all for the broken man who has captivated her fragile soul. The Hangmen’s most infamous member, Flame, is ruled by one thing—anger. Plagued by haunting demons from his past, an all-consuming rage, and isolated by an abhorrent hatred of being touched, Flame's days are filled with suffocating darkness, pierced only by a single ray of light—Maddie. The shy, beautiful woman he cannot purge from his thoughts. The woman he has an overwhelming need to possess… ... the only person who has ever been able to touch him. Flame’s mission in life is to protect Maddie, to keep her safe. Until a trigger from his troubled past sends him spiraling into madness, trapping him in the deepest recesses of his disturbed mind. His Hangmen brothers fear that Flame is beyond saving. His only hope of salvation: Maddie and her healing light.

#REVIEW: Heart Recaptured (Hades Hangmen Book 2) by: Tillie Cole

image

Author: Tillie Cole Published: December 13, 2014

Heroine: Delilah Man-Candy: Kyler “Ky” Willis aka Man-Whore turned hero

My Review:

I’m back for Book 2. A little scared but more titillated.

I’m not sure this book really falls into the category of romance novel… but two people DO fall in love so who am I to judge?

So, here we go. Delilah was one of the sisters from the cult. She was so beautiful that she was considered spawn of the devil because grown ass men couldn’t keep their dicks in their pants around her.

Delilah is saved from the cult by the Hangmen Biker gang against her will along with her two other sisters Mae (from Book 1) and Maddie (Book 3).

Delilah and Ky spend a lot of the book trying to un-brainwash her from her Jesus loving ways. Which is kind of beautiful but also incredibly sad.

As per usual, a lot of hijinks go down and I’m still finding myself screaming in my head, will someone PLEASE find these women therapists? I’m not sure being with dudes who were brought up in a biker gang and who were also abused by their parents/elders are the right people to be teaching these women about the world.

But then again, if these women had found themselves in a bar full of therapists, we wouldn’t have an interesting book, would we?

There are a lot of intense (rape and violence) scenes in this book so it is not for the faint of heart!

You’ll like this book if:

  • You like a good story about a super creepy cult
  • Dark fantasy love story
  • Frustratingly stubborn women who are very into Jesus and salvation

Book Description:

Even salvation can be delivered through the love of the damned… Beauty can be a curse. Faith can be a cage. Only love can set you free. A few long weeks after being reluctantly ripped from the comforting embrace of her sacred prophet’s religious commune—the only life she has ever known—a terrified Delilah is thrust into a world enveloped by evil and swimming in sin. Steadfastly devout in her faith, and retaining the deep belief that her soul is innately tarnished as a branded ‘Cursed woman of Eve’, Delilah is determined to find her way home to her people in The Order and away from the corrupt and damned outlaw motorcycle club—The Hades Hangmen—who hold her at their secluded compound for her protection—a 'protection' she strongly resents. Delilah yearns to return home, convinced that only amongst her own people, and under the holy guidance of the Lord’s revealed prophet, can her Satan-spawned soul be truly saved. Conditioned her entire life to believe she is a witch... a life-long temptress… the devil’s whore... Delilah increasingly resents her beautiful face, her shapely body and her sensuous effect on men. But when a man of the motorcycle club—a deeply sinful yet stunningly beautiful man—is charged with her care, Delilah begins to see that this dangerous and moralless sinner from the 'outside' may offer her something she did not know could truly exist: unconditional love. Kyler ‘Ky’ Willis loves his life: a daily abundance of brotherhood, liquor, the freedom of the open-road and—best of all—his pick of hot women. Raised a biker brat and now VP of the most notorious MC in the States, Ky has no shortage of club sluts warming his bed; a situation he takes full advantage of… until a certain blonde enters his life… a gorgeous pilgrim-blonde he can’t get out of his head… a pilgrim-blonde he and his club recently-rescued from some backward religious cult… and a pilgrim-blonde he’s been ordered to keep the hell away from and his whorish hands off. When yet another in a lengthy line of drunken blunders forces Ky to reluctantly take charge of the pilgrim-blonde’s care, he realizes that there could be more to this woman than just supermodel looks and a stacked set of tits. He begins to see that she could be the woman who could do the impossible—tame his wild ways and capture his reluctant heart. But the unyielding bonds of Lilah’s past are strong, her ‘people’ determined and, with a new Prophet in charge and hell bent on revenge, they are mightily reluctant to let her go...

#Review: It’s Ain’t Me, Babe (Hades Hangmen Book 1) by Tillie Cole

Image

Author: Tillie Cole Published: April 26, 2014

Heroine: Salome/Mae Man-Candy: River “Styx” Nash aka Knight in Shining Armor on a stead (or in this case, motorcycle)

My Review:

Whoa. Guys. This book is uncomfortable.

Taboo subjects indeed. This book is full of them. Our heroine has some sort of Stockholm Syndrome, trading a cult compound for a biker bar. From a child bride of a prophet to an “old lady” of a leader of a biker gang.

Hijinks ensue. As you can imagine. Unbelievably so.

However, I enjoyed it. It’s a good read, despite the overwhelming topics. You’ll read it and scream in your head at this poor, abused woman to just PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, see a therapist.

Our heroine Salome/Mae escapes a cult and lands herself in the middle of a bad to the bone bike club. The Prez, and our Man-Candy, Styx, is the leader of the gang and has a 15 year old connection with Mae.

The book weaves a story of Mae trying to find her place outside a cult and Styx trying to come to terms with emotions versus just using his fists.

This story has a lot of graphic, intense scenes and not in the sexy good times way. But scenes that will make your skin crawl and wish fictional people dead.

So, proceed at your own risk. You’ve been warned.

You’ll love this if:

You love impossible fairy tale endings Difficult and dark characters Love conquers all but in a dark fantasy way

Book Description:

Sinning never felt so good… A fortuitous encounter. A meeting that should never have happened. Many years ago, two children from completely different worlds forged a connection, a fateful connection, an unbreakable bond that would change their lives forever… Salome knows only one way to live—under Prophet David’s rule. In the commune she calls home, Salome knows nothing of life beyond her strict faith, nor of life beyond the Fence—the fence that cages her, keeps her trapped in an endless cycle of misery. A life she believes she is destined to always lead, until a horrific event sets her free. Fleeing the absolute safety of all she has ever known, Salome is thrust into the world outside, a frightening world full of uncertainty and sin; into the protective arms of a person she believed she would never see again. River ‘Styx’ Nash knows one thing for certain in life—he was born and bred to wear a cut. Raised in a turbulent world of sex, Harleys, and drugs, Styx, unexpectedly has the heavy burden of the Hades Hangmen gavel thrust upon him, and all at the ripe old age of twenty-six—much to his rivals’ delight. Haunted by a crushing speech impediment, Styx quickly learns to deal with his haters. Powerful fists, an iron jaw and the skillful use of his treasured German blade has earned him a fearsome reputation as a man not to be messed with in the shadowy world of outlaw MC’s. A reputation that successfully keeps most people far, far away. Styx has one rule in life—never let anyone get too close. It’s a plan that he has stuck to for years, that is, until a young woman is found injured on his lot… a woman who looks uncannily familiar, a woman who clearly does not belong in his world, yet a woman he feels reluctant to let go…

Title: A Place in the Sun Author: R.S. Grey Published: October 24, 2016

Heroine: Georgie Archibald Man-Candy: Gianluca aka Grumpy cat with a past

My Review:

This is a sweet and sassy story of Georgie and Gianluca in Italy. Who doesn’t love a good love story set in Italy?

Georgie, an English aristocrat, shows up in a small Italian town looking for an escape of her matchmaking mother/boring love life in England.

In Italy, she meets a beautiful and fun cast of characters that make this book a lovely read. You can find true love anywhere, even in a remote town in Italy.

Georgie convinces Gianlunca to rehab an old bed and breakfast. And the stage is set for love.

Gianluca is a widower that is haunted by the ghost of the love of his life. And he’s not interested in falling in love again. Just ask ANYBODY!

But Georgie isn’t just anyone. She’s precocious and determined to make friends with Gianluca even if it kills her.

I loved this story because it’s a story of love that unfolds over time. It’s the kind of love that you hope for yourself. A genuine understanding of each other and each other’s flaws but coming to love each other anyway.

You’ll like this story if:

  • STRONG and SASSY female lead
  • Charming Italian towns and men!
  • Men who are a little fucked in the head but we love them anyway

Book Description:

When her mother’s incessant matchmaking hits an all-time high, Georgie Archibald does what any sensible woman would do: she flees the country. Seeking refuge in the picturesque seaside village of Vernazza, Italy, Georgie’s only plan is to lie low, gorge herself on gelato, and let the wine and waves wash her troubles away...that is until she wakes up in a bed that belongs to the most romantic-looking man she’s ever seen. Gianluca. After going out of his way to rescue her, the former London financier turned mysterious recluse makes it clear that despite acting as her white knight, he has no plans to co-star in her fairytale. But Georgie isn’t asking for his heart—she’s merely intrigued. After all, Gianluca isn’t just gorgeous—tall and tan from days spent in the sun—his touch sets her world on fire. With him, Georgie experiences the most intoxicating passion she’s ever known, and it only takes a few steamy nights for her to realize that sometimes running away from trouble is the best way to find it.

#REVIEW: Twist: A Dive Bar Novel by Kylie Scott

image

Title: Twist: A Dive Bar Novel Author: Kylie Scott Published: April 2017

Heroine: Alex Parks Man-Candy: Joe Collins aka Sexy Viking bartender

My Review:

Oh man. I think Joe may be my ultimate man. He’s a sexy, viking bartender that has the weight of the world on his shoulders. He wants to be everything to everyone, even though that is an unrealistic standard.

Alex shows up in Coeur d’Alene to meet Eric, Joe’s brother. They had met online… or had they? Turns out she had been talking to Joe all those months.

And as all characters the Dive Bar series, they get sucked up into the lives of Couer D’Alene. Alex and Joe end up getting to know each other. Alex stays and starts to become friends with everyone in town.

And hijinks ensue. OH BOY, DO THEY!

You’ll fall in love with Joe’s heart and kindness. It’s some of the best part of the book. All Kylie’s characters can be sweet but Joe is one of a kind. Joe and Alex have a sweet connection that is borne out of true friendship and caring for each other.

But just when everything looks good and they’re on the right path, tragedy strikes.

Will Joe and Alex be able to lean on each other to get through this terrible time together or will Joe’s “doesn’t need anyone for anything” attitude get in the way of their love?

You’ll Love this book if:

  • Sexy, Viking bartenders
  • Strong female leads
  • Love borne out of friendship

Book Description:

When his younger brother loses interest in online dating, hot bearded bartender Joe Collins only intends to log into his account and shut it down. Until he reads about her.

Alex Parks is funny, fascinating, and pretty much everything he's been looking for in a woman—except that she lives across the country. Soon they're emailing up a storm and telling each other their deepest, darkest secrets...except the one that really matters.

When Alex pays Joe a surprise visit, however, they both discover that when it comes to love, it's always better with a twist.
