Eden wrapped her arms around her mother, sighing softly as the tension she held eased a little. “We’re fine. Promise. Al’s talking to Winry right now, but he’ll be in soon.” she assures. “I’m glad you’re doing well…” she adds.
“Maybe soon the Colonel will give me a solid lead… once I fix Alphonse he can stay here with you and help with things around here.” Eden sighs, not wanting to move away from the hug.

She let out a light breath of relief; even though they were both at least partially metal at this point, she was still worried constantly about her two children.  Now, you and I both know your brother wouldn’t let you leave him behind, even to help me. And I wouldn’t let him even if he would; I’m fine, Eden, really.

While the angle had been slightly awkward, Trisha still refused to let Eden go. It was always better when her kids were home. “ What happened that you need to fix Alphonse? ”

He smiled a bit. Well, she definitely had the bored part right, “I learned this stuff when I was eight, at best reading the chapter was like a refresher.” she may not have let him get dropped into high school and college at very young ages he could have, which in hindsight was the saving grace to give him the few social skills he did have and Ed was always grateful his mom showed him that mercy, but he checked out a lot of books from the library. By the time he hit high school, most classes were boring and he just went through the motions, “Al is doing an English essay right now, I’m not sure he wants to jump to physics. But if you wanna take a crack at it I won’t stop you.”

She chuckled lightly, leaning against the doorframe as he collected his stuff. It wasn’t a surprise to her that he already knew it all; Ed was hands down the smartest kid she knew, all thanks to their father’s thirst for knowledge passing down to them. Sure, he could have easily danced his way through college by now, but she was adamant about him staying exactly where he was, even if he was bored with it all.  Well, then let’s leave Al to his work for now. And, honestly I don’t know much about physics other than gravity and how it causes spills in my kitchen... Trisha took a second, tapping her chin as she thought. If Ed already knew it, there was no need for him to do the homework right this second, especially when she knew he’d get it done.  How about you help me prepare dinner instead?

Unfortunately for his sneeker of a wife, it wasn’t as if he was doing anything interesting at all, though he can’t blame her for being curious. He did get up rather suddenly to bustle off to his office, trying to write down a bit of math to see if it was suitable enough to describe the way a particle might fall through the air while being observed. Much before the squeak, he already knew that she was there, but at the squeak, he looks up from his math to smile a little at her.

“Did you need something, Trisha? I’m happy to help, of course.”

She let out a small laugh, covering her mouth to somewhat muffle the sound as she walked into the doorway. He usually was fairly good about helping her out, and she didn’t really need it today ( all she had was to hang the wash to dry today ), she was just overly curious today. The basket in her arms was situated onto her hip as she smiled back at him.

No, nothing. I was just curious about what you’re doing in here.

It took a few extra moments to figure out what he’d left behind before Ed poked his head out of the kitchen. Right, the homework he was annoyed with having to do. He finished reading that chapter in the textbook months ago, it wasn’t his fault that he always read ahead. Alright it was a little bit his fault but he had to do something when he sped through assignments and finished whatever he was reading for fun, “…I was coming back to it.” in an hour, maybe, after he was in a better mood. The bag of bread was put down on the counter to go and at least gather the papers and book up to move to his room.

Trisha let out a small chuckle at her son’s comment. It was about as believable as him drinking milk.  Either way, it needs to be in your room, dear. She smiled, watching as he left the kitchen to collect it all up.  You know, I’m sure Alphonse would love to learn about it. If you’re bored with it, maybe you could teach him. Anything to get the two to work together on something instead of just wandering the town or fighting.  Or, if you need help, I can take a crack at it! She had no idea what it was, but it was sure to get Ed to laugh; he could run circles around her in almost every subject.

Five seconds. He was able to move the shadows across the room for five seconds and then they seemed to sway, shudder, and jolt back to him with such force Pride was sure he’d have been knocked over. At the light scolding from Sloth, if it could really be called that, his shoulders slumped and he risked looking up at her from the spot on the floor he was seated on. It was hardly a secret that he barely had a handle on his power, and he was trying. They were just hard to move without them doing something….not good.

He was improving, even if the improvement was minute in comparison, and every little bit counted. He’d gotten a closer that time, but still not close enough to touch her; that was the goal this time, just a touch, even for a second.  I know you can do it; just keep trying. As long as he didn’t give up and the small gains kept coming at a steady pace, all would be fine when all was said and done. Keep your focus on them, and me. ”

Eden was always hesitant to walk in after any time away from the house. Infinitely the little girl who was told by the school nurse - whom, with the Rockbell’s passing, was the only local doctor in the small country community - that her mother would, most likely, die before Alphonse hit his teens; infinitely the girl who came home expecting to find a cold corpse in place of the warmth her mother had.
“Oh, I meant to… I really did, I just got a little distracted… sorry, Mom. It was alright. Could have gone better but it could have been a lot worse. How are you feeling?” She approached with her awkward gait - steel and flesh sounding different on the wooden floors. She didn’t care though, first and foremost she wanted to give her mother a hug.

Seeing her daughter was always a bit of a shock for the woman. She definitely wasn’t her little girl in pigtail braids and denim dresses anymore, now stood the great Fullmetal Alchemist Eden Elric; half of Trisha’s most prized duo. Trisha sat up a little straighter in her chair with arms out for her eldest child -- it’d be weeks since she’d seen her, and she needed a hug from her daughter.

“ Oh, don’t worry about it, sunshine. Just makes it a surprise for me! She forced a bigger smile on her face, trying to keep Eden’s worries at bay.  I’m glad it went well... You and your brother weren’t hurt, right? That was always her biggest worry while they were out, that something would happen to one of them and she wouldn’t be able to be there to help. It was bad enough she hardly had the strength to make it to the Rockbell’s home the night everything happened, but she never wanted her babies to be hurt without her around to help. “ I’m doing better than I was.

Honestly, Trisha didn’t want to worry her daughter. Not much had changed in the way of her health lately. Her voice was raspier and her muscles much more tired than usual, but no major changes. No worse, but no better either.

She knew she had other things to be doing at the moment ( like, say, taking care of house ) but once she’d seen Hohenheim hide himself away in his office again, Trisha couldn’t help but want to see what he was up to in there. Her brown eyes were probably glittering while she watched through a crack in the doorway, attempting to get a good look at whatever he was working on; unfortunately, the angle didn’t help her out any, and moving to try and get a better look just resulted in the door squeaking loudly. Well, so much for being sneaky.

The boy in front of her looked so sickly that for a moment Trisha was sure she was looking at someone’s deathbed -- and after being there herself not so long before, it scared her. She dug around in the basket she had to see what food she had that she could offer the poor boy.  Hello there, I’m Trisha. Would you like something to eat? You look absolutely famished...

“ Really, Pride, I know it’s all new, but you won’t ever get the hang of your powers if you don’t practice. Sloth’s eyes aren’t even focused on the boy, instead watching the sun rising from her seat. He’s their newest addition to the family, and although she doesn’t know everything yet, she wants to make sure he’s prepared for what’s to come. Nothing can get in the way of Dante’s plan at this point, including a clueless little boy.

Sometimes, raising two children was enough to drive Trisha crazy. Sometimes it actually did, but today it was more nerve-grating than anything. She just wanted one day - just one - where she could walk through the house and not have to pick up something by one of the various boys in her home; not that that would change, and part of her doesn’t want it to, but today she was not having the mess.  Edward, I know you have things to do, but please make sure you pick up after yourself. If you leave something in the living room, pick it up.

It was rare for Trisha to find herself in Rush Valley, but when Pinako had said she needed some parts, she decided to turn it into a family trip with the three kids. They loved it so far, with Winry gawking at all the automail, Edward showing off his alchemy to the other kids, and Alphonse sticking closely to his mother’s side. Quickly, though, they’d all become quite hungry, and she ushered them inside a small bakery to tide them over. She was grinning as she set her basket down at her feet.  What a lovely little bakery!      The sound of a door opening had taken Trisha away from the newspaper in her hands; it was the only way she was able to keep up with everything in the world now, with her being stuck to the confines of the first floor of the house. Really, it was Eden’s working and paying for her medicine, along with Pinako checking in on her constantly, to thank for her being alive.  --Eden, you’re home... You didn’t call, how was your trip?
