hi, i'm a sims 3 player who wants to get into the sims 2 for the first time. i found your github (ultimate collection installer) but none of the downloads are working for me. i've tried them on three different browsers but nothing works. the web installer doesn't download, nor does the standalone installer. i even tried downloading the web Installer game files but they didn't download either. idk if this is something on my end, because my wifi loads literally everything else. please help

hi! If the web installer isn’t downloading, you probably have an antivirus or browser extension blocking the download. Try a different browser/firefox/etc and make sure only windows defender is enabled, nothing else that could be intrusive with false positives.

The only thing that should stop it opening is Windows Smartscreen, the little blue popup which you can bypass with “more details > run anyway”

Hi Osab! I saw your post about being able to play with smooth edges on now with the 6.0+ version of reshade but for some reason the depth buffers stop working as soon as I turned on smooth edges in the game settings. I have disable dirty rec in GRM and use version 6.1.0 reshade if that matters. Thank you!

Did the depth buffer disappear from the add-ons menu? If not, you might need to manually select the right one each time you start the game because it doesn’t usually detect the correct one on its own.

It should be the one with the most draw calls, and if everything’s working with smooth edges the depth buffer should say MSAA at the end.

You could also try messing with the settings that save the depth buffer before clear to see if it makes a difference (mine works with it off though).

Hello! I saw your post about the recent update of reshade and could you explain it a bit more for my feeble mind :3 thank you!

Ofc! On older versions of ReShade, you had to turn off the game's anti-aliasing/"smooth edges" to make the depth buffer work. Depth is needed for a lot of effects like ambient occlusion/mxao, depth of field, etc..

So if you wanted to get rid of the jaggies while using depth effects, you had to use a AA filter in ReShade instead (like FXAA or SMAA), which is a lot less effective and blurs the entire screen, including the UI. On the newest update, they fixed it so that you can use the in-game smooth edge setting with any effects you want, making post-process AA filters unnecessary. All you need now is "Disable dirty rectangle optimizations" in Graphics Rules Maker for depth to work.

Hopefully that was clear enough, lmk if it helped!

PSA to TS2 reshade users, the in-game smooth edges/MSAA works with the depth buffer now on 6.0+, so you don't have to use post process AA that blurs the UI!

I normally don't do this, but please do not download this CC pack. It not only has some of my default hairs which I explicitly asked people not to reupload, but entire 4t2 packs, clothes, mods and what look like bodyshop installations.

I've seen this before but not at this magnitude. I don't know which version of the hair defaults they nabbed, what mods they loaded...

Trying not to be a hater, but with no credit and potentially harmful concoctions of cc, I'd recommend to find the original sources which was predominantly items on LordCrumps.com, @deedee-sims, @mdpthatsme, @tvickiesims, @applewatersugar, @rascalcurious, etc

The fact there is TONS of mods in there, with no documentation?

This is what your downloading if you download this;

just woke up and seen this, it's awful. seriously guys, it may take you time to download individual stuff, but it takes EVEN MORE time for the CREATORS to actually make it. GIVE THEM CREDIT!! 🤦‍♀️

it's also highly dangerous to your game to download big repacks like this. i mean, if 'zz-Chicaloca-11' had a hidden pollination technician inside, i wouldn't even be surprised lol. and not there being a wrongly installed version of rug fix too 😭 it's too triggering...

The previous ask made me remember that it's possible to sort of mix different terrain types by editing the NeighborhoodTerrain.ini in the game files, too. Doing this instantly affects all the neighborhoods using the edited terrain type.

The lot view still shows just one terrain type at a time, though. But when done like this, I assume the lot terrain type will automatically change based on what terrain the lot is mostly placed on.

I've never found a way to utilize this well for my own use, but that's probably due to the lack of patience to fiddle with it lol.

Underneath are the settings I used for the preview above, along with my notes. Just click on the pic for the bigger version (or open the picture in a new tab if you're reading this from the blog).

osab's lovely UE4 switch modding!!

since i got my hacked switch I've started modding some ue4 switch games to improve their bad graphics/antialiasing and unlock the FPS to 60! :3

if anyone else here is interested in switch modding/homebrew lmk! I will probably release the mods whenever I eventually perfect them.

Wizard Game (slider comparison):

Default FXAA vs my TAAU (same dynamic res internally)

FF7 Crisis Core Reunion (slider comparison):

Default (extremely blurry, ghosty, and speckly) TAA vs my TAAU (same dynamic res)

Also making one for Shin Megami Tensei V, sadly enabling TAAU crashes in this game and it only supports Gen4 TAA, but I'll keep working on it (and maybe vengeance will update the engine?). Balancing the ghosting/jitter in the older TAA is a CHALLENGE but I feel like it could still end up better than the shimmery fxaa if I keep messing.

Planning on Pikmin 4 next!

hey! love the work in the ts2 starter pack. i just discovered wineskin for mac now supports dxvk/d9vk for directx games. could you help me with debugging why the game crashes on loading the title menu?

I’ve tried to, it looked like it’s using Vulkan 1.2 (I think TS2 might need 1.3 to work with DXVK) and gave some weird nonsense errors in the log :/

The translation to metal probably still needs some work. But getting to the EA Logo is definitely progress from before, it used to crash immediately and not even open.
