Doctors performing procedures outside of their expertise, amputations due to zip-typing of abductees’ wrists, having large dogs unleashed on them at night. Being fed food through straws. I can’t believe it. I am truly in shock. And this is just one whistleblower accounting of this. Who knows what else is happening beyond our knowledge

Reading up on him, he was a pretty cool guy. He was one of the first people to stand up to John Money about his theories of gender development and position that intersex infants should receive surgery and never be told about it using his abuse of David Reimer as ‘proof’, asserting that Money didn’t have the evidence and standing his ground even when Money straight up started screaming at him. And then later he was proven right when he got into contact with David Reimer, not only discovering proof that Money was wrong but also how abusive and horrific Money had been. He then went on to write advocating for intersex and trans rights and to avoid unnecessary procedures on intersex people without full informed consent and that intersex people are part of natural human variation and that we deserve acceptance and not to be treated like a disorder.

"Bees don't consent to their honey being taken" wrong, bees are actually more than intelligent enough to know we take the honey. They LET us take the honey if they think what we provide in return (shelter, food, protection) is a fair deal.

"Taking honey starves the bees" WRONG AGAIN! Domestic bees overproduce honey. A beekeeper NEVER takes honey the bees would need because then you piss off the bees, and if you piss off the bees you don't have any bees. They stockpile honey for the winter, but because domestic colonies do way better than wild ones they stockpile too much. That's why beekeepers can take out whole frames and then have them filled in no time. Domestic bees actively overproduce because they know humans are going to skim some off the top.

And if they didn't want humans to take it, beekeeping WOULD NOT work.

To keep bees you have to let them fly free. If they can fly free they can leave. Meaning if they don't like what you're doing, they WILL leave.

The whole idea they're basically slaves to the queen is also not true, they can just make a new queen literally whenever, and if they don't like her, they kill her.

There is no way for a beekeeper to exploit their bees. The bees are EMPLOYEES.

people really love to believe that modesty, especially religious modesty, exists in a vacuum . when the truth of it is that modesty is extremely sexual lol

like obviously don’t sexualize real nuns . whatever . i can agree with that. but people are going beyond that trying to protect. like . the concept of a nun and fictional nuns from sexualization like oh ok i see what this is now

in a lot of christian spaces you’ll see people advocating for modesty for children, especially children as low as 2, to teach them early. ESPECIALLY girls, who are told they need to pull their shirts down, close their legs, wear a dress, etc . and a lot of christians who participate in this will tell you that modesty isn’t only a physical thing- it’s the way they act, think, show respect. but by treating their bodies as inherently sexual and “immodest” sinful things that need to be covered up. it becomes sexual . it doesn’t matter how much clothing you put on your child, you are sexualizing them.

i think people have this idea that sexualization is like . only when a woman with big boobs wears a bikini . when sexualization actually has more to do with the incredibly prevalent misogyny in our culture and the way that it is enforced on womens bodies and womens choices . like sexualization doesn’t stop and end at what someone wears . and that definitely extends to the concept of “modesty” and how that’s enforced as well.

like making little girls wear long dresses not sit with their legs open and be god fearing modest christians does nothing to stop sexualization if you are intensely focused on their breasts and their genitals beneath them and are focusing on viewing their bodies as sexual objects. it’s still sexualization and it’s still incredibly harmful. you’re just making them show less skin .

and this is not to shame women who dress modestly or who cover up more . but we need to realize that modesty as a concept and as a societal force . that is enforced on us. is 100% just a less “overt” form of sexualization of womens bodies . it also invites a strong victim blaming narrative and you can definitely connect this whole idea to the concept of the “male gaze” but that’s something else because this post is getting long

like i don’t know it’s just horrible how no matter how a woman dresses she will be sexualized without her consent . if she shows skin she’ll be sexualized and degraded. if she dresses modestly she’ll be sexualized and praised, until she dresses modestly to a certain extent and then she’ll be degraded again. but she will still always be sexualized and treated as a sexual object. ugh

anyway . havent said this yet but sexualization is not inherently bad . only when it is forced on us without our consent. nuns have weird sexual lesbian sex i bet
