[10:36 AM] crush!jisung decides that he’d like to surprise you with a copious amount of memes just so he knows he’s made your day in some shape or form. they’re means you two have mentioned or ones he’s shared previously, but he figures an onslaught of those, amusing twitter videos, and even the infamous tik tok videos would bring some joy to you while you go through the motions of a stress cold with everything going on—between finals to school clubs to just plain life things. he feels bad he can’t physically be there for you, so at the very least he can support you as a friend.

when you receive them, you burst into fits of laughter, wondering how is it that you’ve gotten so lucky to have him in your life. crush or friend, jisung has his ways of spreading a smile across your face. even on the last leg of this surprise stress cold, you begin to feel a little better.

(“did you like all the stuff i sent?” he asks you over videochat. he made sure to ask if you were up for it, which you said you were, so there you were with your haired pulled back and a mug of warm tea in hand

“i loved it, every one of them made me laugh,” you tell him, smiling wide. he does the same thing. “thank you, i feel like i owe you somehow.”

“what?” he shakes his head a bunch. “you don’t owe me anything for that.”

“but listen!” you continue when he pauses, “how about i treat you to some gelato after i feel better? it’ll be a thank you for being so sweet.”

“can i add something to that offer?” you tilt your head in a little confusion, which makes him smile even more. you look too cute for words, almost, but now’s his chance. “how about we make it date?”)

[1:37 AM] an evening in with best friend!donghyuck means getting comfortable on the couch, setting the television up with a line of movies in queue, and having snacks readily available on the coffee table. while he isn’t quite the one to watch horror movies, you convince him to at least watch the very fun and endearing tucker and dale vs evil, so he can see the glorious comedy that this film has to offer. it’s second on the list behind another favorite movie of yours because he hasn’t seen that either, and his lovely laughter fills the air and reminds you how grateful you are to cuddle up to him and enjoy some of your favorite movies with him.

when he catches you staring, you simply pretend to swat away a nonexistent fly, focusing back on the movie as you point out a jump scare just in case it sets him off too much. instead he laughs at the joke you make and wraps an arm around you when you start leaning your head on his shoulders.

(“don’t tell me you’re falling asleep already!” he teases, giving your arm a small squeeze.

you scrunch your nose at him and shake your head. “last time you fell asleep first, hyuck!” you point out, laughing as he tries to come up with a proper excuse. “anyways, do you like the movie so far?”

“you make it fun, so yeah,” he says, a little pink in the cheeks.)

hi hello i love and miss you all 💛 how’s everyone doing tonight??? i’m sorry for going MIA :((( i think i’ve gone back on a block of some sort, but also i’ve been super busy so my mind’s been everywhere else besides where it should be. d: anyway, come chat abt whatever if you’d like!!!

[9:21 AM] there are many reasons for you to hate morning shifts: 1) it wakes you from your much needed slumber, 2) you have to deal with cranky customers (though they aren’t any different from the ones who come in at any other time of the day, but still), 3) your managers are often in too busy of a hustle to answer your pages for a key turn on the walkie, and— well, you get the picture. it’s more than you can handle sometimes. because sometimes you have those mornings where you’re still reeling of fatigue from the previous day. because sometimes you make a mistake here and there. because sometimes your calls for assistance go unanswered, and it takes every will of control to stop yourself from crying right then and there, with a line of customers already forming.

that is until you see crush!mark speedwalking in from one side of the store, probably receiving, with a key for the register and a smile plastered on his face aimed at the customers. an apology falls off his lips about the wait, and soon then, a rhythm forms, and the moment of stress and anxiety begins to dissipate as the line dwindles into nothing but you and him at the registers.

you don’t know how long you’ve come to like mark or what it is about him that draws you to him, but he’s interesting to talk to, even on the occasions where you’re late to return from break because you’ve both gotten lost in conversation. you don’t mind it so much, though he often apologizes profusely to you about it.

“are you alright?” he asks, having already scanned your face, probably to call you out if you try to lie.

“better now,” you admit, smiling small. “thank you for coming up.”

he smiles back, ruffling the top of your head. you almost want to protest but instead you playfully swat his hand away. “i’m always happy to help you out anyway.”

your other coworkers begin to trickle in, getting ready for the day by stuffing their belongings in the break room and clocking in. that’s mark’s cue to depart, but mark lingers and asks, “see you in the break room later then?”

you laugh, recalling the schedule. “yeah, i’ll see you.”

(little do you know, he has a surprise for you: your favorite beverage from the nearby coffee shop and a question you had been debating on asking him yourself—“would you like to go out sometime?”)

how’s everyone doing tonight? I’ve been so busy with school that it’s hard to write more blurbs :( gonna try to write more tho!!

[8:41 PM] tonight finds you and crush!renjun in a rather frustrating position.

with useless, no-shows for group members thrust upon you two as an exercise of cursed group work and the ever dreadful group project, you two are left to pick up the slack from those jerks. while the simple task of making the powerpoint should be easy, you realize neither of the two have done their end of the slides, and their research--rather the lack thereof--is nowhere to be seen on the outline you made weeks ago for the paper.

the sight makes you groan, a lot louder than you mean to, but after waiting here for over two hours for only renjun to show up, you just can’t help it.

renjun turns over to look at you, his attention abandoning his task of creating a breathtaking cover for the written portion. he told you earlier to save the graphs and whatnot to him, a challenge all on its own since they need to be made by hand through the system, because again, your other group members screwed up on all the data.

“what’s wrong?” he asks, scanning your face before glancing at the screen you’re glaring at.

“they didn’t even do their part of the damn research.” you don’t want to admit defeat, and you won’t, though a part of you is ready to cry at the thought of the looming deadline. this meeting was meant to be a final touch-up and time to touch bases for the presentation, instead it’s become this mess of last minute work. at the very least, you’re grateful that renjun isn’t like either of those idiots. “well, i better get started on that--”

“wait,” he shakes his head, already minimizing his previous windows. “the graphs can wait a little bit longer. what parts are we missing?”

in fact, he’s significantly better than those idiots.

(several hours later, when your eyes are drooping, you notice renjun finally return - in his hands are a mug of your favorite milk tea and a delicious pastry from the campus bakery. “you did well. rest for a while, ‘kay? i’ll finish up on those graphs.”

he doesn’t tell you about the email he sends to the professor about the slackers in your group, but it’s a wonderful surprise when you and he wind up with A’s and their grades are significantly lower.)
