【A lot of my content will now be posted on @zakkus-games now.】
This is where I post Animal crossing related things, anywhere from the original, all the way to New Leaf, that also includes the Japanese versions! (But mostly New Leaf)
I also sometimes post Animal Crossing quotes. Deltor's dream: 4B00-000F-BD1B

Fun fact: Nintendo made a demo version of Animal Crossing: Wild World. It’s much like the regular version except you can’t save or name your town and your character’s face is randomly chosen.

How to convert save data (garden.dat to garden_plus for Welcome Amiibo) Guide

Hello, everyone! I am making a guide for those who wants to update their old save data (or for those who have gotten the “Save data is not the last data saved, delete data???”) for/to the Welcome Amiibo Update. Notes

  1.  You must have Homebrew (3DS hacking tool, any method should be fine). You will also need a save manager tool, I used the base one that came with my homebrew… I think it would be in the Homebrew Starter Kit, some people don’t recommend this but I’ve had no issues.
  2.  CONVERTING FROM GARDEN.DAT TO GARDEN_PLUS.DAT (Save data prior to the update to data after the update) WILL **NOT** WORK IF YOU HAVE A VERSION OF THE GAME WHERE IT IS PRE-INSTALLED (you can tell this by looking at the icon, it will look like the one shown here. (The one you should have will have a green background and a white leaf)
  3.  I did this on digital, if you are doing this on physical (or wanted to convert from digital to physical), only difference should be that you don’t have to change the secure NAND file.
  4. make sure you have the old garden.dat (or garden_plus if you don’t need to update save data, just make it readable by the system!) You might also want to keep it in a safe place/folder. If you don’t have garden.dat or garden_plus, you will need a backup of your SD card and refer here

NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU CORRUPT YOUR ANIMAL CROSSING!!!

*Special thanks to birdwithbrow and seynomore on Reddit for helping me figure this out, this would not have have been possible without them.

Ok, so now that’s out of the way, on to the actual guide!

1) If you have already have a town (one you don’t care about), then you will need to delete it before doing ANYTHING else. 2) Once you have done that delete the update. You can do this by going into settings>Data Management>Nintendo 3DS/2DS>Downloadable Content>Animal Crossing New Leaf– Animal Crossing New Leaf [Update Data] The icon should look normal except Ver. 1.5.– Delete it. 3) After the extra data is deleted, restart your console and open Animal Crossing. (If you get an error, just reinstall the update and make sure the save is deleted, then delete the update and try again!!!) 4) Okay, now that you have done that and everything is fine, create a new town go through the beginning stuff, save and quite, go back in let pete give you a letter, Save and quite. 5) Go into Homebrew, go to the save editor (make sure the SaveDataBackup folder in the SD card is cleared) and backup your save. 6) Put the SD/Micro SD card in the computer (If you can’t do that, go to settings on your 3DS>Data Management> MicroSD (SD) management> (Enter the info if it asks)– Go back to your PC>Network>(your 3DS)>MicroSD(or SD) Save Data management) 7) Copy the new file on desktop or somewhere you will remember. 8) You can use a hex editor but it’s much easier to use a save editor like this website 9) On there, it will ask you select a save file, select the corrupt/ old file and it will pull up a new page. Go to other, you will see something called Secure value followed by a lot of random numbers and letters. There should be a pencil next to it. click it, click Update secure NAND. it will pull up file explorer, go to the garden.dat you just saved, and then click save changes. and it will go into a folder (Downloads for me). 10) Go into the folder where the save editor just saved the garden.dat 11) Put the newest garden.dat into your SaveDataBackup (You can also put the ones that were first backed up in SaveDataBAckup) (make sure old files or files that may be overwritten are cleared from SaveDataBackup) 12) Put the SD card back into your system (or restart your system if you are using the online transfer) 13) Go into homebrew, your save data manger, and import your data. 14) Once that’s done, restart your system, go into Animal Crossing New Leaf (If it asks to update, don’t do it yet) 15) If your title screen comes up with your old title, good, you can now exit your game, update, and have fun!

If your title screen shows the new save you created and didn’t want DO NOT LOAD YOUR SAVE, go to home menu, make sure your save file is titled “garden” (sometimes windows computers will automatically put .dat or the extension for you so you might not have to put the extra extension and also make sure you uninstalled the update) If you get a “your save data is corrupted” error, make sure your data isn’t corrupted in the first place (save editor should pull it up and the map and stuff works) and everything is named correctly.

It’s okay if there are other files such as friend1,2,etc, exhibition, mydesign, mail, in your SaveDataBackup folder

If you have any questions, please let me now! (I can help in English and in partial Japanese if needed) :) Hope this helped!

Anonymous asked:

How can you texture hack after the Amiibo update?

There are two options - you can either get a retail copy of Welcome Amiibo (digital or cartridge) and rom hack exactly the same way as you would with New Leaf pre-update, or you can use OnionFs with updated versions of New Leaf if you have NTR CFW installed on your console (though this method causes long loading times if you have an old 3ds). If you’re going with the latter option, I recently posted some links that may be of help here.
