Genos’ eyes are almost as wide as the moon he’s on.
Never minding the fact that, for some reason, he is able to breathe, but he is really here.
His 600 pound body treads lightly as he moves forward, looking down at the earth, the only celestial body he thought he would ever know. Then, turning back to Tama,
“My perspective has changed immensely since meeting you, Tama.”
The comforting solitude being here, out in space without an atmosphere protecting him is beyond words.
“It’s beautiful, Tama. Thank you.” He takes Tama’s hands, his tactile pads rubbing against the projection that was his skin.
“It’s so quiet.”
Watching Genos’s face as he surveys the earth, Tama can’t help but feel something… Well, he doesn’t know how to describe it. But he knows it’s an important feeling. Something about Genos’s eyes, his hesitation, his expression. Tama wants to remember this moment. Forever. He wants to look back on this, a hundred years from now. A thousand years from now. He wants to see that expression, crystal clear in his mind.
And as Genos reaches for his hands, Tama takes a step closer, unable to stop himself from smiling. Rubbing a thumb across Genos’s knuckle, “I’m glad you like it.” It’s not a typical date location, but his date looks impressed regardless. He feels a little bad that he hasn’t built a home here. He could ask his sisters about that–creating a structure that mortals can’t normally see, like Chaya’s home in the forest. It wouldn’t have to be a palace, though. Just a place with a bed and a kitchen and picture windows.
Looking around, “I guess it is pretty quiet…” He’d never given it much thought, but Genos is naturally right. The moon is silent. No birds or trains or wind or crickets. No rain on leaves or crashing ocean. Just you. Is thinking that way getting ahead of himself? He doesn’t know. He’s never done any of this before.
Eyes back on Genos, “You’re the first person I’ve ever brought here. I…like it better with you.” A lot better. Corny as it may sound, Genos makes the stars seem to shine brighter than they had before. He makes the clouds swirling across the earth’s surface seem to dance. He makes Tama feel… he’s still not sure. But, good.
