i love morning time on tumblr its like we are the only ppl awake in a big house downstairs in the kitchen
(through gritted teeth) there's so much to learn (through sobs) there's so much to learn (through maniacal laughter) there's so much to learn (through sleepy eyes) there's so much to learn (through a tired smile) there's so much to learn
““No,” said Grandmother. “There’s no such thing as quietness. Everything can be heard. That thing that we call silence–it’s not really silence. It’s only our own deafness. If we weren’t so deaf the world wouldn’t be such a wicked place.”
— Stig Dagerman, from “In Grandmother’s House”, Sleet: Selected Stories (trans. Michael Hartman)
people vaguely saying 'the horrors' as shorthand for 'life problems, don't worry about it' in conversations where the problems are not going to be delved into has got to be one of my favorite new Ways Of Speaking that has emerged. like it's polite and vague and succinct enough for impersonal conversation but also extremely honest. it's very funny. The Horrors. we all know of them.
I am a mosaic of everyone I have ever known and loved and touched and I find fragments of them in my playlists and how I make my tea. we may not know each other any more but we will stay connected like this. I hope a fragment of me is with you too.

I truly feel like The Boy and The Heron is Miyazaki’s apology letter to his son Goro.
Not in a “your my precious son and I love you so much, here a movie to make you for my failures” kind of way
but in a “I’ve built this incredible empire and legacy that’s given magic to millions of people, and in that time you’ve lived in that same world, and so naturally it’s expected that you’d take it over in my place, but I know that you’ll never succeed me or that you’ll be able to recreate the magic. This magical world will die with me, this company will die with me, and that’s okay. You don’t have to be me.”
sir that’s my emotional support cool Ghibli lesbian
losing my mind at this exchange between Kenshi Yonezu and Masaki Suda on working with Hayao Miyazaki in The Boy and the Heron, both of them were in shambles (this part, the whole conversation)
We need to give Ridoc his flowers. He's been carrying the comedy department on his back since the first book-
it just keeps getting funnier how tairn keeps reaching record-breaking levels of single dad energy
i'm barely on chapter 20 but his life up to this point has pretty much consisted of:
- "I just put the baby down for a nap!!"
- threatening the school principal for
trying to murderpicking on violet - "DON'T WAKE THE BABY!!"
- very short date nights once a week with sgaeyl where i'm sure too much time is wasted catching up on all the kids
- keeping violet from breaking her neck with extreme gymnastics
- DON'T. WAKE. THE BABY.
