hey guys, i think it’s important that we all be respectful of one another, regardless of differing fandom opinions. it’s not okay to harass someone over sharing an opinion you disagree with.
wander over yonder has been one of the best, kindest, close-knit fandoms i’ve ever been a part of (and believe me, i used to be heavily involved in the supernatural fandom so i have Seen Some Shit in regard to Fandom Discourse) and we should work hard to keep it that way.
everyone is entitled to liking whatever ships/aus/kinks/whatever! on the same note, everyone is also entitled to dislike anything they want to. instead of feeling personally attacked by one or the other, the easiest thing to do is ignore posts that you disagree with so you don’t end up accidentally hurting someone in the process.
it’s important for a fandom like ours to stick together and be understanding of one another -- after all, we’re a bunch of people who came together and rounded up over 20,000 signatures on the petition to save the show along with TONS and TONS of more support for the show! i can’t even tell you how different things are now vs when i first got into the show and the fandom, and it’s a good thing!
there’s a lot of different kinds of people in this fandom, and our differences should be celebrated rather than attacked. it’s amazing how creative this fandom is, and no one should be “run out of town” (so to speak) over their opinons about a shipping or an au idea.
none of it is canon, but the people who are being hurt are real, and i think that needs to be put into perspective before you send that angry anon to another person you disagree with.
it’s fine to disagree, but it’s not fine to engage in harassment, or to make someone feel as though they should leave the fandom or delete their blogs over a difference in opinion, regardless of how they handle themselves.
this is a show about love and acceptance. let’s continue to be a fandom that personifies that. let’s continue to stick together and be kind to one another.
