This is a reminder. I am adamantly against allowing your cat to roam freely outside. I'm very for indoor only, leash trained, catios, or escape proofed back yards for cats. But if your cat is physically capable of leaving your property on its own where it will face predators, cars, poisons, people with pellet/bb guns, diseases, etc, you are an irresponsible owner of that cat.

I don't care what country you're from. No country is completely magically free of any danger to or from your cat. Indoor outdoor cats may be the norm there, but that doesn't mean it's safe. If your indoor outdoor cat made it to old age, congrats it's an outlier. As a vet tech both in general practice and in a shelter I see what happens to most indoor outdoor cats regularly. I have photos I can share, and stories.

You will not change my mind.

If you are upset or angry about this, block me. If you send me messages to say your situation is different, I will block you. If you comment about how x country really is safe, I will block you. I'm sick of this shit.

Keep your cats inside -- not just for your cat, but for the sake of all the wildlife outside your door. They've already contributed to the extinction of 63 different species, and are pushing even more towards it. Keep your cats safe, and keep the wildlife safe from them. Win-win.

what is it about the subtle fuzziness and color/light distortion of old photographs that perfectly invokes the indistinct, dream-like quality of memory

the clarity of post-2000s photos makes me feel like i'm looking at an accurate depiction of a past event, but older photographs make me feel like i'm looking at a time as someone remembers it.

what the fuck why do straight people think homophobes turning out to be gay is so funny

because they just LOVE thinking that we’re the ones who are responsible for our own oppression

right like... whether they mean to or not they’re implying that we’re oppressing OURSELVES and they’re not responsible for it & homophobia isn’t a real issue. they also end up absolving violent homophobes of real responsibility and accountability for how they hurt gay people and also it’s not even a common thing... for raging violent homophobes to be closeted gay people. it’s honestly very rare and most of the time gay people internalize homophobia and are pretty open minded or at least empathetic with other gay people (most of us were “weirdly passionate” allies before we realized we were gay) but straight people love sensationalizing it because they love to push the idea that all homophobes are secretly gay for whatever reason. and by whatever reason i mean the reason is clearly they think homophobia and being gay is a joke
